There’s a great line in the second volume where Adam says “we can come tonight” and the alternate responds with “how about three nights” showing it hasn’t mastered human speech and heard tonight as two nights.
Okay so personally While I think that's a very neat touch if intentional I've never read the situation that way. Because, like, think about it. You call somebody to make sure your cat's spirit is at rest. They offer to come "tonight." The logical conclusion, therefore, is that they would come over, but just for that night. Nothing about the future from there. Thus, it only makes sense to clarify just how long a stay you wish your benefactors to take - in this "woman's" case, three nights. Again, the "tonight/two nights" interpretation is very valid, and neat if true, but I personally see it as realistic as the rest of the conversation. (Apologies for this mostly irrelevant post under your comment, have a nice day)
It could also be a reference to how Jesus came back to life after 3 nights, like they would go there and die, and “come back to life” after 3 days, coming back to life being the alternate taking their form
i did that to my cousin, the only difference is that he just didn't know about the series, and we slept in the same house for a party one day, he got so scared that I went to get some water in the dark that he yelled at my grandpa and accused me of trying to scare him lol, these series are amazing.
@@NebulaBubbles me and my brother had to share tv and phones, so he would always play scary stuff like micheal jacksons thriller and happy tree friends to get me to go away 😭
The “who have I been praying to” line is so chilling that, even though you already know everything that mark knows now, it still feels like a huge, terrible revelation and just punches you in the gut
The true or perhaps final, inevitable, terror... is that the moment you start experiencing these things, there is no escape. And even those you ask for help, are the very same ones trying to torment you. The false shepard triumphed a long, long time ago... Who have I been praying to? There is no God. **No one will come for you.** GOD, the oof in that journal, and especially that line.
Yea it's like iamgine, you have internet friend with with you share everything, he's your best friend, them murderer comes into your house kill your family, you sit scared in your room police cannot arrive so when this monster stands in front of your door convincing you to come out, in act of desperation you call your firend and them... you hear ring tone outside your door.
I have a theory: There was a VERY large emphasis on how religious Mark was (ex: church photos, Bible in his room, his journal) before he ended himself, and there is a very large focus on mark writing “who have I been praying to this entire time” and how it was his breaking point. My theory is that the “forbidden knowledge” is the truth about the false shepherd and who is really in control, and that religious people, upon hearing this, kill themselves. Meanwhile, nonreligious people, who make up 3% of the population in this timeline, have no guilt to bear since they never praised the false shepherd and therefore are more prone to recover.
ok this is very good, if Mandella is very primarily religious i suppose the statistic makes sense to maybe 90% of the people, but im not religious and i dont need to know some scary stuff to end myself at the thought of these things outside my room... I guess tough non religious people could make up 3%
It would match up pretty nicely with how the Internet would've never taken a true form and communities of atheists would've never sprung up online due to the screen ban, so a large amount of the population would be religious and never know alternatives
Maybe the county could be so religious because the false shepherd altered the ideals of Christianity to appeal more to sin, thusly making it significantly easier to be religious because of lack of things like restraint or encouragement of temptation.
@@cowlec8761 I was thinking perhaps Christianity was changed to where the punishments for not following the false shepherd were far more harsh, since it’s in character for Satan to rule through fear if he was given that kind of power. Maybe the price for straying from the false shepherds teaching was far more permanent and asking for forgiveness couldn’t save you. It would certainly explain the extremely high percentage of religious people.
Another thing I noticed at the beginning of Adam and Jonah's episode is that when they're in the phone call with this "girl", she asks when their next opening is, and when they say 'tonight' the girl responds with "how about three nights?". This shows that alternates do not understand human speech perfectly, so it understood 'two nights' instead. To me, when Alex shows a phonecall, there's always a hint to show you that the person on the other side of the phone isn't human. Why did Cesar not turn on the cameras BEFORE 'leaving' with his mom? Because it's a trap. All of these victims fell for the alters' impersonations.
Man, imagine for example being autistic and getting persecuted by the general public just because you don't perceive things the same as other people and so are believed to be an alter It's like witch hunts all over again
I think mark writing “my eyes are wide open” is him realizing what is going on and realizing that he’s been praying to and asking help from the devil. Terrifying stuff
@@risenfromthebog8254 BRO my parents asked me that if God told me to kill my brothers would do it, I just said “no.” they then proceeded to tell me why I should. wtf

You do realize he is the one in the first part who accused this of being sacrilegious right? he's the one who brought it up first so ppl were just calling him out on his back and fourth flip flopping its not something serious and duh everyone knows its just a fun story its not meant to be taken seriously dude come on get your head out of your ass.
In the Bible, Jonah originally refuses God’s order to help spread his word to the town, but after spending time in the whale, he repents for his disobedience and is let go. Jonah could show back up in the series, but as something corrupted
Or maybe be brought back still alive given the chance to help adam like he shouldve. Adam could be important enough that he could leverage jonah's life
I had a nightmare where you were live-streaming and someone in the chat said they were gonna ‘Mandela catalog your face’ and you turned to the camera and your face turned into the false shepherd… it’s literally one of the scariest nightmares I’ve ever had so thank you for that:)
What’s interesting is Jude refers to Lynn as his wife, despite being divorced. I think that Jude was the alternate, working with incomplete information to lure thatcher to the house.
the subtle mistakes that the alternates make when trying to mimic humans are so cool. like the girl who called about her cat asking if the boys could stay three nights after adam asks if tonight will work. almost like it thought that adam said two nights.
the scariest part is that normal people can make those mistakes too meaning it'd fly under your radar during the convo unless you're specifically looking for slip ups like that. it only adding up after the fact, when it'd be too late for the person speaking with an alternate, is a cherry on top
@@Gxylordthat is true, it can also be very common if someone's scared or stressed. So you could never know for sure if who you are talking to is actually a person or an alternate.
Late to this upload, but funny story, I know the guys who's house has the stairs with the doorway behind it. He's a good friend of mine, he took the photo in his family home a few years ago and uploaded it to a liminal spaces subreddit since he was super into that stuff at the time. Since then the photo got added to a liminal spaces compilation on youtube, and Alex found it from there and put it in the Mandela Catalogue. The friend had no idea his house was in the series since no one told him about it or let him know they were using the photo, so while he was watching the Mandela Catalogue he was in his living room by those damn stairs and saw his own fucking house. In an analog horror series on youtube where intruders break into your home and replace you. Idk about you but I would SHIT.
The fact that Alex is only 18 YEARS OLD and can come up with a more horrifying and compelling story than many modern horror writers/directors is just… such talent, my goodness.
Sadly, big movie producers won’t even look at his work. His only hope is an indie studio, or something along the lines of Blumhouse. They love the found footage/guerilla style films.
@@robertrizer4708 fr he could make an amazing indie horror game with this. Like as an investigator trying to save his town from the coming Alternates... And having to avoid them coming for him
@@TowerArcanaCrow While that sounds somewhat interesting, I think the issue with that is that it removes ambiguity from the alternates if you're directly fighting them. It works in that one game we got only because it's one short game.
I interpreted the multiple voices outside of Mark’s room as just one alternate, slowly mastering the ability to mimic humans so much that it is eventually able to mimic multiple voices at once in a natural way. The voice starts out as one weird-sounding one, then it learns how to use two voices, though still weird-sounding, before finally mastering the ability to use multiple voices in such a way that it sounds like a perfectly normal room full of people.
Same here, I don't think there was multiple alternates outside mark's door. It would be weird to call in like half the demons in existence just to torment him a little more. It's much scarier and logical to assume it was just the one alternate knowing how to impersonate an entire crowd of people
That seems highly dubious as the alternate didn't go anywhere or interact with anyone that would have allowed them to train their voice like that. It's a hive mind.
Here's an Easter egg/clue for ya'll. Turns out that the "woman's" voice the alternate uses to call Adam and Jonah is Ceasar's mom's voice. I noticed they sounded similar and checked to see that they are voiced by the same actress: Faith Cunningham. This would likely mean that this is indeed the Ceasar Alternate.
Another thing I noticed is the naming convention for the victims so far. Adam and Jonah are pretty obvious, but Mark and Ceasar are similar. Adam - Adam accepting the apple Jonah - turning his back on his duty out of fear Mark - is the Alternate's "mark" or target. Ceasar - The conquerer, much like Julius. Food for thought.
@@gabrielervin7030 The Amish are a Christian community, and in the Mandela Catalogue universe the false shepherd greatly influenced the development of Christianity. So yes, they absolutely would.
Something that Wendigoon forgot to mention: The fact that Adam says "we could do tonight if you want." and the lady says "how about 3 nights?" it's another hint that she is an alternate and thought he said "two nights"
@@inigochicano fair enough but I mean... Tonight=two nights 3 nights instead of 2 After all the longer they stay the more likely the alternates will get them
The number 333 is actually an Angel number referring to your guardian angel making contact with you. With the intention of correcting your path or guiding important life choices. Really makes volume 2 far spookier
3 is also considered in general a "holy" number - the Holy Trinity, for example. 333 is also one-half of 666, which is considered an evil or cursed number for a long time
Theory: in the 70s and 80s the intruders experimented with taking children, but found their minds didn't quite suit their purposes. These kids, now adults, are truly sleeper agents, in that they don't remember anymore that they *are* alternates.
Man, I cant believe what is happening to this platform. Such a shame that these things keep happening. Anyway, thanks for sharing it I love your narration
Theta Network. Remember….it’s not just dog coins. It’s ripping the power away from monolithic Tech Giants. You can’t take down a network if it’s just an algorithm and decentralized.
Honestly, having 3% that can overcome it and fight back makes a lot of sense for a narrative. Because as a writer, you'd want to have an end. Either it will end terribly and everyone is dead. Or it will end with a fight back. It also gives a nice conflict. This horror looks like there is an arc behind it and he's building a pretty strong story. So having a small percentage that could "fight back" could add to this story. Or it could be a bright spot that gets ultimately crushed once the conclusion comes in and that's even more terrifying.
I love that part you mentioned, "the bright spot that gets ultimately crushed", because it's just a perfect thing to create tension. Will the minority rise or will they suffer and die trying?
Yes. If it was totally undefeatable and infallible, there'd be no tension and very little horror. Tbh I think he still leans a little too hard in that direction.
Tension can be a pretty difficult thing to have when one creature is long lived and the other isn't, the alternates have already won because they aren't on a time limit like humans are they have comparatively infinite time to torture just you, nobody else just you. Imagine being Noah trapped on a boat with this being that was placed here by your god. There isn't a win scenario because the rules have been written by GabRiel
I truly think there was only one alternate outside Mark’s door. The alternate is using the voices of the masses to, essentially, drive Mark insane. It wants him to open the door, so it’s making it seem, through the hundreds of voices, that the situation is completely hopeless (there are hundreds of them) and Mark might as well open the door and succumb to the inevitable
There was really only one Alternate that tormented Mark, and that was Cesar's Alternate. Cesar's fingerprints were found on Mark's doorknob during Thatcher's investigation. It's been established that Alternates can use different voices with the "voices outside my room" recording, which means that while it can portray as Cesar during their phone call, it can portray another voice when it was luring Mark to open the door with glitching "I have a gift for you" during Mark's recording of his door. Actually fucking terrifying and pretty good details from Alex
Imagine you're an ancient demon who managed to overtake religion by twisting and bending mortals' minds, only to have your entire masterplan thwarted by a kid you undimensioned several years ago because he "forgot" he was supposed to be affected by psychological warfare tactics.. oh well you win some you lose some.

If I was said Ancient Demon I would eat pizza with pineapples on it while dipping it in ranch dipping while drinking Pineapple Baja blast to mess with him and chew really loudly. That alone will drive someone insane.
Maybe a stretch, but worth noting that Davis' name is one letter away from being "David" In reference to the Biblical David, who faced down the towering Goliath, and against all odds, defeated the giant Davis faced down a towering Alternate, and while he didn't kill it, he didn't die from the otherwise fatal encounter, likely due to his lack of fear. Which is to say, against all odds, he "defeated" the giant
""who faced down the towering Goliath"" Nah, if you look at it, David had way more Firepower from the start against Goliath. He had a Sling. Those are fucking deadly. Its like you vs Andre the Giant. But the twist is, you have a Gun. Changes the Power of Balance a bit.
but later Davis talks about how "his place in the world" has been taken over. I believe that while Davis survived the alternate encounter, there is now also an alternate of Davis walking around, taking his place. I believe this is evidence that someone can have their place taken by an alternate without resulting in one's death, and that it just simply requires a confirmation of fear, and shooting off a gun will most certainly say "I feel threatened enough to use self-defense."
Isn't it possible that Adam is an alternate who's simply forgotten he's an alternate? As in, the original Adam was stolen from his mother, and the Adam we know was replaced as a baby. From then on, he's been living Adam's life, wholly unaware he's not the original. Note: This is a repost of my comment on the now unlisted version of this video. Wendigoon seemed to like it, so I'm reposting it.
Tbh that’s a really interesting idea, like, a sort of demonic changeling. And tbh, it makes sense because while obviously the alternates are supposed to be demons, I have noticed they also seem similar to dark, historical interpretations of the fair folk in that they seem maliciously mischievous and are drawn to children.
To me, the most terrifying part of the series was when Thatcher was looking for his partner and the Alternate began talking to him in his own voice. Idk, just the thought of being in the dark and hearing something perfectly mimic your voice just makes my blood run cold
Its the same feeling I got when in Volume 2 the alternate used Jonah's voice to yell "OH MY GOD BEHIND YOU". The first time was alarming because it was loud and startling, but the second time was chilling because it was the exact same pronunciation and inflection. If it had actually been Jonah, the second loop wouldn't have been such a perfect duplicate, but that it was set off the "I'm in danger" parts of my brain.
What impressed me so much with this latest episode is just how horrifying the alternate was after Finally. FINALLY moving in real time. We've had, up until this point, creepy pictures pasted onto a creepy backdrop, but we've not had any actual alternates moving about. This latest episode not only finally had it, but absolutely *nailed* it. When I saw that thing move, I was like "Holy crap, he did it."
Think you might get a kick out of this then; I actually saw it before 333 bc I had been really busy when 333 first dropped and only got the chance to watch it this past week when this short reminded me 'oh yeah, were'nt you really hyped for this thing before work got shortstaffed and fried your brain?' th-cam.com/users/shortsCLPiERIk5aI
The final scene of vol 333 is genuinely one of the most viscerally horrifying things I have ever seen. The idea of a creature or spirt puppeteering a corpse and simply trying to mimic a human, including trying to mimic a voice by just moving the vocal chords with no understanding of what the sounds they are making mean, just makes my skin **crawl**. It's the scariest horror trope to me and all of the popular analog horror series' seem to use it
The new series of MM definitely seems to be in an alternative universe from the "deanverse", since it involves a Reagan victory and a bunch of things seemingly unrelated to the Horned Serpent. It definitely feels like Alex is leaning into a bunch of ideas that didn't make the cut for the original MM storyline, and it is doing brilliantly. I do hope we get some content to tie it together though
I took a look into it, and found out that three recurrent numbers are what's known as "angel numbers". Because of the false shepherd taking the form of the angel Gabriel, I looked up 333's meaning; turns out it means "making correct choices". I think this draws parallel to the "Uh oh! Bad decision, Mark!" and "Uh oh! Bad decision, Thatcher!" statements. Maybe there is a correct decision when dealing with alternates, but so far nobody has discovered it? I'm not sure, I just know there is some kind of relation between the numbers representing good decisions, and the alternates directly telling victim that they made bad decisions.
Noticed this too, could just be the underlying message of all the religion in this universe being a malicious lie, and something that would be considered lucky to us is something very unlucky for them
this reminds me of a post somewhere that i think was related to the mandela catalogue that said something along the lines of "they work on fear, so in order to beat one you should just beat it up with zero fear"
if people who resist M.A.D. also give people the ability to slay an alternate, then it would also explain why the alternates with bodies dont outright kill people violently. if people saw that alternates were murderous, they absolutely would begin to shake their fear of them, and at that point the alternates would very quickly be defeated. they have to rely on people ending themselves
Small theory: The girl who calls for Adam and Jonah to help her cat move on to the afterlife is the same alternate that replaced Cesar Torres' mother. The voice actress' sound very similar. This could just be coincidence by using a limited vocal cast or, in line with my theory, the alternate that replaced Cesar Torres' mother who has remained dormant at their address.
idk if you noticed as well but the cat woman doesn't talk like a normal person? shes told that tonight would be fine but then goes on to ask "the next three nights?" but the idea its cesar's mother's alternate is horrific tyvm
Shame about the policy issues with the original, having watched it I thought Wendigoon treated the material sensitively and not at all provocatively, but I guess TH-cam disagreed. Hope this version stays up!
It’s absurd how sensitive TH-cam has gotten . Do they expect kids to just not learn about the reality of life until it’s too late? Most kids grow up on TH-cam now and it’s concerning the amount of real life scenarios they don’t allow creators to talk about
@@gryffindor8896 Ugh. Make a single casual reference to suicide as a matter of fact and it gets taken down; put up wild conspiracy misinformation up and get put at the top of the TH-cam algorithm. :(
My interpretation of the crowd of voices outside Mark's door, was that they were trying to replicate a party, or a gathering, to try and get Mark outside of his room to see what the commotion is. Make it seem like the Alternate left and now everything is back to normal to give him a false sense of a security to open the door.
@@Seraphyl333 Something similar happened a while ago when I was a lot younger. I had a dream I was going to watch Wild Kratts (goated series) and when the faces of Martin and Chris appeared on the screen they were just these slightly off distorted versions of themselves and it scared the crap out of me. I was 6.
Maybe the only reason the kids who are kidnapped sometimes are immune is because a human is bound to one alternate, hence the almost nervousness from Marks attacker (saying how they are nervous about time) and hence the immunity of MAD
Thatcher got that protagonist energy. Also, maybe the Hoodie Intruder is a rogue Alternate. One that doesn't really care to kill targets and just enjoys standing around in the shadows and being creepy because he finds it fun.
or its the real shepherd. at the end of the original video you see the false one speaking in red and another speaking in white about wandering the earth or something
The biggest take away is that the only way for Alternates to get into our world is people wanting them to. MAD makes you seek it out and imaginary friend is wanting a friend. It’s all about want. The want of friends or the want to be free of the pain allows them to enter. Also I am really hyped for more of the Intruder. If he still holds up to the promise of him being the worst thing yet I am curious. Afterall what is worse than a false prophet or twisting children?
IDK i think doppelgangers and alternates are different stuff, it's been decades since the first doppelganger we know off got into the world. my theory is that the alternates are actually the intruder and the doppelgangers are just a byproduct of them.
One thing to note about Vol. 333: the fandom for Mandela Catalogue says that the position that the “Imaginary Friend” Alternate floats towards Lieutenant Davis is the same position that Jesus Christ’s body was when he was crucified
And it actually recontextualizes whatever reason god or "the one currently in control" had to start the flood in the first place. Maybe the flood was the only way god found of getting rid of alternates (if they already existed at that point, besides the false shepard)
One of my christmas presents from my dad every year is that he continuously pays for a TH-cam Premium Family Plan for myself, my sis, and himself. 47:22 I can’t believe nobody has pointed out the clear reference to the walten files on the soccer poster. It says “Mandela Meerkats vs BRIGHTON BUNNIES” Brighton being the town where the walten files take place and bunnies being… well…. A reference to bon
@@Clairevoyant101 It's definitely just a reference. At the same time, during one video of the walten files, it's stated the deceased victims "speak through analogue", similar to alternates. There are multiple other similar story beats between both horror projects. I think if they suddenly pivoted into a Collaboration project, it'd be able to go off flawlessly.
the way that alternates cross over reminds me of the common fairy trope that peoples (usually childrens) belief in fairies is what keeps the fairies alive/gives them their magic. belief in the alternates allows them to exist in our world. makes sense that they take advantage of children and religion to trick people into believing in them.
I had the same thought about fairy lore and about changelings as well because it's a well known lore in many Celtic and Irish tales, and then started thinking about the demons targeting certain demographics after it was stated not to follow religion. I'd be hella pissed at myself if was religious and was praising a god or goddess or whatever and kept demons around unintentionally when I was trying to save myself instead and encouraging my children to do the same. In real life I'm not religious but I'm spiritual and even the thought of having my eyes closed in bed and being afraid to open them if some creature is staring inches away into my face, makes me feel like id be praying to something to get it to go away and wind up getting it even closer scares me to death
I commented this on the old upload, but I might as well put it here too so it's still visible: I think the reason Mark's death is so special is because it was the catalyst for the alternate invasion becoming as big as it was. Lt Davis was one of the investigators in the Heathcliff case when he was attacked and replaced by an alternate, so it's my belief that the new Lt Davis doppelganger used it's position within the Mandela police department to gather up and leak the details of Mark's death to the public. And so, practically overnight, knowledge of the existence of some type of creature that can harm you or unattended children through television sets goes from being limited to a few dozen people in Mandela county to being at least somewhat known by hundreds of thousands of people, planting that seed of knowledge and fear in all of their heads at once, and thus allowing the alternates more targets to latch onto than they've ever had before.
I don't care if it is a reupload, I'm going to watch it all over again because it's so damn entertaining to listen to Isaiah talk, not to mention he makes actually good content with high effort put into it. Congratulations for your work, it really deserves all attention in the world. 👊
A thought just occured to me, with the conversation between Adam and the Intruder when it asks Adam what he did, and Adam answers "I did the right thing". I think what Adam means is him getting angry at Jonah and making him leave. I think Adam (at least subconsciously) understood what was going to happen. And didnt want Jonah to get attacked (which may or may not have been successful, as we dont directly see him) and might've actually worked. In my opinion, I feel the sound Jonah makes isnt him getting killed, I think that's him being upset at leaving Adam being and he's trying not to cry or succumb to fear (and is probably failing) and just grunting/screaming in frustration. Trying to turn his fear into anger at himself or at Adam. I feel like this only really hinges on if Jonah was attacked lethally right then at the car, and if he wasnt, then why is he labelled as Victim 4? Maybe he's labeled a victim because he now suffers from MAD, and not because he's missing or killed.
Assuming that Adam survived the events of Vol. 2, a 'victim' doesn't necessarily have to mean death and/or replacement by an Alternate. I think that it's probably someone _presumed_ dead by the MCPD, as my interpretation was that the 'victim' labels were from MCPD documents. They probably don't have all the knowledge that we have, though (or at least they haven't pieced it all together), and may have just assumed that Adam and Jonah succumbed to M.A.D. and left it at that. Honestly, I don't know what happened to Jonah, but I just feel like we can't assume that he's dead jbecause he's labeled as a 'victim'.

The Mandela Catalogues as a whole really hit home for me. My mom told me that when I was younger, she saw a dark figure standing at the edge of my crib on my baby monitor. And that she heard someone talking through the baby monitor as well. This would have been around 2003-2006 roughly. She never talked to anyone about it until she discussed it with me when I was much older. I had multiple instances that I remember VIVIDLY from when I was little of seeing a figure watching me like the dark alternates in the corner of the room. And different parts of my room morphing and hearing voices talking. I had horrible night terrors and sleep paralysis (and still do at age 19), which is also interesting. I don't know, I really love this series and find it very unsettling that it so closely parallels things I've been told and remember about my early childhood.
My initial interpretation of the many voices outside the room in the 3rd recording was that the alternate outside the door was using its ability to mimic a crowd of people to lure Mark out and make him think that the coast was clear.
Yeah, thought something like that too. Like Making him believe that there was no more alternates, just a bunch of people, chatting and having some reunion like a party or something
and i find that so creepy. like although it MAY have led mark to believe he was safe, there is also something slightly off about it. like i for sure wouldn’t fall for it. i don’t know the alternates are pretty smart, but they do make small mistakes when trying to copy humans. i find it really interesting.
Your first mandela catalogue drove me I into a panic attack and I couldn’t sleep for days. I’m feel like not learning from my mistakes out of morbid curiosity
Don't worry, this is all just some dude photos hopping faces. I was also very scared but eventually learned it was all bs. I hope you find that as well. Nothing can hurt you

It lowkey reminds me of "This house has people in it" but even better. I also greatly enjoy watching you fanboy/get emotional about the shoutout in Alex's video. I can't wait to see where this goes.
Hey, me too. It took me many, many years to get over the negative feelings I had after cutting ties… but the lore, oh the lore… There is so much interesting material in the book itself, and putting it into historical context just adds to that. Turns out that we „defectors“ are allowed to be just as interested in religious lore as everyone else. That was my turning point a few years back. It‘s so much easier being neutral… ^^
@@ArDeeMee I really appreciate you saying we are allowed to be just as interested, genuinely. My mother was a practicing witch but she always encouraged my older half-sister and I to follow our own path. She owned everything from the Bible to books on Wicca/Paganism to the Quran. I've always LOVED religious lore and symbolism. The negative feelings are, at times, still there but we just have to take it a day at a time. I wish you all the best in your journey through life!
So my wild theory I haven’t seen someone mention yet is that hoodie guy is the actual Shepherd or an angel that was replaced by the False Shepherd. If I remember right, in the edited cartoon of the annunciation (don’t remember the video name) after the text stating that “I have deceived everyone” there’s text in a different font talking about being cursed to wander the Earth. So far in series hoodie guy hasn’t acted at all like the other alternates. He doesn’t speak or try to communicate with humans, he’s not acting very threatening, just occasionally pops up to watch over people or wander around their house. His appearances have also been almost secretive, as if he doesn’t want to be caught. That’s my guess anyway. I know he looks creepy and intimidating but I don’t get as bad of vibes from him as the others. He doesn’t do anything to the characters and he looks almost haggard and tired.
@Damien Wonder It's not really "all". Most angels in the Bible either appear as humans or their shape isn't really specified. Also, they typically say "don't be afraid" because they appear in people's houses or temples unexpectedly.
@@tatertot3248 huh I didn’t think of the Cain connection, though I think that may just be how I phrased it as there isn’t actually any mention of curses in the original videos. I’d also add that considering the context of the video it would be a weird for the second set of text to be Cain, as he’s not at all connected to the annunciation. As for the communication bit, I was assuming that they didn’t have the ability to reach out and communicate, though even if they were able to it probably wouldn’t make much of a difference. It would be one person trying to convince everyone that their entire religion is a lie while standing in a corner looking like…well that. And if they did have success it would probably put them in danger of being found by demons as they’d likely want to eliminate the source of people realizing the truth. Honestly though, there’s probably better theories and explanations out there, this was just what my brain came up with and I thought it was fun :)
Hey Wendigoon! Have you ever heard about the murders at Corpsewood Manor? It's a really unique and fascinating case that doesn't get talked about much. It has a lot of crazy backstory details and I think it would make a perfect topic for a deep dive style video. I would love to hear your telling of events and I know everyone else would too. I remember reading an old short story and it related to the statement that the devil can't enter your home unless you let him. This is definitely why the alternates aren't viciously trying to get into Mark's room, because they can't.
Growing up with a Christian background, and going to a Christian school, I really love the religious aspect of the Mandela catalogue. It's inspired me to start working on my own religion based analog horror series based on Revelations and the end times.

Mark when he was trapped in the room, he was actually in there for 1 day. And in his logs he noted that “it has been days” but it was actually 1 single day. It’s crazy to see how the alternate targeting Mark messed with his perception of time. Cool little detail i’ve noticed
When I heard the "legions of hell" voices from the Voices Outside My Door segment, i just sort of picture looking through a peephole to see an Alternate standing inches from the door, staring intently with its mouth wide open as the sound of a crowded room pours from its gaping mouth like a speaker, as if its mimicking every voice it has all at once.
Honestly I thought of the same thing. Because alternates don't follow the laws of physics so why wouldn't it be able to speak with multiple voices at once! IMO that just makes it worse, since now there's this paranoia that you'd get because you can't tell weather it's an alternate just using many voices, or an actual crowd of alternates. Both are scary.

Theory: The Hoodie Guy is the husk of the REAL Savior (The one who was replaced by Satan in Season 1), it would explain him being mysteriously involved a lot with Adam, not seeming to directly influence the intruders or act like them, and has a keen interest in staying fairly hidden. My guess is Savior is trying to help Adam start up the revolution against False Savior, while staying fairly hidden to not catch attention too quickly
i think this has been disproven for one, the real jesus is trapped in the desert, no mentions of anything beyond that for two, the intruder's name is six for three, we've had alex confirm that six and the man in the tv are the same people and for the final nail on the cross, alex has confirmed that six/the intruder will have a far more sinister role later on in the story
my thought exactly. in the previous episode, when Hooded Figure's identity was called into question, my first thought was "Oh, it's Jesus." he's been created mortal via divine coup, yet still has a metaphysical form corrupted by his fall, thus his Alternate-like appearance. doomed to wander the Earth, why would this husk of The True Savior (i'm considering to be Jesus) mean harm to mortals? he just... lurks there.
I want to agree as it seems logical at first glance but no matter how I look at it he does not seem good. The guy seems very sociopathic as can be seen in the one video where he toys around with the mother's corpse. I could be looking at it wrong but so many aspects of him suggest he is an antagonist in some way rather than a savior. I have a feeling he is not an alternate however as the author stated something along the lines of "that's something particularly horrifying" when talking about the hooded man (note part one.) This suggests that he is separate yet equally as bad or worse than the alternants.
Personally the most terrifying part of the Mandela Catalogue is the False Shepherd. Like, the idea that billions of people's beliefs were all fabricated and staged by some evil entity is an absolute terror.
As someone nonreligious, tbh, some religions already feel like this to me... Like, some ultra powerful being just decided all the rules for us from the start, and any deviation from its desires means not death but an eternity of torture? That's scary shit.
@@hmnhntrIn Christianity, Hell is not some prison where we go if we do things God does not want us to do. What happens is, when we die, we feel God's love. However, there are those who have turned their existences into one thing (murderers, criminals, those who make one thing matter above all (like a career or person) while ignoring themselves, etc.). They are distraught by the loss of that thing, or are destroyed internally due to their action. Because of that, God's love is like fire to them, bruning them. If they do not choose God, he sends them to Hell, because in Heaven, God's love is everywhere. In hell, it is not present, thus they would suffer more in Heaven, than Hell. Because after death, there are those who say to God "thy will be done" and to to whom God says "thy will be done". Their wish is impossible to achieve, as it is impossible for them to be their own God. Those in Hell never want to go to Heaven, even when they can repent with ease, in all biblical stories where such people are seen. Demons also do not run Hell, they also suffer there, that is a common misconception. God sends people to Hell because they would only suffer more in Heaven.
Not going to lie, I usually tap off a video when the content is finished and the Creator is just doing their outro bit, but there is something about Wendigoon that I love, and it makes me want to stay and listen to all of his ramblings. He's just so hopeful, and it makes me feel good to listen to his genuine appreciation for everyone.
If an alternate can be brought in our reality by a child imagining an imaginary friend, that could mean someone probably got jumped by whatever pop culture character was popular back then
I really want a Mandela video where Wendigoon's face gets slightly fucked up ever so slowly and slightly and you can only notice by the 1hr mark, so you can't tell whether or not it is an actual thing in the video or you're just too enthralled
Here’s a theory: The “Imaginary Friend” is the true form of an alternate, when it’s not disguised as something else or when it’s not possessing someone, when it’s not doing that it becomes some disgusting goblin looking monster
@@Immort4l5 I think the true form is the lanky shadows with eyes. I think the one you're talking about is just so heavily distorted that it looks completely different,
@@efox4028 I still believe my first theory but here’s another possibility, it looks like that because it’s trying to act like multiple people at the same time
54:49 If you look really carefully in the beginning, you can see the intruder's face on the TV screen before it quickly cuts away to static. Not sure why they're hiding like that, but it is very interesting.
What find more creepy is the imaginary friend. When he was messing with Davis with his light moving onto his face, THE FLIPPING DEMON WAS PLAYING WITH ITS OWN FACE!!!!
25:50 the way this is phrased raises an interesting question, at least to me. When they say "the patient must actively seek it out" do they mean: A.) In order for MAD to truly take a hold of someone, they must seek out the information and as long as they refrain from doing so, they will remain unaffected B.) In order to AVOID the effects of MAD, one must actively chase after the information, and as long as they do so, they will remain unaffected Cause these both drastically change the game here. If A is true, then the information itself is the danger and as long as you don't pursue it, you should be fine. If B is true, however, then the danger isn't in the knowledge itself but rather in the victim's reluctance to accept it. If B is true, that could also explain why Adam isn't succumbing to MAD; he's actively seeking out the information and refusing to let the fear of it overcome him. It would also explain why only 3% of people diagnosed get over it, because who really would actively chase after knowledge they don't want to know? It would *also* explain why the Alternates seem to be trying to stop him, because they know what he's doing is keeping him out of their grasp.
honestly i think it's B, bc as it's mentioned, MAD happens bc of being told *UNWANTED* information, so, if that, usually unwanted information, instead becomes *WANTED* information by YOU, you should be able to avoid and survive MAD.
@@DeepResonanceX That's what I'm thinking, too. I think Adam is special because he's not afraid of the knowledge, and the Alternates are desperately trying to make him afraid.
I appreciate your take on what is sacrilegious. A lot of people get hung up on "using the Lord's name in vain" and thus believe that any mention of God's name is sacrilegious. But you're right, when a story isn't pro demon, and it isn't anti God, then it's not sacrilegious. The story isn't even saying God isn't real. The story explores, what if Satan undermined God's plan for Christ to redeem humanity. If anything, this is a very Christian story. I guess people are offended that God's plan gets derailed in the story. Calm down, it's a story that explores "what if almighty God allowed this?". Nowhere does it say God is impotent or conquered by Satan. The Bible is filled with stories where God's plan appears delayed or derailed and turns out we just didn't know what His plan was.
Very true, I'm a big proponent of the idea of "taking the Lord's name in vain" to mean committing atrocities in the name of God as opposed to blurting out a simple "omg" when shocked at something. Take a look at how Muslims address nearly any surprise that they encounter, for instance. Almost every exclamation of surprise/being thankful for something they have or hoping for something invokes Allah.
I appreciate that you don't put on creepy music and vibes. I don't think I could immerse myself in this world if that was the case, and I def can't watch the originals.
Theory: I think the woman that contacted Adam and Jonah was most likely Mark’s sister. Who we saw in the photo standing next to mark. For whatever reason she is feeding the alternates in the house
I'm pretty sure that the woman that called Adam and Jonah was an alternate herself. Using the voice of either Ceasar's mother or someone else that the alternate copied/killed. Especially when Adam says: "Well, we could do tonight if you want." and the alternate replies with "Can you do... three nights?" In Mandela Catalogue Vol.2. Timestamp for that video 1:28 . From what we know alternates don't understand language/speech well. Just that they can copy how a person acts but it's not perfect. So when Adam says that "they could do it tonight." The alternate thinks that Adam said "two nights" hence why the alternate asks them to be there for three.

I was scared of Gabriel’s face at first, but I took a good long look at it and tbh he looks like he’s trying way too hard to be your friend, like he just gave you a gift and is standing there like “dId yOU lIkE iT!?!”
Putting my crazy theory here on the reupload as well: what if the intruder under Mark's stairs when he was a child was the real Jesus/Gabriel who was replaced by the devil? We saw that Jesus/Gabriel survived the replacement in some way since we have their narration after the fact on the dethroned video. It wouldn't be strange for they to be an eternal being, since they are some sort of divine being (an angel or the son of God). It would also explain why this intruder never hurt Mark and why the alternates would be desperate to get Mark out of the way
This is what I think as well, except I'm pretty sure it's Jesus and not Gabriel. Lucifer could have assumed his angelic form when he visited Mary, meaning he wouldn't have had to become an Alternate of Gabriel. The only motive I can think of for why Lucifer would do that would be if he had to trick God into thinking that events were unfolding as he had planned. But I don't think his pychological manipulation would work on a fellow angel (so how would the Alternate-creation process work?), or that Gabriel could be killed, and God would find out what was really going on after Lucifer became an Alternate of Jesus, anyway. If Jesus survived the process when Lucifer copied his appearance, he could be in some sort of Limbo because he failed to die the way he was supposed to (or maybe Lucifer convinced him he was delusional, as the end of Overthrone implies that whoever is being cast into the desert is unsure if God exists at all).
It’s unbelievable how talented of a writer and world builder Alex Kister is! I can’t even imagine what would happen if you gave this guy a multimillion dollar budget
@@someguy4405 yea i think a big part of the charm of the series is how "low-quality" it is, not in the sense that it is badly made (it is very excellently crafted and well made) but there is a lot of "empty space" and lack of knowledge in both the execution of the story and in the story itself, and that lack of something concrete we can hold onto is what makes it really scary in my opinion, with a huge budget i feel like most people would feel pressured to fill every space with something because of the size of the budget but then that would take away from what makes it scary imo that being said i hope bro is caking off this series, he deserves it
Imagine how good this would be if Alex had a whole film crew with the budget to make sets and props for the Mandela catalogue, with Alex directing it all and reviewing before release

There’s a great line in the second volume where Adam says “we can come tonight” and the alternate responds with “how about three nights” showing it hasn’t mastered human speech and heard tonight as two nights.
Okay so personally
While I think that's a very neat touch if intentional
I've never read the situation that way.

I have a theory:
There was a VERY large emphasis on how religious Mark was (ex: church photos, Bible in his room, his journal) before he ended himself, and there is a very large focus on mark writing “who have I been praying to this entire time” and how it was his breaking point.
I guess tough non religious people could make up 3%
Also in the MAD video didn't they say to avoid philosophy as well?

Maybe a stretch, but worth noting that Davis' name is one letter away from being "David"
In reference to the Biblical David, who faced down the towering Goliath, and against all odds, defeated the giant
Davis faced down a towering Alternate, and while he didn't kill it, he didn't die from the otherwise fatal encounter, likely due to his lack of fear.

I took a look into it, and found out that three recurrent numbers are what's known as "angel numbers". the way that alternates cross over reminds me of the common fairy trope that peoples (usually childrens) belief in fairies is what keeps the fairies alive/gives them their magic. belief in the alternates allows them to exist in our world. makes sense that they take advantage of children and religion to trick people into believing in them.
"I believe in alternates! I believe in alternates! I believe in OH SHIT FUCK WHAT HAVE I DONE?"
So does this mean timkerbell is an alternate then?
Fairy lore is also similar in how they kidnap the children, aka Changelings. There's a lot of correlation there.
In real life I'm not religious but I'm spiritual and even the thought of having my eyes closed in bed and being afraid to open them if some creature is staring inches away into my face, makes me feel like id be praying to something to get it to go away and wind up getting it even closer scares me to death
my favourite subplot of the mandela catalogue is the blooming friendship between alex and wendigoon
I commented this on the old upload, but I might as well put it here too so it's still visible:
I think the reason Mark's death is so special is because it was the catalyst for the alternate invasion becoming as big as it was.
A brilliant take!

@Damien Wonder no they're beautiful and powerful and that strength is scary.
@Damien Wonder It's not really "all". Most angels in the Bible either appear as humans or their shape isn't really specified. Also, they typically say "don't be afraid" because they appear in people's houses or temples unexpectedly.
@@am-ranth8955 that sounds powerfully beautiful to me, exactly what I described. Glad we agree.
@Damien Wonder Wait hold on "be not afraid" would work very well for this series
Mark when he was trapped in the room, he was actually in there for 1 day. And in his logs he noted that “it has been days” but it was actually 1 single day. It’s crazy to see how the alternate targeting Mark messed with his perception of time. Cool little detail i’ve noticed
When I heard the "legions of hell" voices from the Voices Outside My Door segment, i just sort of picture looking through a peephole to see an Alternate standing inches from the door, staring intently with its mouth wide open as the sound of a crowded room pours from its gaping mouth like a speaker, as if its mimicking every voice it has all at once.
this is horrifying thank you so much
Now I’m even more terrified :(
Wow…….hate that
Oh well... thanks for the horrifying thought.

My guess is Savior is trying to help Adam start up the revolution against False Savior, while staying fairly hidden to not catch attention too quickly
i think this has been disproven
for one, the real jesus is trapped in the desert, no mentions of anything beyond that
for two, the intruder's name is six
for three, we've had alex confirm that six and the man in the tv are the same people
and for the final nail on the cross, alex has confirmed that six/the intruder will have a far more sinister role later on in the story
@@chingmuankim4927 Ah, I didnt know. Either way eager to see S3
my thought exactly. in the previous episode, when Hooded Figure's identity was called into question, my first thought was "Oh, it's Jesus." he's been created mortal via divine coup, yet still has a metaphysical form corrupted by his fall, thus his Alternate-like appearance. doomed to wander the Earth, why would this husk of The True Savior (i'm considering to be Jesus) mean harm to mortals? he just... lurks there.
I hope

But even more terrifying is that people do fucked up shit in the name of religion in real life. "Fabricated" or not.
Not SOME entity were talking about the devil the exact opposite of Christ
The Devil with a mask of God
25:50 the way this is phrased raises an interesting question, at least to me. When they say "the patient must actively seek it out" do they mean:
A.) In order for MAD to truly take a hold of someone, they must seek out the information and as long as they refrain from doing so, they will remain unaffected
B.) In order to AVOID the effects of MAD, one must actively chase after the information, and as long as they do so, they will remain unaffected
Cause these both drastically change the game here.
Reminds me of the phrase "the truth shall set you free".
honestly i think it's B, bc as it's mentioned, MAD happens bc of being told *UNWANTED* information, so, if that, usually unwanted information, instead becomes *WANTED* information by YOU, you should be able to avoid and survive MAD.
@@DeepResonanceX That's what I'm thinking, too. I think Adam is special because he's not afraid of the knowledge, and the Alternates are desperately trying to make him afraid.
@@skipperxiv9401 exactly, and the Adam situation is exactly why i think it's that way, makes sense with most of what we know atm.
These videos are extremely well made! I started watching your stuff back in 2020 and it's been awesome seeing the content you put out :)
It’s the ultimate marvel what if comic 😅
Great take
An all-powerful God who loves everyone is definitely not real because there are bad things like murder. A god only be one of these things.
@@firestorm5371 If God is all powerful then how can it be all good. If the bad was not a part of it than it wouldn't be all powerful would it?
I appreciate that you don't put on creepy music and vibes. I don't think I could immerse myself in this world if that was the case, and I def can't watch the originals.
Theory: I think the woman that contacted Adam and Jonah was most likely Mark’s sister. Who we saw in the photo standing next to mark. For whatever reason she is feeding the alternates in the house
I'm pretty sure that the woman that called Adam and Jonah was an alternate herself. Using the voice of either Ceasar's mother or someone else that the alternate copied/killed.
Especially when Adam says:
"Well, we could do tonight if you want." and the alternate replies with "Can you do... three nights?" In Mandela Catalogue Vol.2. Timestamp for that video 1:28 .
From what we know alternates don't understand language/speech well. Just that they can copy how a person acts but it's not perfect. So when Adam says that "they could do it tonight."
The alternate thinks that Adam said "two nights" hence why the alternate asks them to be there for three.

@@someguy4405 yea i think a big part of the charm of the series is how "low-quality" it is, not in the sense that it is badly made (it is very excellently crafted and well made) but there is a lot of "empty space" and lack of knowledge in both the execution of the story and in the story itself, and that lack of something concrete we can hold onto is what makes it really scary in my opinion, with a huge budget i feel like most people would feel pressured to fill every space with something because of the size of the budget but then that would take away from what makes it scary imo
