    Door restrictor sounds smart. I will tell my parents. Thanks for the showing. Very helpful.

      I assume Home Depot has these kind of stuff.

    Thank you for this, I was looking for something but didn't know what exactly I was looking for. Would have liked to see how it prevents the door from slamming shut which is what I need it for but this was useful. Thank you.

    This is put on the wrong way around in the video.. I did mine the right way but a little out with measurements then watched your video and took down but did not work. Now put back right way and adjusted it. Perfect.

    Looks to me like you have it fitted the wrong way around. The channel goes in the top of the door and the other end fixes to the door frame. UAP do a restrictor, plus also Home Secure. Both have info on how to fit one like this.

      Interesting point, but this is how the instructions showed it.

    Great video, we need to save putting stoppers on the skirting board. Do these cushion the door shutting, so people can't slam it shut or bash the door into the frame?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, no it doesn't cushion the door shutting.

    Don't suppose it matters to how it works but that is installed the wrong way round. The sliding mechanism goes on the door, it looks a lot neater that way.

    Hi could you tell me where you bought this and the specific product name?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I brought this from ebay for £4.99, search for 'UPVC Door Restrictor' I purchased the 90 degree one. Hope that helps.

    It's a shame you have fitted it the wrong way round the slide is fitted to the head of the door and the pivot end to the frame.

    hi, can this ristrictor keep the door opened resisting wind that tries to shut it? If yes, can you plz demonstrate the mechanism. Thanks in advance.

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +nmkhalil Ibrahim sort of ... as part of the restrictor arm there is a screw if you tighten the door will feel stiffer to close but it won't hold the door open but we've had no doors slamming shut or closing so all good. Hope that makes sense.

    How does it stop the door from slamming shut?

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment there is tension on the bracket that stops it from slamming.

    • @BarracudaHawk

      @@GeekStreet Can you elaborate on that please - I can't grasp how it would stop the door slamming shut. Thanks.

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bracket has a small screw if you tighten it the bracket has more tension and then avoids it slamming shut especially when the wind blow against it.

    This will not work for long on a uPVC door. Perhaps a month, at most depending on us, and the screws will loosen as it won't have a secure grip in the material. The constant movement will loosen the screws very quickly.

    Wrong way round- the Eurogroove takes the long channel of the stay!

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Peter Linton this is what the instructions showed, I did try the other way round but from what I remember it didn't fit in the groove too well.

  • @keithmaddocks2618
    @keithmaddocks2618 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    you did it the wrong way around the slide channel fits on the door sash and the keep fixes to the frame 😂

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Keith Maddocks actually no, this is what the instructions showed and the slide bit on the door would not have fitted on the frame I did test it both ways.

    • @keithmaddocks2618
      @keithmaddocks2618 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been installing pvc windows and doors for nearly 20 years. your way for composite doors the other way if the slide track fits in the euro groove. The fixed plate 70mm from the frame edge. then with the slide pulled to its stop end, fix to door at the desired place to restrict the opening ie if used for a door stop etc...

  • @Grover895

    Did not work on my patio door. I had to tighten the restrictor screw right up tight ....it worked for a while but after some time the restrictor screw became loose again! No amount of adjustment would make a permanent solution.

  • @pete292

    Definitely the wrong way around. Slide fits on the door. Fixed point on the frame
