Out of this world! I am old and my first violin teacher saw Ysaye play. He told me he never could figure out how Ysaye could play individual strings because his fingers were so thick. He said the violin looked 3/4 size in his hands.
The experience is different for everyone! if I may share mine: I'm a viola player and when I switched to it at 12 years old I hadn't learned the serious musician's violin repertoire and so I wasn't familiar with the Bach E Major prelude for violin. I heard this Ysaÿe's "Obsession" on TH-cam before hearing the Bach prelude. So I was actually more shocked when I realised there was more to the opening phrase that's played here when I eventually listened to Bach's prelude! Needless to say: I learned at age 12 that this was a nod to Bach and the clue is in the title that Ysaÿe could not get this motif out of his head and he expanded on it in his own unique way! Very nice performance by Hadelich, I love it :)
Too Incredible!!! Augustin performs with his out of this world perfection on one of the most difficult violin piece ever written. The "dynamic" range is almost impossible for me to fathom :-)
Wow! Again, I am left speechless from Augustin's performance. I, too, lack sufficient words to fully describe my admiration and appreciation of Augustin's artistry and phenomenal and unprecedented technical abilities. We are so fortunate to be living in an era where we have the technical means to record these unbelievable performances for posterity. Augustin's performances are hugely inspirational not only to violinists, but to all musicians.
@@dmitridmitrijevitsjsjostak3627 I think they’re maybe saying that English is their first language, unlike the OP, and even they don’t know how to do this performance justice with their words
Augustins' fantastic playing of the six Ysaÿe sonatas has raised the status of these works to master pieces. They are a really great joy to listen to and this one is no exception.
I'm far from being an expert in classical music but I must say that every your performance is an incredible journey for me, it touches my soul. Thank you.
I was already waiting for that precious Augustin! How to express for something that enriches the soul! My God! Amazing! Master of this Noble art!!! 👏👏👏
I love the intimacy of these performances and so much technical learning from being able to watch a virtuoso do his thing. I always find that Augustin has such great responses to technical questions.
Just phenomenal. I keep trying to emulate that relaxed left hand and seemingly effortless bow management. I’ll always love the Shumsky recordings, but this is on another level. The voicing and intonation and clarity and phrasing, all supreme.
I study computer science. While we have online lessons, it's quite hard to get your head free. Even with music. Those masterpieces from Hadelich are powerful enough to clear my focus and soft, to give me the right work flow. Just thank you. c:
BRAVISSIMO!
Perfect timing! Trying to learn this and I was about to watch someone else play this and then you popped up in my home screen... amazing as usual! I especially loved the sensitivity you displayed at 1:49. Thank you!
I've played the Obsession before. And I realized so many things I can do better with that piece hearing your version of it! ~And by the way, the Malinconia sounds easy but it is actually very hard to get in tune.
Thank you so much Augustin I really really enjoyed watching you play with such mastery of that sonata.. A comment below says your the Best, and I’d say not just that you are extraordinarily talented and clever too you play with your heart and passion and sensitivity too Yes you are absolutely Brilliant and Amazing Too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Mr. Hadelich's perfect intonation throughout is just almost unbelievable!!
Surprisingly well centered pitch ...was thinking the same thing
And the sound. Wood and honey
The malencolia nmis just a thing of beauty
Trust me, it doesn’t get any better than this. Hadelich is the supreme violinist of our time.
His sound full of color , light and clean yet rich and warm, how?!??
To be honest, it gets better everytime i listen/watch
@@NeilVendrick so true, like a good book...👏🏻
Hann and Jason do also have their chairs
If this doesn’t knock you out your chair you don’t really like the fiddle.
He is the best. And he wears the greatest shirts.
Who can pull off purple like that?😳❤️
Purple really suits him.
Out of this world! I am old and my first violin teacher saw Ysaye play. He told me he never could figure out how Ysaye could play individual strings because his fingers were so thick. He said the violin looked 3/4 size in his hands.
Wow
I always thought the same thing when I saw Perlman
And a viola would look like a full size in his hands! Ysaye had a huge viola which he could pull the biggest, thickest sound out of.
Someone who plays with such exquisite sensitivity must be a most decent and thoughtful individual much appreciated by those fortunate to know him.
The intonation, technique, sound, and musicality are simply unmatched. Astounding 😱 A living legend
And his double stops are pitch PERFECTION! A thrilling artist of uncommon skill!
The definition of what I hear:
I taste colors.
the cleanest violin player i have heard till this day!.... awesome!
1.Obsession (prelude) 00:00
2. Malinconia 2:49
3. Danse des ombres (Sarabande) 5:56
4. Les furies 10:21
I was surprised that no one put time stamps in the comments, so there you go
Thanks!
I was not expecting that opening at all and i loved it!
It's a good piece right? I've also played it.
Read this as it happened to me 😂

Divine attention to detail!!
Mindboggling performance. And this is the first time I've ever heard the second and third movements played by anyone.
Same here, and those 2 movements are absolutely beautiful.
Out of this world. Augustine's combination of technique and musicality is unsurpassed.
This is like listening to an animated but nuanced conversation - beautiful interpretation that lets every aspect of the piece speak for itself
