I was watching this video because my wife and I love your videos, and because we are leaving on the Gem in four days... What a surprise to see that the two of you stayed in the same stateroom we are booked in.
We sailed away from NYC on Anthem of the Seas this summer, you are right nothing like sailing away from there!

Amy, that first bridge at the pier is the GW,you will sail around the bottom of Manhattan and see the other bridges,have a great time ,we did that cruise on the Carnival Sunshine.

We missed the Verrazano Narrows bridge last year on Qm2 😂 but saw it on Amsterdam yrs ago.. I love NCL Jewel Class ships & after their dry docks they got the gorgeous seafoam green color💚+💙 lol
I did not know that just a balcony gets all the extras. I have a suite and get to eat in the stake house. I have always had balcony but we love the very back to the ship. Our next one on the Gem will be 10666 and 10664 and 10164

Elizabeth will be on the meet up cruise, I liked the last meet up when they played the game handing out the gifts. My best cruise (so far) was when the sister did Disney. Elizabeth makes me smile :) but Amy films good.
My favorite part was before they even went on the cruise. The airboat ride was so cool. When the guide reached out to touch the alligator was scary. It was amazing to me here in the midwest. Not many gators lol
Per social media Elizabeth isn't going on the group cruise.

aww the time lapse spoiled the sailing down the Hudson river especially when passing the statue of liberty as I would have loved to have seen the new York sky line in normal speed

First of all, thanks soooo much for all your vlog series. I REALLY appreciate the dedication it takes to bring us along on all of your adventurous vacations. You give us so much insight on cruise experiences. It helps so many of us in the process of planning cruises. I just have one suggestion, please remind Mahnara that the polite thing to do is to remove your shoes when you get into a bed. I've seen her get in the bed with shoes on her feet on numerous cruises. If she wants to do this @ home it just affects her, but in consideration of others who have to use these beds she should remove her footwear. I'm sure they don't clean all those bed spreads between passengers (they just change the sheets more than likely).
Hi! The cruise line leaves a bedrunner on the bed at all times (it's for your shoes so you don't get the bed dirty) :)

How did you get the VIP treatment when booking a balcony?
I have never taken a cruise. Can you recommend a good first time cruise? Also can you recommend a good cabin option?
Fish : depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. I think Royal Caribbean cruises have the best balance of high quality and value and are very popular all around and have the biggest and newest ships. Carnival cruises are on the lower end of the spectrum and and are cheaper with older ships but also very popular especially with younger folks who like to go wild and drink a lot. Celebrity cruises are generally more expensive and very high quality and very popular with more sophisticated people.

That bridge that you guys sailed under towards the end of the video is the Verrazano Bridge. It connects Brooklyn to Staten Island, you are facing Brooklyn and Staten Island is behind you.

I find it more quiet and relaxing. I like the dark. The window is just so bright and hot. For me it's a balcony or inside :)
I need a balcony just for the peace of mind knowing in case something catastrophic happens in the middle of the night and all of the electricity goes out and it's completely dark, I have a better chance getting off the ship from my balcony and won't be trapped deep inside of the ship's hull.

Best thing about Norwegian cruise line is their Thermal spa. Its unlike any other cruise line. Worth the weekly fee. I think they usually sell out the first day.
