My husband and i had the pleasure of meeting Jim White this summer in Atlanta. When he was done with his performance, we snuck outside and there he was...all alone loading up his car. We mentioned to him how much we loved singing "turquoise house" with our daughter when she was young - and reminiscing this memory to him, made us very emotional in a nostalgic way. He was the most kind and easy going fellow. He spoke with us for a good 30 minutes. We took photos and laughed (and cried). He is an all around beautiful human being. We finished our talk with big hugs and so much appreciation for each other. We will forever love Jim White.
Jim White has MORE depth and conviction in his voice than ANY so-called singer on the charts today...by far! (This also goes for his EXEMPLARY songwriting as well...)
I went to concert about 12 years ago and someone came up and handed me a bag of merch and samples on the way out to the parking lot. There was a Jim White sample and I've loved his music ever since. Seems like a great guy and full of talent and poetry/love.
Had heard of this guy before, but until a couple of weeks back, had never heard any of his music. He's extremely talented and his music is wonderful. I have searched for chords to his songs, but no luck so far.
It's sweet to see Jim White so happy and genial... I've been a fan since my son was a baby, and once got to talk to him outside the venue for a good half hour... Our kids were born a week apart, and it's been nice to watch a cynical, frustrated, disconnected, brilliant person find the world through his child - exactly the same road that I've walked over these past 11 years. :)
I prefer the album version of jailbird, honestly i think it's 1 of the best songs i've ever heard lyrically very easily. I like the bassline that kicks in with the background vocal in the chorus really gives it some oomph to the merit of the track

That's a mighty fine remembrance. God is good! :)

I found Jim while watching the documentary "Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus". I never knew it would move me as much as it did.
Me too! Still Waters caught me unlike any song I've ever heard.

This song stabs me in the heart. Love.
Saw him live in Birmingham (UK) recently - a very talented and very decent man.

Second thing, the bassline on Diamonds to Coal is creme de la creme.
The notion of being trapped by and escaping ones own mind is so niche and relatable. Perfect day to chase tornadoes is another song you may enjoy.
National Treasure.
I've got a truckhat from him from one of his conserts :)
