life isn't just about being a better person. maybe he rides planes and travels a lot just because he loves to. success is a broad word. the truth is, there are "measurements" for success. some succeed when it comes to relationships, jobs, wealth, personal life goals in doing what they love, etc.

Seems like he spends more time in airport lounges, planes and hotels than actually visiting any city or country. I only see flying as a means to get there.

Even though things have been tightened up a lot in the last 1-2 years, I think it's generally agreed that getting the most out of travel hacking works only if you're based in the United States. The sheer range of credit card 'benefits' (if that's the right word) aren't all that common elsewhere, except perhaps if you're a high net worth individual. Otherwise, you're likely to be someone who has to travel a lot...for work.

Purchase money orders with the said GC's. Money orders cashed and deposited to bank account. Pay off CC's in full. Use gained points for travel. It's a cycle.

I mean, it's actually quite possible. Without a credit card, I've been able to get a good use out of my Delta Skymiles and Southwest Rapid Rewards points. The credit card gives you a huge bonus and maximizes those points, but only if you use it wisely.

Cool concept. Not sure I could do that for a living. But to each their own.
My wife and I travel hacked in preparation for our year long honeymoon. We ended up getting the following flights for free:
Shanghai to Seattle, Seattle to Atlanta, Atlanta to New York, Seattle to Guatemala City, and Quito to Seattle. We flew economy but we we're backpacking and budgeting pretty tight to stretch our time on the road. I ended up using Upgraded Points and a few other travel hacking blogs to get ideas to maximize the points and plan what credit cards to use. Most Americans can do this and it only takes a little discipline to plan out. Just be sure to pay off the credit cards each month.

You have to constantly keep up with every little bonus and trick and you have to spend lots more time planning which cards to use where and which airlines, and where you want to go. It's just a ton of variable to consider. Plus most of these credit cards have Annual fees.

how much is that blog of his raking in? geez.
I prefer destinations over the journey tho. flying can be kinda fun, but its basically a loading screen for real life. like its cool to be in the air and all, but its just a cramped hotel room at best.

Ok what people don’t understand is it’s not about how much you spend it’s about how often you fly. These people rack up tons of miles because of how often they fly. By doing that you can fly first class for the price of coach. However, credit cards do help but it’s all about how often you fly and how many miles you travel.

Honestly I dread flying because the TSA and security check points. Not to mention the heavy traffic around the airport. I really try to avoid flying if I can, I always link airport with long lay overs, long lines and exhausted passengers.

But I tried applying on the website & it wouldn't allow me to because I'm not at least 50. It looks like a few years ago they had a membership option with no age limit, but I can't find it anymore

im on disability for a mental illness i suffer from. i have never worked a day in my life nor college i have one the most undemanding life styles of getting up and sleeping when i want and what to do from keeping myself board. for the last 7 years i have found a hobby/addiction to flying to nearby cities such as LA/SD/ LAS /PHX trips with a budget of 50-100$ flights out of my backpack sometimes i come home same day or stay 1-4 nights in room under 50$ i love the hassle and bustle moving thru the airports n and out into new territories. on a given year i will fly to vegas 4 times always the same low thrills carrier out of my backpack at that cheap hotel with the cheap food specials for a night or 2 but can add up to a 500-1k$ a year costly habit for 4 micro vacations. i go alone and very little with me like the guy in the video. Understanding the video is complex for me but would this benefit me ?
