Figure Note:
Stop-Motion Transformation of 01-Studio Cell. It’s no wonder Hasbro went after these guys. This thing blows the Haslab Unicron away. Sure, It’s not as big, but it manages to look more like Unicron with a much, MUCH more clever transformation that hides all the sphere panels away from every angle. I could go on and on about how clever this design is, and in fact I will this coming Wednesday when I livestream about it. Whereas the Haslab one looks like a turtle from the back and still has to stack panels up on the lower legs like a stack of Pringle’s chips. Embarrassing for Hasbro, huge victory for Zeta or whatever they call themselves.

Planet to Robot: 0:09
Robot to Planet: 1:33
Speed run to Robot: 2:57
Speed run to Planet: 3:25
2x Run: 3:52
End credits: 4:19
Production Note: This thing was a real challenge to manage. I’ve never had my camera that far back from the stage just to fit something in frame. Otherwise he’s not too complicated. It would be a lot of fun to have the exact same figure downsized to, say, Leader Class scale just to have something a little easier to manage just to fiddle with.
Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using the Chrome plugin called "Frame by Frame for TH-cam". It turns your , and . keyboard keys into single-frame movement keys. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.
Music: The music is by Ethan Meixsell - www.ethanmeixsell.com
Songs: “By the Sword” and “Run”
Dude, this is your masterpiece. Yes, the figure is drool-inducingly impressive. But so is the _elegance of movement_ in the stop motion. Particularly like how all the hip skirt pieces blossom out, and the tiered torso rotations. Gorgeous to watch.
Gorgeous For sure. That leg swing ☺️ !
agreed
Late reply, but don't forget about the wave of teeth folding in the collar!
The humanity is so hardcore to life SERIOSLY
The engineering on this thing is amazing. There's hardly any kibble on it, unlike an official version I've seen *cough* *haslab* *cough*.
fact !!
Perfect sphere. Barely any kibble. Not a shellformer. Spitting image. Do we have a winner?
@@Trans4mers84561 . This Studio Cell is the winner for sure 🥇
Lol To true!! & the face on *cough* haslab doesn't have the likeness in face captured like this version does in my opinion
It uses its mass and actually transforms, rather than being a robot in a shell of panels.
Although I like little details and "relief" on the official toy, engineering of this one is a fruit of labor of some genius. It's a masterpiece.
Agreed. The official one ticks exactly one checkbox: "big". There is nothing else to recommend it.
Very impressive mold! Has a very nice Transformers the movie vibe. Even more impressive: your video! Respect!
Thanks!
A beautiful toy. I wish tthey make a toy like this for Primus someday. If the bad guy of transformers has this level of care, the good guy deserves it too. The transformation sequence is impressive.
Maybe its Planet Key would be made of solid gold.
Back when images of Cell were circulating the internet, I remember how everyone was speculating that you'd need to flip the figure inside out to Transform it. Yet Zeta (and 01 Studio) managed to make a solid, fun-looking Transformation, that's remarkably clean, considering that the entire planet shell either folds into the armor or "nestles" into the limbs. It disappoints me how several of those who prefer the Haslab Unicron don't even acknowledge how impressive Cell's engineering is.
As always, great job capturing the Transformation, Peolesdru! I love how smothly you manipulated the planet mode to show the different moving parts. Congrats on getting your video released before TouchToys's!
They can't bring themselves to acknowledge it because they have to convince themselves that size is everything and they made the right choice.
I'm getting haslab for the better looking planet mode and this for the better looking robot mode.
@@Dai_Tallsian. Yes it's obvious Haslab did nail the planet mode. But I'm not sure they got the outer ring right. I guess if you could have Haslab in planet mode and Studio-01 in Robot that would look cool
@@tristmas6458 I really like how large the ring is on the haslab one. Makes the planet feel larger.
I saw a video with Haslab's Unicron, and yeah, I can totally see what you're talking about. This one, from Studio 01 is exceptionally well designed, everything folds in nicely, either forming the limbs or getting inside the torso. The legs were probably the only thing that left out a little bit sticking out. Haslab's, on the other hand, feels like we're unwrapping a big gift, but the wrapping paper is all stuck to the gift, so we have to awkwardly fold it and stick it to the sides so it doesn't look too bad. Their planet form does look better, though, but still, I'd take Studio 01's.
Just amazed that 3rd party keeps showing up Hasbro. This is a far cleaner Unicron. Size doesn't matter when it's a big heap of kibble. And this planet mode is solid enough. I really enjoyed this stop motion. I had the Unicron theme playing in my head while seeing this ! Well done Peolesdru. You are the benchmark of stop motion. 🤙
Unicron, the only character who can make pale blue and yellow look intimidating.
I find your color choices highly dubious but very well... blue and yellow orange!
mmm mango. Mangocron
What about Morrissey? ☺️👍🐒
Nick Wilcox hilarious!!! I needed that laugh, thank you!
For a time... I considered carrying on with my work. But now I shall witness... the latest peolesdru video!
Holy shit... No trace of planet in that robot mode whatsoever.... O_O
There's a TINY amount of curve on the back of the legs... but they easily pass as calf contours. Amazing.
What does this guy sell for?
Absolutely brilliant engineering!
@@sideswipe1261 $399 shipping included.
Again I must thank you for creating these detailed transformations. I finally got my hands on an 01-Studio Pumpkin, and man, those were some hard-to-decipher instructions.
Glad I could help!
Did you see their Primus? There are some renders and some blurry prototype photos out there. Search ShowZStore for "Primus" to see them gathered in one place.
This figure knocks the haslab Unicron out of the water! no kibble! (verses folded up potato chips like the haslab Unicron)
Yeah but the final version of haslab Unicron isn't out yet
My subscription feed: "I have summoned you here for a purpose"
No one summons SonOfAB_tch2ndClass!
The fact you can transform the whole thing and there will be zero kibble at all after transforming is amazing. That thing is four kiss worthy
YOU ABSOLUTE MADMAN!!! THIS IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!
Got this piece today. After transforming the figure, I gotta comment on how impressive this video is.
Thanks! Hope it helped.
I agree with the last person who sent his comment, there was no junk parts sticking out of unicorn!! Great work👍👍👍👍
Thanks!!!!
Thanks for your reply!!!
@@DBWalks2010 hey did you forget to switch accounts
Arblus! Look! It's Unicron!!
I'm obsessed with this thing. Can't keep my hands or eyes off it. The more I look at pictures of the Haslab the more shit it looks to me.
I feel slightly obsessed too. Like somehow Unicron is infiltrating our minds and telling us to destroy the matrix. No Unicron I won't! I love the matrix. But God dam I love you in your toy form you big thing you!!! Sorry I went to far 🤯
The way all the plates fold in neatly, and form the limbs, it feels like plastic origami!
One of my favorite channels! Finally someone transformed these awesome toys stop motion!
Great music too! Fits G1!
AMAZING JOB!
Thank you so much 😀
this is great and the fact that you managed to do this is a feat in itself!
Unicron really do be looking fresh with that popped collar
OMG you actually DID THIS OMG DUDE YOU`RE CRAZY
Nice. That's a work of art right. Finally someone actually did it. They made a proper Unicron figure.
Gotta say it. That is some impressive engineering. Thanks for showing this off.
MAGNIFICENT, A MASTERPIECE, A MIRACLE... of Human Creativity...
This is such a sick and awesome video, this must've taken so much time to gather all those shots especially with this transformation, love the music choices btw! You got yourself a new sub!
This is amazing. I transformerd my son's one from robot to planet for the first time today. It took me 3 hours, and it never went anywhere near as smoothly as this video. #thisstopmotionissmootherthanapayneofglass. Stunning video of a stunning toy!!! He looks soooooo good lit up as well. I wish they did a version that was like 100 or so pounds more that was a third bigger or something. I would buy another one for sure if they did!
great job working with the size of the figure!! the video turned out fantastic and im glad it did, this thing deserves it!!
I love the music in your videos! It reminds me of Jeff Loomis and makes the videos that much more awesome haha
Now THIS is a beach ball of doom!
Holyshit this video is Coool as hell!!..luv the Transformation sequence!! This is a hell of figure & looks & transforms the EXACT way it did in the movie!! Excellent engineering & excution on the toy makers part!! & Excellent video my friend!! Very Creative & Well done !!👌🏽💥💣💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Glad you liked it!!
Can’t wait to get mine in the mail. Awesome video.
I got to say it upsets me how smooth you make it look. I've seen so many reviewers have trouble handling and transform it that I've been off put on getting it. Now this makes me reconsider that decision. But I've also purchased Haslab Unicron so I still don't know.
I'll go into more detail on the Wednesday livestream.
I can say in my opinion that is your best video so far,i can imagine all the work you put on this big boy
PS:Sorry for my bad english, Brazilian here
Just amazing dude! I saw on Emgos channel that this guy is a workout to transform. I can only imagine what the stopmotion process must have been like.
He's actually very solid, so he held all of his positions just fine. The hardest part of transforming him is the size of him and al the little molded-in details can be rough on the hands.
There are some clever people around!
YOOOOO🔥🔥 I remember having the Armada figure with the translucent parts years ago. This one takes the cake.
Amazing job! Thanks for sharing.
Great video and reference should I ever get a few beers in me and decide to transform mine😅😅 Cheers 🍻
Also watch the livestream I did on him.
Fantastic movie, watching it for the third time and don't care that the music is giving me a headache 👍🏼🤪🤗
You can mute it and play your own music!
Fantastic idea 👍🏼😆🤗
osem transformation, way more better than the official. loved the way the legs r formed. the head is excellent too. great video.
Kibble: 1%
Amazingness: 9000+%
You always make it look so easy
Fantastic as always
This will make the perfect centerpiece to any 3rd Party collection.
Man, this is amazing!! Great work!
HE DID IT
This is amazing!
It really is!
Mine's taking goddamn forever to get to me after I had to opt for surface mail due to the bastard virus situation. Outstanding video, as always, but watching this is torture!
Hang in there!
I know how that feels. I'm waiting for mine too. I hope yours comes soon
Great video!
Thanks!
Wow...amazing transformation...are you watching this Bobby Skullface?
Ha! I couldn't finish watching his review. Too painful.
Man.. I think I'm the only one who hasn't received this item yet. I ordered him over 3 weeks ago!
Fantastic video tho, really love you smooth stop motions
It's funny cuz the first transformation you did on this toy for the first minutes of the video is around the same speed that he actually transforms in the movie
This thing is a goddamn work of the dark arts. I like to encourage people to support official figures when possible, but this one blows the hasbro one out of the water in so many ways. The back of him isn't just a mess of panels all folded together. Sick music too, as always!
Just wow!
This is what hasbro should've given us.
Especially if it has a light-up fist and eyes. (I'm partial to that feature from the Armada one ok? :P)
Sadly no light-up fist.
AWESOME
I don't want to imagine the problem that was animating that huge thing x'D
The main problem is having to edit out the part of my room that shows up when I have to pull my camera wayyy back to get the whole figure in frame. Otherwise, these big ones hold their positions very well and are nice to work with.
Would love to see this guy remolded as beast machines megatron
Most excellent. Bravo!
Epic!
As much as I love Hasbro, I still can't understand how is it that their Engineers cannot try to put a bit of emphasis in the transformations, especially on their version of Unicron. At least in their Seige and EarthRise figures they have been more dedicated, but really... They just drop the ball sometimes compared to 3rd Party figures like this beauty.
Hasbro puts sculpted details over engineering and accurate proportions in their figures and this is proven by the Studio Series, WFC and MPM line with awesome front-foward figures with all that sculpt (most brainwashed fans fall for this trick) but is accomplished using fake parts all too often and cutting budget in the engineering which results in figures with chunks of kibble in the back, arms and legs or even straight-up shellformers thanks to their lazy transformation design to rely too much of details and pre-molded limbs so that they don't incorporate any kibble from alt-modes into robot modes (looking at you Haslab Unicron and MPM Ratchet) contrary to Studio 1 Cell Unicron, Unique Toys Challenger, Dragoon, Ocular Max Azalea and Transcraft Bumblebee.
@@TheBatman39 Agreed, this bothers me a lot, since yes, Haslab Unicron has a beautiful design and looks great, but man, how lazy the transformation is. In fact it makes me like more my Armada Unicron since at least the design on that was in par with the show as well as the Transformation. If Studio Cell was priced as Armada Unicron, I would definitely get it.
@@TheBatman39 I was going to say the current "show accurate" trend in masterpiece figures contradict an emphasis on sculpt and detail over engineering, but actually that's the same thing, isn't it? Instead of allowing the more detailed alt mode kibble to be part of the robot mode, they turn the figures inside-out to hide it and usually have to resort to backpacks because there isn't actually enough room for that.
Mejor tarde que nunca artista toma like 😎👍
Fantastic detail in your video. I love it all albeit had to mute the song. Lol
My choice in music is not for everyone. But since there is no dialogue you can substitute your own music!
This was fantastic!!!’
Huge
This Unicron figure blows that HasLab piece of shit out the fucking water. It's so perfect.
This is better than haslab
Hands down.
thanx so much fr this!
Este Transformers es muy cool gracias a peolesdru por compartir su transformaciin tan chimba saludos desde colombia Villavicencio wuuu
Now you just need to make a cinematic shot and do a side by side with the movie
I showed how I transform it with no hands in the way and with every movement in-frame, so I've done what I came to do.
Unicron: I have summoned your skills, peolesdru, for a purpose.....
I missed this. It makes me so sad. *cries*
There is a reissue coming out in November. There are some sites that does have him again for preorder for about $250 shipped. Just need to look!
I'm pretty sure they still have him on show.z store I think. Sorry if I'm wrong
The Bumblebee movie makers should use this as reference when bringing him back!
(Now if only George Orwell could voice him again)
*Orson Wells
TIME TO GET OUT THE WIDE ANGLE LENSE BOYS!
That being said, Holy crap this thing is sooo much nicer than the "Chonk legs, and Hiking pack" of the hasbro one.
the only issues I have with this figure:
the collar is distractingly chunky
the front to back symmetry of the torso is really weird
the core details inside the torso don't line up, like, at all (this one in particular really grinds my gears)
other than those gripes, yeah this is basically the second coming of christ
And it allows for you to put a light behind it and make the abs glow like in the movie!
@GAMP: Sicker than your average kigger nilller That is correct, thus making this robot mode about 90% screen accurate.
Tava esperando esse video
Third party companies should be working on making G1 transformers not the Michael Bay versions, but the live action versions look a little cool. Not gonna lie.
That was awesome
Hell yeah it was
Are you agreeing with yourself?
peolesdru man forgot to switch accounts lmfao
Bellissimo
Epic
Unicron! Answer me! See this, the Matrix!!!!!
I know possess that which you most fear!
*Unicron ROARS*
TakaraTomy needs to get work on a Masterpiece G1 Unicron.
I think they already blew their wad on their criminally incompetent Haslab Unicron.
Only if it's to scale with the other Masterpiece figures.
@@DoctorPhileasFragg If it were to scale, it'd be about the size of a small Asteroid
I had a question to ask you about this video in relation to my upcoming video, is there any spot i should shoot a DM?
Why couldn't this have released in the 1980's! sigh.
Could you have left the rings on for this stop-motion transformation sequence, since they peg into the same holes in both modes?
Yes. But these videos are how I would go about transforming these figures, and I definitely remove the rings before dealing with the rest of it.
Wow
From G1 movie unicron size, i doubt that unicron is planet size robot, island shape maybe still on my logic
Not gonna lie this guy doesn't look bad at all but I'm waiting for hashlabs WFC unicron
This guy is far superior in all areas except size.
Came here from Lazy Eyebrow's shout-out.
Welcome! Take a look around!
This figure has a reputation for being hard to transform and if that is discouraging you from getting it, I recommend watching this: th-cam.com/video/BPkxYjdJ0-Q/w-d-xo.html
He transforms it in 20 minutes, in real time, no cuts, narrated with tips on the proper technique. As someone whose collecting philosophy is that figures should be transformed often, and the process should be enjoyable I almost didn't get this figure (until I saw the tutorial I linked). I just transformed it for the first time and it is now my favorite figure in my collection. I hope Studio 1 sells a ton of them so that they will make more products, because any company that can make Unicron with NO KIBBLE is a company I want to see more from.
I'm wondering if this video will shortly experience an onslaught of views from "HasLab Refugees"
I wish you royalty free jazz as background music
You can always mute and play your own music!
I can't
The only thing I don't like is how there's a duplicate of the red sixpack on his back. I guess they wanted it to be as symmetrical as possible for some reason?
that part at least can be blamed on the 86 movie, he had the red sixpack front and back.
Spheres are symmetrical, and the transformation essentially forms two halves of the planet-sphere out of two halves of the robot. It was probably cheapest and easiest to use the same piece for the abs on the back, since assembly was identical. Personally, I think they could've used a yellow variant, but since Hasbro sued, they may have been on a very tight budget.
If I remember correctly, Unicron's model sheet shows that his back is almost identical to the front of his torso, except for what looks to be small downward-pointing thrusters right above that rear sixpack.
The whole thing is rotationally symmetric, so they basically just press every part twice. Clever way to lower the mold cost.
Yeh it's actually accurate to Unicron in the movie. He has a back six pack 🤷♂️.😆
Do you need to remove the planet rings for transformation or are you just doing that for convenience?
I think you could theoretically keep the rings attached, but BOY would that be a pain in the ass.
@@peolesdru Haha got it. Thanks for the response!
This comment is a reconstruction of Hasbro ceasing production of the zeta toys corestar.
Hasbro: for a time I have considered sparing your wretched figure corestar but now shall witness its dismemberment.
Zeta toys: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Well, it worked out in the end anyway.
@@peolesdru of course. Let's hope hasbro doesnt cease production of this precious figure
Does it come with the head?
Yes. But they can't market it with the head. Head and wings come in a separate box that even has a completely different company name on it.
Someone really should send this to Bobby Skullface
I couldn't finish watching his review. It was like he only had 2 minutes to prepare.
@@peolesdru TBH I have watched a few of his videos and I think he should give up reviewing Transformers. He doesn't take the time to transform them correctly there are several videos where he breaks them. Which is really poor when often he has been loaned the pieces.
A lot of reviewers don't seem to comprehend the subject matter.
My heart exploded reading the comments on that video. Everyone was talking about how terrible the transformation looked, and was bc Bobby did a lame job transforming it. I'll try to recommend your video, but it's unlikely many will see my comment.
@@maxmocs5008 Bobby went in on the Haslab one. It fits his own internal narrative for the competing product to be inferior. There was little chance of him giving it a fair shake, even if he wasn't a bit transforming-impaired.
Is 91 Studio Cell (Unicron) taller than Armada Unicron toy?
Yes, quite a bit.
@@peolesdru Really?
Taller than CW Devastator
