Hello Mark, I am the animator of the demon that you see in Maguntsche. I made a lot of animations for 'em, but they never made it into the build you were playing at the time, unfortunately. Also, it appears you were playing a build where our Slender/SCP173-esc mechanic severely borked itself, leading to a lot of unfair deaths. On behalf of both me and the main developer, we apologize for that lil' hiccup. The developer is making progress with a version that builds upon this in an open-world scenario with multiple enemies, so if you'd be down to play it, that'd be awesome. In other news, since you actually plucked this game from the Haunted PS1 Halloween game jam collection, you should try to take a look at some of those. Another project I assisted was The Crawford Family, created by the same guy behind The Silent House, in which I served as the writer for the lore of the Crawfords. In that first game the unsettling music and the way the creature moves and gets really close to the character genuinely makes me so uncomfortable. It’s terrifying to me and I’m not exactly sure why. (Edit) And the last jumpscare genuinely scared the shit out of me 😂
@@filletoffish6971 It's not out of tune, I'm pretty sure the pitch shifts constantly high and low by a few cents, it's extremely unsettling because it's a quarter of a tone, so it's essentially two different tunings and we're not used to that kind of thing.
Hey Mark, there’s a really old game that me and my family used to play when we were quite young, it terrified me of course but it won’t be as bad now! It’s called The Lost Crown: A Ghost Hunting Adventure. It has a unique game style as it uses real images and places and combines that with animation, the game is unlike no other game I’ve ever come across and I would love for you to play it and give it the attention it deserves! Edit: holy moly. I did not expect this to get any attention at all! this is the most likes I’ve ever gotten, thank you all so much!

I think it still holds up pretty well. There are some like cutscenes and dream sequences, but the majority of the game is just you playing it. I played on PC and idk if it's available for any other medium. It's a point and click.
I always wanted mark to play Eternal Darkness : Sanity's Requiem....I played this game for hours upon hours and still love this game to this very day, the sanity mechanic and the magic casting system are very well laid out and I love how they allow you to counter opposing magics when you ally with their counterparts.
i like that last game when you couldn't understand the recordings. it's more reminiscent of nightmares because sometimes the dialogue in our dreams don't make much sense when we're dreaming and that's what contributes to the unsettling quality of those types of dreams

I did some digging because the first game got me curious. I used to live in Pennsylvania. And apparently during a blackout in the 90s, there were a few mysterious murders. So that makes me not want to go back to Pennsylvania anytime soon...
Maguntzch (or however you spell it) seems to only have a radial effect on your health. So its not based on sight as much as it is being in a predetermined circle around his body.
Fun fact: Macungie, PA (it's pronounced mah-KUN-jee) is a real place. The name is an Indian word meaning, "the green place where the bears come to feed". The name of the demon is from a mispronunciation of the name of the town, so is mah-GUN-tchee. (Also, the game is waiting on a patch. I checked the forums, and it's currently unwinnable.)

To explain your fear caused by the game with no gravity, it is the lack of control you have over your positioning and where you are. When you don't know how to position yourself or where you're going, you feel a lack of control which causes you anxiety. When a scenario becomes out of your control and you cant figure out how the different variables and possibilities will turn out, you become afraid and paranoid in order to keep you alert and aware so that you can combat any unexpected events. The game changed what machanics you were normally used to, it was unfamiliar. Your brain didn't know how to counteract and avoid dangerous scenarios because its never really seen an environment like that before.
As a cognitive neuro scientist, I would love to test this hypothesis myself. Since I have access to what we call the "puke chair" (a chair we can move in every direction in combination with a vr headset, that causes people to become sea sick) I can technically do it.

That piano in Maguntsche is just incredible on its own way, the melody is kind of nostalgic, dreadful and beautiful at the same time; the way it sounds and gets distorted mid-game could be like youre getting away from the warmth of your home. Thats where the dreadful part comes in place. I might be looking too much onto it but i really love that song and the way it plays with the setting that the dev wrote.

To explain your fear caused by the game with no gravity, it is the lack of control you have over your positioning and where you are. When you don't know how to position yourself or where you're going, you feel a lack of control which causes you anxiety. When a scenario becomes out of your control and you cant figure out how the different variables and possibilities will turn out, you become afraid and paranoid in order to keep you alert and aware so that you can combat any unexpected events. The game changed what machanics you were normally used to, it was unfamiliar. Your brain didn't know how to counteract and avoid dangerous scenarios because its never really seen an environment like that before.
As a cognitive neuro scientist, I would love to test this hypothesis myself. Since I have access to what we call the "puke chair" (a chair we can move in every direction in combination with a vr headset, that causes people to become sea sick) I can technically do it.
That sounds awesome! I'd love to see feedback on this subject.

That piano in Maguntsche is just incredible on its own way, the melody is kind of nostalgic, dreadful and beautiful at the same time; the way it sounds and gets distorted mid-game could be like youre getting away from the warmth of your home. Thats where the dreadful part comes in place. I might be looking too much onto it but i really love that song and the way it plays with the setting that the dev wrote.
