- Bunty discovers a turtle in the garden.
With a heatwave setting in we took a walk in the mountains to cool off and in doing so discovered one of the most beautiful places we've ever visited.
Before Rory headed back to the UK we needed to smash out as much the chateau's back kitchen as possible whilst we still had a van to cart the rubble to the tip.
Jane's find of the day is a bit of a headscratcher (not literally).

Bunty Dog, Turtle Rescuer! I swear, your chateau is an Antiques Road Show all of its own. I believe what you have there is known as a cachepot, a container w/out dranage holes , intended to hold a living plant & hide the growing pot. If you have a plant with nice large flowers they can be nestled into the scallops on the edge. It is really lovely, whether antique or not. Lovely walk in the mountains, Bunty's reward for her rescue work on behalf of turtledom, your reward for Rory's hard work getting rid of the kitchen (it WAS a bit hideous) & for Jane's diligent research.

Ah yes - a cachepot - excellent spot! Well done.
The horses are not tethered or fenced. Most are wearing bells, so they may belong to someone, but they seem to wander just where they want to.
It is a cache pot.
