you (correctly) address subjects that many would or do shy away from considering. I admire you for doing so much to demystify many aspects of what is everyday life and presenting it in such a clear and accurate way. I am glad that you are getting some essential redevelopment of your bathroom. If this sounds stilted, typing is a challenge tonight, I had should surgery yesterday, so my dominant hand and arm is stuck in a sling, and I am on the extra pills popping round for a day or so.

Interesting and fascinating to hear about something like this. Thanks for the candid talk, few people could be secure enough to do what you're doing.

My goodness girl your life trials make mine seem so trivial.
And yet you handle it so well!
I was a kid who came of age in the 70’s. I was raised on the horrors of both WW2 as well as Vietnam and I had family who fought in both.
Want to know how I found your channel? I bought the dvd of the movie “Born on the fourth of July”
There was a terrible scene where these paralyzed war veterans were in a understaffed VA hospital and while a popular 60’s song played they were all in the enema room taking care of business. The scene reminded me of a car wash.
I thought my God is this what people so handicapped have to do to simply perform their necessaries ?
Curiosity on TH-cam got the best of me and your channel came up first.
Bless you girl for your perseverance! You already in my mind seem a kindred .
I have in my 58 years been hardened to death and suffering after having to watch my mom bury 3 sons. I was the last one standing so when Ma died it was just me and I could not shed a tear at her funeral.. for whatever reason.
But I was able to after your bad news vid!? Kind of surprised me!
Thank you and good luck in the future .

I'm not the only one who Googles things I see in movies lol! I've never seen that movie but it's on my list to watch. You're the second person to talk about it to me!
I'm not sure my trials are greater than yours. I can't imagine war or losing 3 brothers and my mom.
I'm glad you stumbled upon my channel and it helped you understand a bit about life with a disability. Hope you stick around!

I've done a mix of all the things you mentioned in this video. But, due to family history of endometriosis, I did notice that my flow as a child/teen was VERY heavy and opted to just go on the pill w/o taking the placebo pills that come in each "cycle". Life CHANGER!!!!! I will go back off the pill once I'm hopefully married one day and start trying to get pregnant.

Yeah having a regular period that's not super heavy is so nice. The pill helps with that for sure!

Hi Britany! I like organic tampons and other feminine products too. You could also try Cora, L beauty, nature, care, OB, Veeda, Ráyal and many others.
Organic is a good brand as well, although I’ve never used it before.
I love your channel. I happen to be blind so it’s nice to hear about other disabilities and see how people live with different disabilities and health conditions other than my own.

@@EmpoweredPara be careful thinking 'organic' products are really organic. Anyone can slap an 'organic' label on things. The cheap ones, just like cheap Q-Tips, fall apart on you...or in you. I had toxic shock syndrome (TSS) from OB Tampons...was super sick and in hospital for 2 months. OB tampons were taken off the market for the last time in 2011. The company 'claims' it was a business decision. The truth is, the FDA pulled them off shelves and kept a recall on them until the company was losing business keeping plans to continue selling them...then they made the 'business decision' to take them off the market. Trust me, it was NOT voluntary. The TSS was one reason for my emergency hysterectomy and never being able to have kids. Looking back, I should have jumped on the class action law suit thing...but I was a young whipper snapper and didn't really know better. They also claimed to be 'organic cotton'...yeah, right 🙄.

@@EmpoweredPara I'm more of Margaret's mindset....if you can manage in a non-adaptive set up...go for it. When I broke my neck, there WAS no such thing as a roll in shower or wheelchair accessible home; you just made it work. My house isn't anywhere near wheelchair accessible, accept for the ramp out front and little ramps going from room to room.

Well, since we are somewhat old, my wife and I haven’t talked about periods for many years now, but still a good video as you discuss topics others would shy away from. Onto the bathroom renovations, as I really love seeing bathroom & kitchen renovations - we redid our kitchen and all 3 bathrooms over the past 8 years - are you getting a new shower? Or a new vanity? Will the renos mean less gouging of the walls?

I never heard it called 'shark week' before. I don't understand...why don't you have a suprapubic catheter. They maintain bladder control by use of a flip-flow valve, have less UTIs and they are totally reversible within hours.

    • @jlfrench3667
      @jlfrench3667 ปีที่แล้ว +1

She refers to her period as “Shark Week” as an inside joke to describe her period which as we know involves the release of blood from the uterus and sharks can smell blood 🩸 and deem it an indicator that their next meal is near by. It’s what she chooses to call it and that’s ok. I actually think it’s light hearted, clever, and funny ☺️ And regarding the catheters, I’m sure she uses what’s best for her body. And personally knowing others who are also paralyzed, and having first hand knowledge of the catheters they use, which claim to prevent UTI’s but yet they still experience UTI’s, because after a while no matter what type is used, the inability for the secretion to flow without aide day after day, the UTI’s are bound to occur.
