Impressive at age 14. This performance was done in a competition set up for orphaned children who might not have a chance otherwise to show off their talent. Considering the venue, this was a highly involved production, complete with props, backing dancers and Diana able to navigate that all the while staying in character. I thought to myself, one isn't able to do that overnight, so where did that come from? While Diana hasn't had a professionally written bio yet, from what I've been able to piece together, she was picked up off the winter streets abandoned at age 3, unable to communicate well or if at all, and placed eventually into an orphanage. (For reference, her birthday is at the end of May.) Having a difficult time overcoming the early trauma she received a lot of therapy including massage, that from a woman (Irene) who would become her mom and singing used as speech therapy. Fostered in Irene's home at age four, she liked and continued her instruction in singing. Whomever did this instruction, in my opinion, help instill in Diana a huge amount of confidence apparently. I say that based on video evidence from Diana's channel at age five. And for me, considering what she had experienced, this is the most outstanding performance I've seen her do and testimony to the resiliency of very young children. So in retrospect to having seen many other videos including some of her most recent (like Havana which she made in her home studio gifted to her by fans), there came an understanding of context as to how she was able to impress in so many in her performances from the two seasons of You are Super she participated. She rather proved the title of the show as the winner of both seasons. They say that a lot of a performer's success is based on song choice, and I think the song choice of this video really molded her ability to express her emotions and channel the 'character' of the song.
