Hi. I’m raising my first liter of puppies. I’m having a really hard time with getting emotional. I cry all the time thinking of the day. I cried watching the End of your video. I’m very attached to them and having a hard time with thinking of letting go. There are 11 of them and I love them all.

Ellie, I'm not going to lie, it is hard. What helps is realizing the amount of joy you are giving others that day, about a decade each family. Multiply that by the number of puppies you have and it's over a century's worth of love you are handing out in a single day! On that day, I try to remember it's not about me, but about the families, and I must remained composed for their sake. They have been counting down the days, and probably even hours for this, I don't want to take anything from their excitement. What helps at the end of the day is treating yourself to a really nice dinner and spilling your emotions on someone close to you.

Thank you for your reply. You actually helped me feel better because you’ve been there. I’m glad you shared your experience with me about being composed too. You are right about that. I certainly wouldn’t want to make anybody feel sad or uncomfortable. I appreciate your tip. You have a lovely channel, I’ve learned a lot from it. I have never done this and it wasn’t my idea or my doing, so I was very unprepared. But watching you guys taught me much! Thanks again. I’m trying to stay strong and enjoying the happiness they are giving me...even if it’s for a short time of my life. Thanks again 🙂

Hi! When you first transition from soaked puppy chow to dry puppy chow, do you need to remove their water for 20 minutes so they don't get bloated? I feel like I read that somewhere, and was just curious to hear what you guys do? Thanks again for the amazing content :)

Sorry for the delayed response, was on vacation. Hope this isn't too late to help. To your question, no, we never remove water. We keep it available always. And actually, what we've learned is that the dry kibble actually robs some fluid from their GI system so we make sure fresh water is always available. To further our point, when feeding our household dogs we actually 'float' their food in water (not to soften, as it is served immediately upon adding the water. This adds extra hydration since the dry kibble would otherwise take it from their gut. This is common practice amongst dog training people and what I've heard from vets who run their dogs in Iditarods. Good luck!

how did you keep your puppies from playing in the alfalfa at night while you are not with them. ours pups are almost 7 weeks now and the only problem is the alfalfa pellets being strewn everywhere. i keep it really clean but they love sleeping in there too. any pointers?

Hi Charlie, I can't say we had that problem. Do you have a crate attached to the pen for sleeping? Ours slept in there, or in puppy piles around the pen. We did have to pick up all toys and put them out of reach at night other than the step buckets, because they do like to drag toys into the litter tray. But once we removed those there was no continued play in the pans at night. I will say that in the mornings there was some occasional pellets just outside the trays, but easy to sweep up. Seven weeks already! Boy that time has gone like the blink of an eye. You must almost be getting ready for good-bye day. 😭
