    lootas/burnas are in fact the same kit, in the rules you can take a spanner and four lootas/burnas or just five lootas/burnas but the kit only comes with four deffgunz/burnas so you have to build the spanner :(
    odds are if you are wanting to buy lootas/burnas you want to fluff your army with some more elite models
    what i suggest doing is buy two lootas/burnas kits and an ork boys kit, build your ten lootas or burnas and then you can use the ork boys torsos and legs to build a ten boy squad of the other unit

      Pasta Marc I can confirm the Lootas and Burnas are the same kit. Need 4 boxes to get 15 Lootas without the spanner. The bodies are the same as the Ork Boys so instead of buying 4 more boxes of Burnas, just buy 1-2 boxes of Boys and kitbash what’s left over and you got your Burnas.

      @jaromswenson7541 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the unfortunate thing is that that set has the defkopta mixed with boys and some space marine bits, so they can pprint the spue for the defkopta, but youll get random ork and spacemarine bits. though i dont mind this myself since i like converting with randum buts, but GW wants to look "professional" i guess?

    • @athel06
      @athel06 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Since the models were sculpted already, it wouldn’t have taken much to separate it from the sprue and include other weapon options, as at the time, big shootas were also a weapon choice, not just rokkit launchers. If they did that with the warboss as well, that could have been two solid plastic kits that the orks could have done with to go with the trucks and bikes that were redone

  • @6Stevo
    @6Stevo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They’re also very easy to assemble and paint to a battle ready standard, which when you’re going for a green tied approach is great. I fear they’d make them a little too unique and it would take ages to paint which, when you have 90boys on the board you don’t need

    • @anotherzingbo
      @anotherzingbo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, the plastic warboss was packaged as Gitzog Wurldkilla when Kill Team: Commanders came out. Unfortunatley like the other Commanders packs they were single run releases and haven't been reprinted. It was noted at the time that this was the first standalone release of that miniature.

    • @PavelThorsonos
      @PavelThorsonos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He also was like, massively overpriced. You'd pay *technically* less than for the pack with him and the nobs, but iirc it was effectively a box of nobs for 5 euros on top if you went for the pack instead for the Killteam version.
      The commander packs were all over the place price-wise.

    • @anotherzingbo
      @anotherzingbo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PavelThorsonos the pricing decision for the Kill Team: Commanders models was odd. In the UK they were all £20, so for some (the Broodlord and the Primaris Librarian, off the top of my head) they were actually cheaper than their regular releases and for others (the Commissar was a particularly bad example) they were marked up heavily.
      Grukk's Boss Mob is £32.50. It may have been a bit cheaper a year and a half ago but I expect it would amount to an extra £10 for the nobz, though the Kill Team box did have some other stuff that was sort-of useful for Kill Team players such as myself.

    • @PavelThorsonos
      @PavelThorsonos 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anotherzingbo yeah, I actually grabbed those two because they were just the cheaper alternative. (Iirc least in europe the Tech priest dominus one also was better, but the rest were varying degrees of weird.
      Tbh, 10 pounds for a box of nobs sounds like a reasonable deal, though? It's certainly less than the nobs box costs. That's my point: The Killteam box was still not the best way of getting him alone. If you find a use for 5 nobs for cheap... I dunno.
      And I found the Killteam extras of those boxes pretty forgettable. I love Killteam, but the extra specialism and stuff didn't cut it for me.

    Grukk Face-rippa is a slightly modified version of the Warboss from Black Reach. They also recycled the Space Marine Captain from that box into another unnamed one.
    The standard Boys were updated early in 5th, but many of their bits were kept looking the same as the 3rd edition ones. The Gretchin are also from 5th.
    The Lootaz and Burna Boyz are indeed the same kit, and their leader is a Mek.
    The Deffkopta is currently the oldest Ork model, dating back all the way to the 2nd edition, followed by Dok Grotsnik and the Warboss with Big Choppa, who are both from 3rd.

  • @MizantropMan
    @MizantropMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    And that warboss is also monopose, with a single choice of wargear. What gives?
    I have two Assault on the Black Reach warbosses, one of which I got when I started the game back in 2010. It's a classic model, carrying a ton of nostalgia. Why not bring it back? Put him on a rock or something to fit the "modern range" and be over with it.
    Or, idk, do what we've been begging for for years and give us a build-your-warboss/big mek box, with a ton of additional bits that can also be used for "improving" vehicles of other factions while making scrap-tanks.
    But what am I saying. I'm just a hobbyst who's been in love with 40k for a decade, what I want to see in the game doesn't matter. How silly of me to forget that for a moment.

    Since I still have a lot of the old sprues, my boyz mobs mix 3rd ed, AoBR and the modern stuff, plus some WFB Orc Warrior Regiment boxes (since the kits where compatible) ver an excellent ammount of variety.

  • @Wakshaani
    @Wakshaani 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So people have already commented on the Lootas and Burnas being the same kit, so, I'll let you know why the Warlord's mixed in with the Nobz:
    They can't sell Nobz kits.
    I mean, they *exist*, you can *buy* them, but nobody does because they had a set in every Black Reach box, and most Ork playres wound up with 2-6 of those boxes, so had loads more Nobs than they needed. Other sets that would come out, like the Start Collecting set, then had the Nobz models added to them because GW had a TON of them printed and nobody was buying them, so *plunk* in they went. Since they *STILL* had a bunch, then a new box got made of the Warlord with Nobz added in, saying, "Well, surely they'll buy them THIS time, right?"
    Nobz are positively *glutted* but they need to make their money back on them, so they get slotted into everything that Ork players have to buy now, but that just further gluts the world. Check out second hand sellers and you'll see that Nobz are sold for less than standard Boyz due to just how many are out there. It's a might tragic, but there it is all the same.
    Personally, I wish that they'd release a new Warlord model, two sprues, maybe even three, that was packed with all the options, so that you could build your own and do it up RIGHT, but the new GW style is for complicated monopose, rather than kitbashy style, to cut into third-party sellers. I don't think it'll ever happen, despite how badly it *needs* to happen.

    The Lootas and Burnas are the same kit and the leader is just the Mek that comes in the box that’s why they’re the same. And there is a second plastic warboss other than Grukk that most of us Ork players have from the Assault on Black Reach box and he’s normally on eBay for less than a tenner posted. I do think the age is showing on a load of the Ork infantry anyway and maybe they should have been replaced rather than bringing out a load of new vehicles a few years ago.

    Grukk was part of the Orks Vs Space wolves box circa 6th/7th ed.
    The AOBR Warboss in plastic was a variant on the the earlier metal Warbosses.
    The two metal Warbosses had the same body, different everything else. One was released with the 3red ed dex, one with Codex Armageddon.

    The people usually asking for remodeled ork boyz are people that don’t main orks. Sure maybe not all true ork players feel as attached to the current models but I know I’m not alone in saying I would be unhappy to see them changed. Ork boyz are great and the kit for them is as well. It’s full of options and guns. However your comment on the deff dread resonated with me as well that thing is awesome. As a matter of fact I felt like my own opinions for most of these from an aesthetic stand point were very similar to your own

    Seems like everyone hates the old Deffkopta, but I love it. Sure, it's out of date (20+ years at this point) but you can, with a little bodging, convert it into a delightfully retro Ork Stormboy and use what's left over as a sidecar for the classic Ork Biker.

    Good ol' Grukk Facerippa. Honestly, he was the main reason I got the Stormclaw box back during the Sanctus Reach campaign. That box also had Krom Dragongaze for the Space Wolves which you can still buy separately, fyi.
    Thankfully I knew a guy who was collecting SW at the time and we split 2 boxes between us. Now they're still sitting there, on sprue, since I can't commit to a colour scheme or klan for their background. Some day, though... some day...

    Great vid man but you brought up something that has always bothered me. Converting things, not converting itself but GW rules and converting has always been bad about things like LoS, WYSIWYG and Proxies. Privateer Press (Warmachine) came up with such an easy formula to get around the converting issue- model height is assigned to base diameter. Games between friends are one thing but, pick-ups (w/strangers) and competitive things tend to be too restrictive because they don't have clear outlines for converted models. I've converted lots of models, 3rd Ed DG player, but there is always the same issue with rules and converted models. Have you had any issues/misunderstandings about what you are fielding with all of you converted models?

I knew I wanted either of what I collected back then either Blood Angels & Goffs since the 3rd Ed box set came with marines & orks & black & red was my 13 yo mes favourite colours. Might get in trouble with the orks though as apparently orks are racist now according to the hyper woke libtards on twitter you know the pronouns in the bio type of fuckwits. As much as I like the new Deff Dread I'm quite nostalgic for the old metal one. It was a pain in the ass to build and it's quite heavy but it still fits in nicely with the current Orks. In fact, I've got the plastic Kans and metal Dread and side by side they still work. With the Deffkopta I'm still amazed they never went anywhere with the Black Reach ones. The weapons were basic (it was a starter set after all) and the design probably wouldn't fit super well anymore but it was a good starting point. Much better than the ONE THEY STILL SELL!

    I definitely agree with you on the first large orc vehicle (can’t recall its name). If they were going to bother building such a big moving tower vehicle thing that clearly has a lot of room in the lower skirt like portion, why wouldn’t they put in as many guns and weapons as room allows? I could see anti infantry machine guns and maybe a couple rocket launchers or something, and a second smaller chain sword coming out of the lower front to clear away any enemy units close to the base. As it is now it seems like a massive waste of effort for them to build that big ass thing and only have two weapons on it.

    On the Scrapjet: Perhaps its the fact that it looks very clean and uniform by ork standards, like the ork simply grabbed an aircraft, sliced off the wings and put on wheels. It doesnt feel as orky, the paintjob is uniform and proper to what a human might do, not so much an ork, like compare the body to the body of an ork bomber, and to me that clears up why it doesnt feel quite right. Still think its a great model. Just my two cents on it,-
    PS, it also has a streamlined look - i want to say smooth, where as most ork vehicle are angular or at least have plates, bits and bobs ruining any idea of smooth airflow.
