"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done! - บันเทิง

Hi Dadwon Don
Good day with a Kevin video! Thanks.
Hey Kevin 👋 Glad to see the refresh!!!😊🎉❤
Your play yard there reminds me of a Hobbit Village..😂😅 All the cool structures, tiny buildings, and inventive contraptions. It'll be great to see the fish grow. Love what you're doing 😊
Go Pro footage was top tier filming 26:57 😂
It's like the 3rd time using it... They are awful
@@ModernSelfReliance Well we appreciate the effort !
So awesome to own a pond🐸🍺🔪🔥
Well that is one way to stir up the pond!!😅
I love to do lists and spring clean. It's fun for us to see each year what you have to do and how all of the old projects have stood up.
How's the foxhole holding up?
Left hand isn't useless... it makes your Right hand look great!!!!
Thanks, Kevin for an enjoyable video. Nice to see your Dad help you out. Take care.
😂 I Love The Throw Ball I Always Use A 10oz sinker 🤣 💀 and hope it doesn't hit anything or anyone on the way down the other side... I Gotta Get Me One Of Those ✌🏼💀✌🏼

"My left hand is only there to look pretty." Me too Kevin, me too.
Good video Kevin! Good job on falling the trees kinda close quarters but turned out well for you! How many cuts did you get on yourself fixing the wind mill? Good job on that! The area there is looking really good! Was nice having your dad their to help! Looking forward to seeing the fish feeder work curious about that would definitely make feeding the fish easier for sure! Looking forward to seeing your next one! Take care!
Polywogs look like... tadpoles! ;)
Cool. Thank you for taking us along with you.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we want another bigger better spider hole
“They look like little hehehehe…..like pollywogs” We knew where that thought went 😂😂😂
Another great video Kev!
Hi dad!
Cool😊😊😊
If you can get hold of 'barley straw' this is a natural algae killer, just dump some netted bundles into the pond. 👍
Good morning from Minnesota USA! Nice "do list" episode
That would be me too. I know I will like the video.
Great show again thank you for sharing this with us. Have a great day.

Always the doubters.... Lol
Good Video. Full Stop!

Your dad does look and sound like Don!
heck yeeee
Enjoyed the video. Got a bunch of projects takin care of. That trout was 16LBS. How big can the get? Thanks for sharing. Have a great week end. It's Memorial day week end in America.
Kevin I think your Dad tried to kill you 😂. Way to use your head….🤪. Glad you are ok. Frankie definitely has the best & biggest water bowl AND it the perfect height so he doesn’t have to bend down to get a drink. PS maybe you can use some ELMers glue to fix the “elm disease on the trees…jk ppl.
Kevin I don’t know about pond chemicals. But when I had an in ground pool the pool people told me to put my shock treatments etc at night. Because if you add that stuff during the day the Sun can evaporate it before it has a chance to do its job. 😉. Totally makes sense. Again I don’t know if that matter with the stuff you are using in the pond. Just figured I would share.
I need you to post a video of your Dad and Don next to each other…. Do they really look like twins or is it just my imagination? 😅
Ur dad looks like Chris alot
Whoever designed that beanbag throw, I want to thank you. I've been raking my brain and almost killed myself once. Also put a hole in my plastic correlated greenhouse roof.
Corrugated?
@@susanherrmann2938 yep, thanks.
Baby frogs are tadpoles.
Polliwogs
Csn you please extend the pond and leave a small dam in-between and break the dam let the water flow into the new dug section .
Have like a bridge that goes in-between
Idk what to buy first some konders pond treatment or the ray j norwood log mill
"Popcorn fart dry"!!!!!! Typical Kevin!
I'm not getting notifications, isn't TH-cam grand
Water
you know Sepp Holzer, Austria ?
Drew dirksen stole your thumb nail on his most recent video from the undergroud room
Yep looks oddly familiar...
Maybe you can make a zipline, could be fun.
can we get a treehouse update or expanse? the car tree house
Didn't you set up a shower behind the sauna? Is it somewhere else, or did you just dismantle it? Also, what's the status with everything you built . . . we see the cube and the sphere by the pond, but are they used in anyway? Similarly, the round hut, car in the tree, and the princess castle (which we never saw the completion of)?
I do update videos from time to time... I moved the shower closer to the upper cabin.
7:31 did you say popcorn fart dry?
Yes sir
Typical Kevin! I am adding that to my vocabulary.
Me too
26:20 they look like 😂😂😂😂😂😂
How is the other Don doing?
just a question are you too brothers from thy same dad just wandering
5:43ish finally entertainment. Hope you went to the universal health care emergency for the concussion like when you had those heart issues from doing insulation…
Why pond is green
Why bother? Did Chris run out of other animals on your property? That "road-meat" episode of his worked out well. Has he been checked for worms?
No worms.
Those are the whitest legs I've ever seen. The camera had exposure problems due to the reflections.
Winter is long in Canada
never mind the ''chem-treatment''... the pond needs the right combo of fish and plants to be self-sustainable... everything else is a lazy/dangerous chem-treatment!...
It's not a chemical at all. It's organic.
Why is it I never seem to see anyone using Reed bar instead of expensive threaded rod. Reed bar is a great alternative to threaded rod as it's dirt cheap compared to threaded rod. I've been using it for years ever since a builder friend of mine told me it was threaded. About 10 years ago I bought around 100 lengths of 2.5 metre long and four different thicknesses with half a dozen boxes of the specific nuts to fit. I think I paid the equivalent of around $25 for all of it and still have more than half left. The savings have been insane over the years. I build decks, Tree houses, fences, climbing frames etc for a living in the UK and over the past 10 years ever since starting to use reed bar, I have not had any problems with it wot so ever. 'touch wood' ...Just wanted to pass it on in case it ever helps anyone keep their building cost down. . .
Sounds advice... I got a bundle of threaded rod 10 years ago for free.. that's why I use it.
Googled 'reed bar' but all that came up was rebar! What is reedbar and what is it usually used in?
