A lot of complicated feelings led to me to joining the military, it’s the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. For an entire week before drill I find my body going into some kind of survival mode, I have a terrible time sleeping, my heart rate shoots up every time I think about it, and I get easily irritated or DEEP in my feels. It’s so weird to be a slave to your body because of a conscious choice you made. And yet here I am switching between this and 1 hour space song just trying to relax my body to sleep for the 4 hours I have left before I have to “wake up” If I could give a piece of advice to anyone thinking about making a multi-year/potentially life altering decision I beg that you ask yourself if you’re really passionate about it. Don’t make decisions with the intent to just endure it, I know that sounds obvious but I really could have used someone to drill that reality into my head. And if I can spare anyone the pain by god I’ve got to at least try.
Bit late brother but many of us have been there, it's supposed to feel that way. Everything will make sense and feel better once you are out of boot camp. I hope you didn't give up, it's a tough regret if you did. I was in boot camp in 1994, we weren't allowed music or personal items. I really enjoyed getting my cds and Walkman back on the bus ride to tech school. It all gets better, just gotta push through the suck sometimes.
