@@michaelnelson1128 Doug marland was the one who rescued gh back in 1978 until Gloria monty crossed him just like Gail kobe did at at this show but Alan potter did mess with Doug Marlands scripts during summer 1982 Robert Newman Confirmed this when discussing how Doug Marland hid out in Nantucket all summer so nobody could find him only delivering scripts the day of filming. Their defenetely was a pattern of trying to mess with Doug Marland let's see Gloria monty wanting to pair Luke and Laura together after Doug Marland wrote it clearly as a then tried to whitewash it as a seduction only it was not. But not to fear Roger falling to his death was his way of sending a strong message as he intended to kill Luke at general hospital. Ohh let's see ABC and loving and making Doug Marland can his lily slater incest storyline by the hands of her father hint that was playing out while the Beth Raines Bradley Raines storyline was playing out. And that's what made Doug Marland tell ABC see you jenifer ashe can talk about that as she played Lilly slater before Meg Snyder. And you will notice at as the world turns rapists died or got shot with one exception and that was rod Landry
I never saw this before. GL was on fire and it’s a shame that Marland couldn’t complete his stories without interference from EP Potter. They could have won so many more!
And it's even more shameful when Doug Marland moved to "As The World Turns", a show who give him more freedom to create more incredible storylines like he did, he NEVER get an Emmy for his amazing writing on ATWT! That's so unfair!
P&G evetually realized their horrible mistake and lured Marland back, giving him the choice of either ATWT or returning to GL. Wonder if he could have saved GL and also if he chose ATWT because GL had already been so horribly gutted already that he thought it was beyond salvaging.

Too bad the entire broadcast of the Daytime Emmys isn’t available. Also, this was the second win of only three wins for Best Daytime Drama. First time was in 1980, 1982, and it wouldn’t happen again until 2007.
They should have won a bunch between 90-95. The writing team that included Nancy Curlee, Stephen Demorest, Lorraine Broderick, Jim Reilly and Patrick Mulcahey through those years was incredible.
I think everyone assumed GH was going to win but GL was on fire. It was like the Broadway theater. It was soooo good. Great memories.
Years later GH has taken over as the most awarded soap opera ever and most iconic of all time
