Flann, Thanks indeed for providing us with fond memories by uploading this excellent series with Dick Warner RIP. A series that had everything-a look at our waterways and their sights, the people who lived on or near them and a look at the nature and animals that were at home on them!
Thanks Flann for uploading this, its fantastic, have watched all waterways series, but cant get my hands on dvds or tapes of the series, can you upload any more?? esp the old lifeboat one and the dutch barge??? Heres hoping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Waterways and Ironing The Land. Dick had class. What a contrast to what we have now with hand flapping z Listers dressed in helmets goggles and ear muffs
flan,do you by any chance have the episode where they arrive in limerick,i live 10 yards from there end point at the canal next to the old guiness,s and remember the crew interviewing a mrs rails, shes my next door neighbor and is in her 90,s and i was telling her i saw the series online and told her id try and record it,she was over the moon,do you know where i could get it or can you upload it maby? thanks flan
The start of this episode is missing, isn't it? They had trouble at the first lock: They couldn't get the gates fully open due to debris. They also had a member of the Garda on board because of all the beer they had as cargo. The weird thing about the Swedish Bolinder engines provided for the Grand Canal Company is that there is no direct reverse by changing the injection, literally belting the piston back the way it came.

Great credit for putting this up man. I'm watching it in Austin, TX and am homesick.
R.I.P. Dick Warner.
You have left behind a wonderful legacy in the various Waterways series that you brought to us.
Thank You.
Thank you so much for posting this. I live in america now but i used to love this series.
Cant believe RTE never produced this in DVD or video, there's such demand for it.
Remembered the voyager of 45M through all the years - great to see it again - thanks for the upload
Thanks for the upload, I really appreciate it!
I taped a marathon of these back in the 90s and got five episodes of season 1 but missed the last episode.

You can buy the whole series on Ebay, entitled Waterways of Ireland, about €40 but well worth it! Wonderful series...
What's that piece of music called that starts at 3:41

somebody must have the new royal canal waterway series out there , post it on vimeo or another not so strict video web site bPLEASE
Yes, one of my favourites too. I have most of the series, but not much time for converting and uploading. I will put up more when I can.
I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours kicking that bolinder, filling her with oil and adjusting the water feed.
