Biddys are explained in the after show of motherland. The young witches chosen give their life force to General Alder have a life expectancy of 5 years.
The women who give their youth to Alder are called Biddys. About Scylla at the end, even though she just stood there, if you look closely you can see that she looks worried. I really like her because she's a complex character that's a perfect mixture of good and evil and that's something that's developed more later. Even from now you can understand that, even though she joined the Spree (and killed innocent people because of it), she had really good reasons to do so : she wants to avenge her parents as well as taking on their legacy and try to "free" all witches from the mandatory enlisting in the military which she, her parents and the Spree see as slavery. It's pretty much an illustration of the saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" : she wants to do good but the means she and the rest of the Spree use are way too extreme. Edit : Look at my reply for clarification on something I didn't word well
Sorry NOBODY has "good reason" to kill innocent people. Had to correct you there. I support queer content, as I am queer, but that statement is messed up.
@@ApproachTheNerd Sorry I worded it badly (English isn't my first language), I didn't mean to say that she had good reasons to kill innocent people, that's obviously messed up. What I mean is that she had good reasons to adhere to the Spree's ideology. The fact that she partook in killing people to let this idea heard is the problem because their methods are definitely not acceptable. But it's also important to understand that a teenager whose parents just got killed for wanting to be free can very easily be influenced or even radicalized. About the queer content : I like that she's an LGBTQ+ character but it's something about her that really has nothing to do with her actions so I'm not trying to find excuses for her because of the fact that she's LGBTQ+. I like having representation but I also know how to have an objective opinion on someone and I'm not going to like an LGBTQ+ character blindly just because they are LGBTQ+.
Watch out for Scylla's scene with Raelle after the latter gets discharged from the infirmary next episode. Personally for me, it was one of the first signs that Scylla had caught feelings.
I can't help but defend Scylla. Scylla was definitely worried at the end when she saw that Raelle collapsed after trying to save Porter. She was not expecting her gf to 1. be there 2. try to save Porter and 3. collapse after trying help. This episode was juicy when it came to the backstory of a number of characters and the introduction + change of some relationships. 1. Was introduced to Gerit and the boys (male witches) 2. Sex/sexual energy charges up the witches' powers (um. I LOVE THAT!) 3. JUST WANT TO ADD THE FACT THAT THE SECOND KISS FROM SCYLLA, JUST BEFORE THE GAME, WAS UNSCRIPTED AND RAELLE CHIN CUP WAS ALSO UNSCRIPTED 4. Got more insight on Scylla's character (from Porter) 5. A whole UN situation with the leaders of other countries (witches from other countries!!? how cool is thatttt!?) 6. Information about Alder: How she stays youthful (thanks to her 7 Biddys), and she's connected to Fort Salem 7. More information was Libba and Abigail's families (T_____T) 8. THE BURNING TIMES NEVER STOPPED (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 9. More information about Scylla: Her family were dodgers, her parents were killed, and she joined the military "to try to beat them at their own game" to get justice for her parents T^T 10. Scylla's confrontation with Porter: she's always "challenged the system" 11. Tally and Gerit kiss (awwwww) 12. Scylla kills Porter (her first witch kill, this is significant)
When i had seen the episode, in the last scene, when Scylla didn't run to Raelle, i had taken that in a way that Scylla didn't expect to see Raelle trying to heal Porter, so she didn't know how to react.
True. Scylla wa so calculated. She thought she had everything under control and could read Raelle like a back of her hand. But actually Raelle surprised her by her selflessness, and that's why Scylla fell for her. Raelles is not the person she expected her to be, not as unpredictable as she thought she'd be. These things draw her to Raelle, I think.
I knew this would happen. I know you would hate her more in this episode. Lol. Scylla really did it this time. But I like that you chose to wait and hear her backstory. She is a complex character. Next episode is Beltane! You are gonna love it!
Exactly-6-10... angst and pain! Also, I love Scylla; knowing she is Spree never changed that. I guess because of that I am willing to jump to Scylla’s defense while being able to understand what Raelle goes though later... My love for Scylla is I guess why I could tell when she was starting to get feelings and thus would just get herself in a hole..
I love them, I would literally die for them. 😍 The evil part of Scylla is so interesting because on one point she has to decide between her love for Raelle and the spree. But in the end it doesn‘t matter, I will ship them either way XD
Scylla actually told the truth here. This is one of the episode where we actually get a glimpse of Scylla's backstory. The Bellwether unit got a backstory or introduction in the first episode while Anacostia sort of got that intro in the second episode, when she was revealed that she was also an orphan. This was Scylla's.
I love Raylla ... I don't agree with everything Scylla did. But in fact she Loves Raelle! And this love that they both feel for each other, can help Scyl to forget the hatred and thirst for revenge ... And show her a path of light (her Redemption). Just enough now, Raelle forgives her (which will be complicated haha) and Realize that not everything Scylla said was a lie. Waiting for season 2 to warm up more 😅
It is so funny to watch the episode and imagine how Adam would react to Scylla kissing Porter, not runninng to Raelle and about Tally and Gerit and than he reacts that way and you feel so understood. You're so great 😂
Since it was really visible for the first time here, just a little info about the scar on Raelle's face. I thought it was for the character but it is actually real. A few years back she was filming a movie and there was an accident on set you can read articles about it. She actually sued the production I think. But anyway I think it actually really fits her character and maybe that's why I didn't think it was real before I found out. I suppose if you've been watching the aftershow you've already noticed but just thought I'd share!
I think that scylla was in shock a little bit when she saw raelle, and maybe knew because she is a necro witch that when raelle tries to heal porter some of his memories will be transferred to her so scylla is worried about raelle seeing her and porter.
