I remember the olden days. The awards were during the daytime and they would rotate between channels and so basically the channel that had it would preempty their soap operas so that they could run the show. So basically you had the show start like 2 in the afternoon and run until 5 in the afternoon that day usually between May and September.
It brought tears to my eyes to hear the audience applaud so enthusiastically for Charita Bauer. Bert Bauer was one of a kind and GL was never the same without her.
Oh how I miss the soaps! When I was growing up, ABC and CBS had 4 each and NBC had 3. My beloved Grammy wouldn’t take the phone off the hook between 1230-4. 🤣
I miss the old days. So many are gone now, the stars and shows😥☹️. My daughter was a baby then. I remember this show. Ah, we were all so young. Thanks for sharing these.👍♥️
This was cool to watch. The outfits, jewelry and big hair....I can smell the hairspray😂😂!! And, in 2023 every single game show in the game show category is currently on the air...that's amazing!!
I remember watching this when it aired. Kristian Alfonso looks stunning. Actually, everyone looks amazing. Of course, we were all younger which probably helps. LOL!!!!! Good memories.
This was probably the only one time that Bob Barker knew and met Peter (No Whammies) Tomarken at the 12th Daytime Emmy Awards. Sometimes I wonder if Peter appear on The Price is Right and did the plug his game show Press Your Luck.
@Dapar--- I personally, have been able to enjoy this Show at least 20 rimes over the last 3 months thanks to you!!!!! These vintage classic Daytime Emmy Awards Broadcasts are so treasured by all of us Soap Fans. They bring back countless great memories and are so so so rare to easily find. Thanks to you, w have been able to 'Go back to 1985' anytime we want since May. Smile~~Jaymes (Popstarboy).
popstarboy I appreciate the kind words! I only wish I had more shows from this era to share with everyone. I’m pleased to hear it brought back great memories for you.
Thanks for uploading! It looks like All My Children (my favorite soap) was the only non CBS soap to win at this ceremony. Luckily the victories they got were deserved i.e. Darnell Williams for Lead Actor & for Writing Team.
A trip to the 1985 Daytime Emmys was a prize on Press Your Luck that Summer. Peter Tomarken presented here while Press Your Luck never got nominated for best show nor TOmarken for best host.
1:41:07 The look of defeat on Susan Lucci's face before the winner was even announced. You could tell the losing streak was taking its toll on her even then.
Something else, daytime stars were always dressed so nice and so classy. Their awards shows were and still are the best👍♥️♥️

Larry gates was a gem of a find for GL, I'm so glad he got recognized! Thanks for uploading this!

This was cool to watch. The outfits, jewelry and big hair....I can smell the hairspray😂😂!! And, in 2023 every single game show in the game show category is currently on the air...that's amazing!!
Between Kim Zimmer's spikey big hair and Darnell Williams' Miami Vice inspired outfit...this is definitely the 80s! LOL
Have you seen any spiked hairdos that screaming Patti LaBelle wears from time to time

A lovely acceptance speech by Beth Maitland. (First category at 0:46.)
I thoroughly enjoyed the 80s, despite only having been born in 1984!
OH those were the days. Susan Lucci had no Emmy and the drama and suspense was a big thing. Kim Zimmer looked crazy.
So much talent in one room. Amazing! Thank you so much for uploading!
Thanks for uploading this. I love looking at vintage fashion from the 80s! :-)
You can tell this was back in the day before stars had stylist & they dressed themselves!🤭 Gotta love the 80's!

Academy Award winner Melissa Leo was nominated for Best Ingenue! That was a pleasant surprise!
They had beautiful fashion in the 80's.

DARNELL WILLIAMS IS A WONDERFUL ACTOR AND DESERVED HIS EMMY WIN 😀👍👍 CONGRATULATIONS JESSE
Melody rocking a rhinestone New York Ranger jersey!
A trip to the 1985 Daytime Emmys was a prize on Press Your Luck that Summer. Peter Tomarken presented here while Press Your Luck never got nominated for best show nor TOmarken for best host.
Ikr. Both should have gotten nominated.
R.I.P. Bob Barker, & Phil Donahue!!!?
I love this so much.
Kim Zimmer channeled her inner Patti LaBelle "New Attitude"
Thank You So Much
Y&R was solid during this era!
Darnell Williams snatching the Emmy from one of Barker's beauties.....too funny
Kim Zimmer looks like a Caucasian *Patti LaBelle!!*
Love Darnell Williams / Jesse All my Children
1:41:07 The look of defeat on Susan Lucci's face before the winner was even announced. You could tell the losing streak was taking its toll on her even then.
She was very pretty but not that great of an actor
Kim Zimmer was rocking her '80's Patti Labelle hairdo!
You goooooooo REVA GUIDING LIGHT
That scene with Reva in the fountain was one of the most iconic daytime scenes ever.
9:44 This was sadly two months before Johnny Olsen's death.
The 12th Daytime Emmy Awards was Johnny Olson's final moments.
The magic words uttered by the greatest voice of America... 10:34
Anyone looking for Brian Bloom's win and speech, it's at 25:18
i bet zimmer looks back on this and wishes she chose a less feral look.
OMG! The women's hair do's lmbo the 80's were great
Please tell me you have more Daytime Emmy ceremonies from the 80s. This decade was perfect!
Sadly, I don’t. I have other award shows on tapes somewhere, but they are from the 1990’s.
@@dapar76 this is the good retro video 📹 of the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Love it!
Wow I love bo and nicki
Excited that Darnell Williams became a second black actor to win a Emmy after Al Freeman won.Happy Black History Month.
Amen 🙏🏿
A very DESERVING EMMY AWARD!!!!
Guiding Light!!
Kim Zimmer's hair was A LOT!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Luv it😂
Guiding Light!!!!!
Sorry we were an ABC soaps family: Ryan's hope, ABC, OLTL.
1:08:41 congrats to Sonia Manzano and Emilio Delgado. Rip emilio as Luis
Pat Sajak and Vanna @ 48:24 😂😂😂 the comedic timing like a classic comedy team
All those empty tables 😂
Dang look like MEK. I can see why they called him Tad the Cad now.
Hope was a True Beauty
More please!!
The hair!!
Poor Tony is blocked by other guests, who played Herb Calison
Where’s outstanding children’s animated program
I see youthful Jason Alexander with lots of hair in a burger commercial starting at 43:19
Didn't General Foods retire the familiar logo earlier that year?
Beth
Kim Zimmer can act but I hated Reva Shane. Turning GL into Reva Shane Show was part of downfall of GL.
1:41:43 So *THAT'S* what Patti LaBelle looks like as a Caucasian!
Funny, cause Miss Patti is nominated on this year for outstanding individual performance in a variety show and im looking for it haha
What is this all the old guys.
back when they had class... very entertaining...
I had forgotten that Bob hosted the 1985 Emmys.
Even by 1980s standards, Kim Zimmer‘s hair just looks ridiculous. And coming in second is Susan Lucci‘s hair.
