i have to ask, what was the intended meaning of this song when it was written, because i cant help but feel like it is slightly threataning, the person the singer is talking about feels like they are scared and vulnerable with the singer trying to convince themselves that there is a genuine spark, with it all being bound together with a slightly deranged sounding voice? is my interperatation not matching the origional intended meaning?

I think it's just a song about young love. Like two kids running around having adventure and finding a cave behind a waterfall. The Singer realised either in that moment or in retrospect (use of the past tense throughout the song makes me believe it's probably in retrospect) that that was the moment he fell in love with the other person
