Actually, he is a legend. Hong Kong is one of the world’s strongest racing jurisdictions with phenomenal purse money. It is a limited horse population dependent on importing horses rather than breeding their own. But if you look at the quality of racing at the group 1 level, except for the 12furlong(2400 m) division, the recent Hong Kong stars have proven difficult for shippers to defeat and have shipped out and won a $2.5 million(US) race in Qatar, won a group 1 in Dubai. Just when Hong Kong was seeing Beauty Generation leave the scene, a single crop containing Romantic Warrior, Califronnia Spangle, and Russian Emperor along with a centerpiece horse like Golden Sixty along with Wellington, Lucky Sweynesse and and as reflected in almost any internatiional rankings or ratings this generation of Hong Kong horses are probably the best in its history and these horses are level with the best of any other jurisdiction. So, within this historic period there is a horse in Romantic Warrior that won theHong Kong Derby and then in open races has won the April Festival’s richest and most prestigious races, the Queen Elizabeth 2, niow 3 years running, and the December Festival’s richest and most prestigious race, the Hong Kong CUP the last. 2 years and went to Australia and took down a Cox Plate, and now has gone to Japan, a jurisdiction outsiders have all but quit trying as impossible, and taken Japan’s mid-season Mile Championship, most certainly makes Ronmantic Warrior a HK and thus international legend.
@@christroytrigger.1419 Maybe not for talent but for achievement, he's outstanding. 8 Group 1's in three different Countries. Prestigious races in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. He certainly won't be forgotten :)
@@田所浩二-l9l There's plenty of horses who could be legends in England. If you also count Ireland then Auguste Rodin has an even better C.V than Romantic Warrior. Rosallion is a top-class miler. City of Troy is something special. Even Rebels Romance if he wins another big race will be along side Romantic Warrior.
Romantic Warrior is a great champion and he proved it today. He is courageous and tough. He beat the best Japan has to offer and I think he is one of HK's greats besides Golden Sixty.
Yes a truly special horse and surely this win will nudge him a bit closer to being called the world's best. Five group 1s on the spin, not many can do that.
Another victory in Japan for Hong Kong! It's been a long time since Aerovelocity won the Takamatsunomiya Kinen! Romantic Warrior, you are the true champion!
Winning 1600m in Japan even though that's not his best distance is just proving everyone this guy is the best race horse in the past 8-10 months... definitely he is Hong Kong all time great respect to golden sixty beauty generation and silent witness but I just feel like winning 1 race in Australia and Japan is not easy
Still remember back to 1998 with the emerge of Indigenous, Oriental express and Fairy king Prawn etc, almost no one believed in me HK trained horses were reaching G1 level. This warrior I can say is the best in terms of versatality and bulletproof. His strength is always with right attitude for superb gate speed to be put in a good position.
These horses have improved massively in the last few years, however I still feel they lack the speed & class to win an English Derby or even an Arc de triumph the two the would love to add to there c.v.
@@christroytrigger.1419 no kidding you meant to say HK trained horses to win the Derby and Arc? I thought you say Japan bred horses which their only problem is their turf condition there is a huge disadvantage for them to get used to compete in EU especially France but you still saw El condor pasa almost won the Arc, which I still rated him the best horses in Japan ever even better than Equinox in terms of versatility.
Massive congratulations to Hong Kong fans from Japan! We were very happy to witness the quality of brave warrior.
He's won G1s in HK, Australia and Japan. A truly great horse.

What a horse, a beast, a legend!
Good horse certainly not a legend.

Very British/irish bred horse doing good over seas.
Best horse since Winx.

Quality at play as it dropped back to 2 furlongs and still won.

I cannot believe he is only 6!!!!
He's a gelding, or he wouldn't have his racing career as a 6yo.

That has to be the WORST race call! However what an awesome horse, just can’t do anything wrong.
