You don't have to be single dude. You can buy a shikibuton, which is a 2-3 inch thick floor mattress used traditionally in Japan, for 100-250 dollars on Amazon. Using a thin, Asian futon like this should not be too different from sleeping on the floor, and I am sure that most women, if they like you, would not be too turned off by a guy who uses such a mattress for the sake of improving his health. At anyrate, I think that the use of some kind of mattress, such as a Shikibuton or foam mattress topper with proper bedding and covers, would be much more acceptable to a woman than simply sleeping on the floor. I think that most could get over the use of an unconventional mattress if they liked the rest of the package. I think you are right in implying that having them sleep on the floor with you is probably a bridge too far. Some kind of thin, very firm mattress like a shikibuton is the best compromise I can think of.

I kept waking up, in pain and rolling over. Nevertheless, I notice, when I did get up, my face was not swollen, and I could feel the bottom of my feet. I slso looked at the clock and noticed, that I had gotten a descent amount of sleep, without constantly, going to the bathroom. My left hip swelling had also gone down. I felt great. I can now feel the bottom of my feet. This Morning, I want to give God the praise, He works in mysterious ways. who would have thought, my healing, would come from laying on a flat surface,. Been floor sleeping for about 6 months now! My journey happened about a year ago now when moved half way across the country. We left the mattress and box spring behind and moved into our apartment, that was meant to be temporary, with a pretty nice air mattress. The air mattress was ok but after several months it began losing significant amounts of air and we would wake up sunken into the bed and sore. We eventually said screw it and started sleeping on the floor with an old mattress topper, blankets, and pillows. She is right when she says there will be an adjustment period; my first couple weeks my hips felt bruised (no discoloring though) and it was hard to sleep without anything under my hip. Now I can sleep any which way and be fine. My body adjusted. I likely don’t intend on this being permanent though as someday when we do find a home, we want to purchase a mattress. Always keep an open mind! Thanks for sharing!!
@@marinjayden Less back issues if you sleep on the floor. When I threw out my back, my PT and Chiro friend suggested it. Healed 4x as fast and was fine a week later. Never looked back. Buy an organic shikibuton.
I have two friends who sleep on two yoga mats and a blanket, all stacked on a carpeted floor. It's one of the coziest spaces I've ever napped on! However, I'm quite a chunk so floor sleeping long term is not great for me. I'll stick with my bamboo mattress and spring frame lol
Floor sleeping is a loose term people who sleep on a tatami , futon , mattress topper ,thin foam mattress ,ETC they all call it floor sleeping but its really not floor sleeping is putting a bed sheet on a carpet or wooden floor other than that its just like a bed but the cushioning material is on the floor instead of being raised on a bed there is no difference between sleeping on a futon put directly on the floor or on a strong raised plywood platform bed the result is the same The most important thing is to understand your body needs in terms of cushioning material and thickness moderate weight peoble with shoulder injures cannot bear a firm mattress like a rebonded foam mattress they have to go for softer options on the other hand peoble with lower back injures like bulges or herniations have to sleep aligned (a straight line between ther head and feet) and this is the very reason there are about 7 grades of softness or hardness in most good quality mattress manufacturers also heavier individuals need firm mattresses if they want there bed to have any longivity to it as softer mattresses are designed for only thin to normal weight individuals if you want to go the diy route do it but understand your needs if you are heavy then go for rebonded foam with density of 80 to 90 5 inches thick then add a 2 inch medium density foam and finish it up with a layer of memory foam or soft foam or a fiber sheet if you are a normal weight individual this setup might be too much and you might want to replace that reponded foam with normal upholstery foam of course the foam has to be of high quality press on it and it should have a dense and consistent feed back some individuals love sleeping on cotton mattresses like japanese futons as it provides the most pressure relief if you like cotton then the futon has to be thicker if you are heavy and normal if you are a normal weight individual One thing to keep in mind any new bed or sleeping setup needs some break in time so give it time if you feel like the comfort level is not optimal And always protect your sleeping setup or mattress form your sweat and dead skin by using a waterproof mattress cover
I’ve been doing it since I was 12. I’m 23 now, no regrets. I sleep on hard wood floor with one pillow and either a sheet or blanket. I have a big bed but never use it.
But i have a risk if i sleep on floor. There is risk of getting insect in my ear after sleeping. For example , centipede etc. What is solution for that???
What I want to know is, do you ever wake up on your side? Because that's how I start to sleep and that's the way I usually wake up. My top pillow is on top and the other is on the floor. Blanket is partly under me and rest is tied up on my legs. Maybe I fight all night long and lose and that's why I usually wake up pissed up?
I have slept on the floor for almost a month and find its much more comfortable started a week before turkey day 2020 and my lower back pain completely gone. I put two thick blankets down and use neck pillow for a injury. I will never go back to the torture of a mattress
Yes my matrass got to the the bad point so I tried to use topper instead but was too painful for me as belly sleeper . I sure dont enjoy soft matrasses I like them firm but supportive . I can't sleep on my back no chance. I recommend firm service to anyone and they are all surprise why lady like me non stop advertise firm matrasses that are well made:) people think firm matrasses are only for heavy people. Great video
I slept on the carpet with a thin blanket under me last night. I got the best sleep I've had in months. I do need a different pillow, though. If the wind blasting outside last night hadn't woken me up twice, I would've slept even better! Not going back to a mattress.

I was desperate for some back bain relief and just sleeping on the floor for one night I feel soooo much better. I couldn't sleep on the mattress! I was in so much pain
When i was 7 i moved to my aunts apartment, and there was no room for a bed so i had to put a rug on the floor and a bed cover on top of it and i would sleep on it. Its terrible. The floor is very hard and i got used to it.
I think the word you're all looking for is FUTON XD there must be some statistics out there proving that the japanese don't have any of the rates of back pains and distorted spines that we do with our marshmellow matresses... and that solution sounds pretty expensive when you can just buy a futon for 100 bucs and if you feel fancy buy some tatamis. I had mine for over 9 years now and I'm absolutely happy. I was just recently thinking of getting and even thinner futon that I can roll up, but the one I have is pretty firm and even after years of flipping it over and turning it around. It's pure cotton with a layer of coconut fiber in the middle and people make fun of me for sleeping on a "wooden plank" hahah but what they say is true, when you get used to it you just cannot go back. Hotels and visiting friends is awful !! I usually wake up with back, hip and shoulder pain and it's just the worst. Once you get used to having your back and body properly supported anything else just doesn't make any sense, like why would you want to sink into your bed ? and dislocate all your limbs ? XD Oh yeah and a buckwheat pillow is another absolute game changer !! such a simple solution to all your neck problems !! because unlike a memory foam pillow, this one actually stays firmly into the position you put it and those can be endless! and what I did now changed everything, again, because I replaced half of the buckwheat with actual dried lavender leaves ! and you just feel like sleeping in a field of lavender and flowers ! and all of these are just sooo cheap by comparison it's just crazy.
it has demostrate multiple times is better for the back, you should made a comparison between traditional futons that are mostly cotton with the ones sold in western countries that have 1 or 2 layers of foam.
Oh my, the similarity of the Dr.s expressions and the acting of the main character in the show Resident Alien is almost perfect. No offence it is just what came to my mind. Great tips anyways. Thank you.
I thought this video was about floor sleeping, not sleeping closer to the floor. I've slept on the floor with a neck pillow, and my legs raised on an ottoman while sleeping on a padded carpet. It is relaxing without a doubt.
But i have a risk if i sleep on floor. There is risk of getting insect in my ear after sleeping. For example , centipede etc. What is solution for that???
I want to start sleeping on Japanese futon because I have scoliosis and some pretty bad neck pain. My only thing is I will eventually have to go back to a regular mattress when I move in with my boyfriend.
So sleeping on floor means sleeping on your back all night? What about sleeping on sides on floor ? As during sleep we do intend to sleep on our sides as well.
Jamil Baig: Excellent question. I have not slept on the floor, but I slept on a very firm, brand new mattress for 2 months, mostly on my side. I thought everything was fine, but after 2 months I developed the worst pain in my upper arms, along with numbness all the way down both arms into my hands. Scared me to death and sent me to the dr. to be checked for everything. In the end no doctor had any answer to what was causing it. I finally made the connection myself -- it was the too firm mattress causing nerve impingement in both shoulders. So I don't think I'll be sleeping on the floor on my side or my back. I'm now sleeping on the same firm mattress with a 1.5" memory foam topper added on and a good cervical pillow. And feeling MUCH better.
I bought a 600 euro matras, but it destroyed my back! I didn't want to throw it away bcuz it was so expensive. Now I sleep on a tatami mat with a futon. I hope this will be the answer for my back pain.
Sleeping on floor bc I’m homeless and have been “couch surfing “ for years , have back injuries and fibro and floor is killing me . My dear friend sent me a Japanese futon mat and futon mattress and it’s not helping at all still excruciating pain 😞 low back always locked up when I wake up and so painful
@Cielo Vida im sorry to hear that i hope god help u and bless u ❤️❤️ amen . I sleep om the floor and i use a pillow and 2 big big blankett as a matress+ a blankett to cover myself with, have u tried it ? Also wear socks when u sleep and shirt with full lenght on the arms . I use to sleep on this Indian rug, over a carpet, and it was really the best sleep. my fiance at the time used to say the rug had drugs in it, lol, because as soon as he, I & our dog laid on itm we went straight to sleep. However now we have tile floor, and its th most uncomfortable thing, I don't have that Indian rug anymore though.
So I have arthritis and sometimes when I need my back to get in better alignment I lay on the floor, only problem is I can’t do it for long because my arthritis can’t take the hard surface even with a 2inch topper, I want to make the transition, so I’m thinking a 6inch foldable mattress will get me there, but I worry that it’s going to be too much cushion and end up worse than my box spring with a 2 inch topper, perhaps a Thai mattress with my 2 inch topper? I really don’t know, and I really worry about wasting the money
I tried to search but couldn't find the answer online. Can you sleep DIRECTLY on a box spring? No mattress. Just a comfort memory foam topper - or layers of linens of you can't afford a topper-but NO MATTRESS. The internet didn't understand this research I was trying to do. If a box spring will hold the weight of a mattress plus your body, then it should be fine to sleep on on its own, right? I'm debating removing my mattress because it just is no good and laying down every linen we own - not literally. But I don't know. Please provide feedback. Would this be good or no?
Did you ever try sleeping directly on a boxspring? That's what I'm contemplating. I was thinking the same thing as you that if a box spring can support the weight of a mattress AND the person sleeping on it, then I ought to be able to sleep directly on the box spring.
It's not possible to sleep on my box springs. Too much open space covered with some synthetic fabric parts of the body would sag into those spaces and cause pain on the supported parts. Putting a piece of Plywood down then the bedding would work though.
But i have a risk if i sleep on floor. There is risk of getting insect in my ear after sleeping. For example , centipede etc. What is solution for that???
I would say it depends on your needs. Chiropractors practice in many different ways. Some adjust your spine only, some utilize other forms of therapy in conjunction with spinal adjusting. Some focus on biomechanics and your bodies ability to move in space. Some provide acupuncture, dry needling, dietary advice. You can find one that does all of the above or find one specific to your needs. I would recommend searching up local docs, go to their website and look at their mission statement, or modalities of care. If you still have questions give them a call and I’m sure they would be more than happy to answer any questions!
I have a hyper Kyphosis, I've always wanted to sleep on the floor but the only time I tried, I was in so much pain I cried (on the lower back, especially). I just wonder if it would ever be possible for me, and if maybe this could help fix my back?
I am legit on the hotel floor right now 🤣 I'm on vacation and there's not alot of room for me in the bed so I'm on the floor and thought are there TH-cam videos about this ... & Yes there is 🤣

I get deep, restful sleep when I sleep on the floor. Just give me a blanket and pillow. I can sleep almost anywhere. Lol
Except on a mattress lol
@@edwardbrock3807 hah!
Yup, floor for sleep. Bed for sex would be my motto.
Ive been sleeping on the floor for 6 years!
Nice! Any ideas or tips for the other viewers interested in floor sleeping?
@@marinjayden Less back issues if you sleep on the floor. When I threw out my back, my PT and Chiro friend suggested it. Healed 4x as fast and was fine a week later. Never looked back. Buy an organic shikibuton.
@@nutech1810 I second that recommendation.

"We have a doctor at home"
At home: Chiropractor
I have two friends who sleep on two yoga mats and a blanket, all stacked on a carpeted floor. It's one of the coziest spaces I've ever napped on!
However, I'm quite a chunk so floor sleeping long term is not great for me. I'll stick with my bamboo mattress and spring frame lol
I put 2x foam mattress topper on the floor, perfect. I'm gonna try using just one now, see how it goes
Floor sleeping is a loose term people who sleep on a tatami , futon , mattress topper ,thin foam mattress ,ETC they all call it floor sleeping but its really not
floor sleeping is putting a bed sheet on a carpet or wooden floor other than that its just like a bed but the cushioning material is on the floor instead of being raised on a bed there is no difference between sleeping on a futon put directly on the floor or on a strong raised plywood platform bed the result is the same
The most important thing is to understand your body needs in terms of cushioning material and thickness moderate weight peoble with shoulder injures cannot bear a firm mattress like a rebonded foam mattress they have to go for softer options on the other hand peoble with lower back injures like bulges or herniations have to sleep aligned (a straight line between ther head and feet)
and this is the very reason there are about 7 grades of softness or hardness in most good quality mattress manufacturers also heavier individuals need firm mattresses if they want there bed to have any longivity to it as softer mattresses are designed for only thin to normal weight individuals
if you want to go the diy route do it but understand your needs if you are heavy then go for rebonded foam with density of 80 to 90
5 inches thick then add a 2 inch medium density foam and finish it up with a layer of memory foam or soft foam or a fiber sheet if you are a normal weight individual this setup might be too much and you might want to replace that reponded foam with normal upholstery foam
of course the foam has to be of high quality
press on it and it should have a dense and consistent feed back
some individuals love sleeping on cotton mattresses like japanese futons as it provides the most pressure relief if you like cotton then the futon has to be thicker if you are heavy and normal if you are a normal weight individual
One thing to keep in mind any new bed or sleeping setup needs some break in time so give it time if you feel like the comfort level is not optimal
And always protect your sleeping setup or mattress form your sweat and dead skin by using a waterproof mattress cover
Is it okay to sleep daily on floor with just a thick blanket?
I recommend at least getting a tatami underneath instead of the regular floor but it wouldn’t hurt for a couple of nights!
I’ve been doing it since I was 12. I’m 23 now, no regrets. I sleep on hard wood floor with one pillow and either a sheet or blanket. I have a big bed but never use it.
Been sleeping on the floor 10+ years. Vegan 20+ years. Feel great.
But i have a risk if i sleep on floor. There is risk of getting insect in my ear after sleeping. For example , centipede etc. What is solution for that???

I usually just sleep on the floot when im stressed
What I want to know is, do you ever wake up on your side? Because that's how I start to sleep and that's the way I usually wake up. My top pillow is on top and the other is on the floor. Blanket is partly under me and rest is tied up on my legs. Maybe I fight all night long and lose and that's why I usually wake up pissed up?
🤣 But do you get restful sleep? That's all that matters!
Literally I make a bed with 2 large blankets layered, an oval small pillow for my neck, and a normal folded pillow for my legs. DIY bed 😂
That’s gangster bro
Been sleeping on the floor for years now, I will be 38 soon and my back feels Great 👌
I have slept on the floor for almost a month and find its much more comfortable started a week before turkey day 2020 and my lower back pain completely gone.
Great video
I've been floor sleeping for years on camper foam but want to upgrade. Considering a Western bed or a Japanese futon. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
I too want a Japanese futon mat thing.
I slept on the carpet with a thin blanket under me last night. I got the best sleep I've had in months. I do need a different pillow, though. If the wind blasting outside last night hadn't woken me up twice, I would've slept even better! Not going back to a mattress.
❤️🙌
For the blue knee support thing he gave you-is one pillow not good enough, high enough? Should i use two pillows?
I slept on the floor for a week and it felt amazing. I'm going to start again. And i slept without my pillow twice and it also felt better.
Are you still sleeping on the floor? How is it now do you get used to it easily?
@@AylinArmy At least for me the first 2 to 3 days i felt like i was ran over by a truck but then my body adjusted to the floor and it felt great. I started sleeping on the floor cuz i was curious then i realized that when i slept on the bed my shoulders and neck ached in the morning and when i slept on the floor (after my body got usetd to it) i woke up without any discomfort.
It worked for me i don't know if it'll work for you.
Oh okay thankyou! 😀

Crazy how much the pillow under the knees makes a difference
I was desperate for some back bain relief and just sleeping on the floor for one night I feel soooo much better. I couldn't sleep on the mattress! I was in so much pain
When i was 7 i moved to my aunts apartment, and there was no room for a bed so i had to put a rug on the floor and a bed cover on top of it and i would sleep on it. Its terrible. The floor is very hard and i got used to it.
Great video. Can you make a video on how to sit on a couch or good posture for sitting up on a floor?
Great suggestion!
I sleep on the streets

Oh my, the similarity of the Dr.s expressions and the acting of the main character in the show Resident Alien is almost perfect. No offence it is just what came to my mind. Great tips anyways. Thank you.
How curious. However I find the comfort of my memory foam bed much superior. The best thing I've ever slept on and I didn't need to "get used to it".
I thought this video was about floor sleeping, not sleeping closer to the floor. I've slept on the floor with a neck pillow, and my legs raised on an ottoman while sleeping on a padded carpet. It is relaxing without a doubt.
They said that bed only had 2 in of cushion on plywood. I think they used that to show the position better but it simulates floor sleeping
So sleep on the floor is beneficial which means firm mattress is more better than soft one ?
Nat Genesis no.. get a Japanese futon
I'm going to be doing an update on this really soon
If you have sleep breathing disorders, then it would be better to sleep on your side rather than on your back.
@@marinjayden hi beautiful. What about the update video. When it will be aired.
I’m sleeping on the floor tonight I just set up shop next to my bed I’m already feeling better
I bought a 600 euro matras, but it destroyed my back! I didn't want to throw it away bcuz it was so expensive. Now I sleep on a tatami mat with a futon. I hope this will be the answer for my back pain.

What do you do during the winter (if you don't want to freeze)
So I have arthritis and sometimes when I need my back to get in better alignment I lay on the floor, only problem is I can’t do it for long because my arthritis can’t take the hard surface even with a 2inch topper, I want to make the transition, so I’m thinking a 6inch foldable mattress will get me there, but I worry that it’s going to be too much cushion and end up worse than my box spring with a 2 inch topper, perhaps a Thai mattress with my 2 inch topper? I really don’t know, and I really worry about wasting the money
Some pillows with a good mattress topper on top of them and a memory foam pillow works for me.
I have been sleeping on floor from 23 years

How should I pick a Chiropractor?
I would say it depends on your needs. Chiropractors practice in many different ways. Some adjust your spine only, some utilize other forms of therapy in conjunction with spinal adjusting. Some focus on biomechanics and your bodies ability to move in space. Some provide acupuncture, dry needling, dietary advice. You can find one that does all of the above or find one specific to your needs. I would recommend searching up local docs, go to their website and look at their mission statement, or modalities of care. If you still have questions give them a call and I’m sure they would be more than happy to answer any questions!
Bringing on a chiropractor for medical expertise really diminishes your credibility. Why not get an actual doctor?
Wow his voice
What about the other aspects such as cold air, dust....?
