I’ve been doing this for a few years. Also I cut up old carbon fiber to the size of battery and slip it in before heating shrink up. Gives awesome protection to bottom slung lipos
Nice one brother. Might even cut a bit out of the top so you can tell what battery it is. I would forget after 2 days and get all my batteries mixed up lol.
So! u wanna support the guy that makes the batteries but u don’t leave a link where to get them...or did I miss something? Great heat shrink though, thanks for the link.
Do this to all my batteries, take time with heat gun, excessive heat will nuke your lips. I get 4 or 5 going at same time, and rotate them, heating each about 4 times.
Most battery brands use the cheap heat shrink because........ Well, mainly Because it's cheap, But also because the thick rubbery stuffs a surprisingly good thermal insulator. If you push a pack hard it's not going to radiate heat as effectively through the thick heat shrink as it would with the thin stuff. On the other hand, For people who are still learning to fly quads, and have reasonably high C packs that they're not constantly pushing to the limit, It might be worth them replacing the shitty thin wrap with the thicker stuff to give the cells that added level of protection against getting punctured in a big crash. It could mean the difference between having a pack that bounces against the ground and survives rather than bursting into flames and toasting anything that would have been salvageable on your quad with it.
Heat gun the crap out of the tape before you stick it on! The 'almost' surelock tape i use kept popping off the frames in a crash, heated it up before putting it on the simplex build! It ain't ever coming off the frame now
Great tip! I have been using the Clear Polyolefin so I can still see the label on the battery, but it's a lot more expensive than the black version you found, which was a great find. I'm only getting about 5m for about 10 bucks, also from Amazon, but you have to be careful because sometimes you see the PVC version, which is the same crap the batteries already come with and ain't the good stuff, which is Polyolefin. By the way, I also got some thin carbon fiber sheets and cut it up the size of the battery and heat shrunk it inside the Polyolefin for added protection for the bottom side. It's a job to work with the carbon fiber but I hate losing a battery from a bad crash and with me that's too often...just saying.
Thanks. Unfortunately, I have been a battery "jumper" for some time now so I have a crap load of different batteries. Always looking for that perfect lipo... But it's just nice to know what I am flying and it makes noting the date I put it into service easy to see. I also put a hash mark on the pack with each charge cycle so I have an idea what's going on. I'd like to say it's made a huge difference but hell, I have no idea at this point as I kill a cell or lose them long before they die of old age...lol
Yup, I have several multi cell lipo testers, and even keep one my keychain, so I never leave home without one. Of course there was that one time I checked a battery after a crash and left my keys on the ground, so there's two hours of my life I will never get back, searching for those damn keys...lol I keep a tester hanging from TX too, so the one on my keys is a last resort kind of thing. You live and learn until you can't...always something new to learn or you're a deadman...just saying.
I know you would love the electrical tape I wrap my batteries in almost as much as you would like the tape on my quads lol... can't wait to watch the rant... I am late ;)
I know this vid is over 2 years old but do you still have any of this shit? Would you sell me like enough for 10 lipos, 1500mah 4s(4ft?) for say $10 dollah? lol
dont know if you guys cares but if you are bored like me atm you can stream all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of months xD
Personally I think Barwell has a lot to offer . I feel you should worry more about your own channel and calm your tongue . Great video but i didn't subscribe due to your own ignorance . Your language and attitude are less then par . I do not mean this to be harsh in anyway just constructive criticism .
Oh my ! The bardwell troops are out for you jj ? Even though i like bardwell, i think he is a good guy and i watch his videos and im a patron to his site . I think its all in good humour, Only lefty libs hate humour.
Can we use a hair blower?
I’ve been doing this for a few years. Also I cut up old carbon fiber to the size of battery and slip it in before heating shrink up. Gives awesome protection to bottom slung lipos
Ohhhh that’s a great idea brother.
witch size should i use for a 1400mah 6s battery (40mm wide battery)? tnks
Is 50mm the size of the tubing after it is heated?
Nice one brother. Might even cut a bit out of the top so you can tell what battery it is. I would forget after 2 days and get all my batteries mixed up lol.
Lolol. All my quad batteries for standard quads are 1300 90c don’t care lol
i just use old bicycle inner tube, works great too.
Hey brother, yes I’ve heard that works well too!!!
I used this idea, thanks for it!
So! u wanna support the guy that makes the batteries but u don’t leave a link where to get them...or did I miss something? Great heat shrink though, thanks for the link.
Lolol thanks brother. Yes I did an overview video of the batteries and put his link in that video 🤘🤘
heating a heatshrink took more than Bardwell building a quad :)
Lolol
Do this to all my batteries, take time with heat gun, excessive heat will nuke your lips. I get 4 or 5 going at same time, and rotate them, heating each about 4 times.
Absolutely brother 🤘🤘🤘thanks for the tip!
That worked better than I thought it would. Sweet advice tip lol
Bam baby

Agreed brother. On all counts. I like the heat shrink myself, but then I fly like an idiot lol

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 I’ve done that as well. Works great

That’s great advice brother. I don’t worry about seeing what they are. I use the same battery style for all my big birds
Thanks. Unfortunately, I have been a battery "jumper" for some time now so I have a crap load of different batteries. Always looking for that perfect lipo... Lololol. Damn son your a lot more organized than me. I charge the shit and fly em lol. Do u have a multi cell tester? Very handy.
Yup, I have several multi cell lipo testers, and even keep one my keychain, so I never leave home without one. Lololol. Your like the quadcopter Boy Scout. Lol. I need to fly with u! Lol
What's with the bardwell bashing?
Lol u must be new to the channel. All in fun.
I know you would love the electrical tape I wrap my batteries in almost as much as you would like the tape on my quads lol... can't wait to watch the rant... I am late ;)
Lolol don’t feel bad. I have a lot of batts wrapped in tape too. No quads tho lol
Nice tip brother, I'm my case I would be wasting heat shrink LMFAO
Yeah u need fucking armor. Send me that bird lol. Killin me
Better idea, cut a small bottle and wrap it around the battery then put the shrink on
+1👍 best attitude award
Lol thanks brother
i use bicycle tire intertube, works great
Lol damn that’s a great idea
Since you like them I recommended the batts.
Thanks brother. Great for the money I think
Agreed
Fuck send me some of that ,you get that so cheap in the states. As always nice vid Jay
Ha. It’s good stuff. Shoulda done it a long time ago
I know this vid is over 2 years old but do you still have any of this shit? Would you sell me like enough for 10 lipos, 1500mah 4s(4ft?) for say $10 dollah? lol
Enough of the bardwell bashing , that gets irritating.
It's funny.
Agreed lol
