We have our first litter of F1B golden doodles and are in week 3.5 and are implementing your potty training plan with alfalfa and so far some will potty on the pads on the alfalfa but it’s hard to keep up because we have 9 puppies. Haha!

Yes, it is a bit hard with so many at first. But we did it with a litter of 10 successful so keep it up! You will have success! Obviously the more time physically with them to help teach the more success you will have but it sounds like you are putting in the effort required. 😀 If you regress one day, it's okay. Some days will feel like two steps forward, one back, but most of the days will be forward progress each day. And you will have some super star's 🌟that catch on more quickly. 😂 Enjoy your litter, the time passes quickly! 🐾🐾💕

Curious...Did you have to worry about the momma or little pups eating the Alfalfa pellets?

Thanks so much for your heart for your puppies guys - our puppies have just turned 6weeks old and its been so encouraging watching you guys... we're keeping two, so three more weeks till four go. Is there an email that you don't mind letting people have to ask some questions? I respect it if you would rather not... thank you Donna

The next week's will go fast for you! Get ready for a roller-coaster of emotions on goodbye day. Keeping a puppy (or 2 in your case 💕) helps. 🐾🐾

Why did you decide to make the separation at 7th week? I`ve read so many times that 10 weeks is the best for them to separate, so they learn canine language, to measure their strength when they are playing.
    I loved your videos

I apologize for the delay in response and thank you for the question.
Actually we've read the opposite. Maybe it is different for other breeds, but specifically for Retriever's, day 49 is the magic day. It's been shown that during the 8th week of life, imprinting begins and it is especially important this take place with their owners and in their new homes. Beyond day 49 pups develop a pack mentality if they remain in one, a pecking order will develop because of this. The dog needs to become a team mate with their new owners, not seven other little puppies. However, you may be correct about other breeds, toy breeds possibly.

    was jasmine sad?

I think they recognized their puppies are no longer near by, but keeping Nala was a nice distraction. This time we also 'puppy-sat' one for an additional week for the new owners, so we had two little puppies for a week for a distraction. But, to answer your question in general, we need to remember that these are animals and it is in their nature to live life as such. The maternal bond does not progress beyond the duty of raising them to the point where they are mature enough to make it on their own. (think of wolves, deer, etc., in the wild).
