Lambert in the Witcher 3. I mean, I don't really wish he were the protagonist in Witcher 3, but after interacting with him, I wish he had a game where he was the protagonist; he was awesome!

Hmm,.....Wow, that's a....that's a damn good suggestion. Kudos, person I don't know. Kudos! 'cuz like pfffft!!, I could spout off a quick list of 'em. I'll tell ya what tho,...instead I'll just give ya a quick summary/example. Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim, Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, GTA 4 (IMO...but that's just me... Vice City is still my personal overall favorite. Large part: the soundtrack), I could go on, but I won't. ....mainly because I can't think of anymore at this particular time....
This is my favorite narrator/commentator/person on TH-cam his charisma and lines are always hilarious and good and then his transitioning into the serious stuff at the end sounds really caring. Doing a great job Jules thanks for the content to make my isolation better.

10 Games that were WAY easier when we were younger. Every "old" gamer has a set of games that he could play blindfolded back in the days. But there comes the day when we replay them for the sake of good old times and realise "I am too old for this game..." Be it the lack of reflexes or the knowledge that those hardcore combos, we flawlessly executed in our youth, will cripple our old fingers forever.
I got a 0’00 on the Chocobo Racing in FFX as a kid. Have tried several times since and haven’t gotten close. An honorable mention also goes to the Lightning Dodger minigame.

Jules, love, please: use the camera's autofocus once before shooting to focus on your face, then switch it off. You don't move that much, if you focus once you should be fine ... and the picture stops breathing like an asthmatic chainsmoker. ;)

The original Donkey Kong mini game and Blasters Mini game from Donkey Kong 64 were particularly annoying preventing you from getting a complete play through as not only did you get golden bananas from completing them but also the rare coins needed for the bonus ending... mind you though you could beat the game without doing these... still annoying though.
I enjoyed the pipe hacking in Bioshock so much, I've been trying to find an decent, non-ad-supported mobile game ever since. It was a wonderful game. I wish I could just have that game, exactly, outside of Bioshock. However, the asteroid shooting in Deadspace is where I quit the game. I never finished it.
For starters it made no sense. Why are you having to route a liquid inside a camera or safe? It happened entirely too much and killed the pace of the game.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX It's most entirely optional. You can destroy any health station, turret or camera you do not wish to hack or just ignore them all together.
Love Blitzball :) there is a little cheat, to make it easier in the story. When you get ahead in points, swim back behind your goal, the enemy team will just start spinning :) hope this helps
One of my favorite games growing up was Brave Fencer Musashi. The one that came with the Final Fantasy demo disk. Well, it had an UNSKIPPABLE dance off boss fight in the middle of an RPG in the last map on the world
I am one of the few people that genuinely enjoy the hacking mini game in Bioshock. I view it as a nice break that requires a different kind of problem solving than the main game.
Yeah, I always liked it. I admit it was disruptive to combat, but that was why I liked it. I would be stressing out in the middle of a fight and see a turret or something to hack. It was a great way to calm down doing a little puzzle.
@@claytonmason174 Yeah, that was the diference between the hacking in bioshock 1 and 2, in 1 you needed the right tonics to hack the hardest and smallest grids like safes, in bioshock 2 if you had a decent reaction time you needed almost no gene tonics and could instead use tonics geared toward combat.
Turok, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman, Castlevania, NFL Blitz, Alex Kidd, Wild Arms, and Primal Rage, these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
buck342443 can go two different ways with Blitz, too! Can do the violent ‘the league’ series if you can’t get an NFL license, OR do the similarly arcade feeling NFL Street
Veryyyy controvertial opinion but... Ciri in Witcher 3. You can only play as her very infrequently, so you go back to feeling like a n00b not having the muscle-memory moves you have with Geralt. Keep trying to Aard people and feeling like an idiot. Plus I cant help but try to loot things or use witcher senses to no avail. I like the variety, and it definitily is fun, but you only get to play as her rarely, so it makes me feel weird, i dont know... haha..
Titzball was uber. You just had to learn the skills for Tidus and hire the best players throughout the game. Get Jhect shot 2 on that simple QTE cutscene on a ship. Jules, thanks for another great Video, cheers from Texas!
I like the challenge of beating blitzball with the original team. When you get the best players it becomes to easy but when your only good character is Tidus it makes it more engaging.
@@fabiomoreira1506 that'd be pretty sick. I get not liking the turn based part of it. Throws off the flow of the game. But with all the different skills and such it'd be hard to make it play like fifa without taking away some of the game elements.
Hey Jules, just with the MGS one - I recall that you can't use a turbo controller for the Ocelot scene. Pretty sure that the game detects if you're trying to turbo and kills you immediately. So there goes that workaround. :-P
You are correct Sir! I tried it with Autofire and thought the controller was broken or something, turned out it wouldn't register as if you had let go of the button but rather a continuous button hold. Apparently the programing didn't believe in SuperHuman Fingering.
It depended on the controller. Ocelot tells you he can tell if you're using turbo, but some of the not-so-popular 3rd party controller's turbo speeds didn't trigger the detection.
Blitzball was amazing! Loved it. When X-2 came out and blitzball was in that, I was so excited however X-2 turned into a bloody mess of a game and so was the blitzball
Blitzball sucked in X-2 it put you more in a management role and no direct input on the game. In X it was more based on being the player far more interactive.
You can tell what lines would normally have been cut, but were kept in because of the... format or something and honestly I'm not complaining. There's something charming about it all.
The nice positive message at the end of the videos is what makes me love this channel so much! Reminds me I am not the only one home alone boring myself to death... thank god for videogames and youtube...

My worst experience is the one in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Mantine Surfing might have been an interesting addition, if not for the fact that you HAVE to do it to go to the next island.
I'm really enjoying many of the videos I've found from you guys. I don't think blitzball meets your requirements though. The first blitz you have to do is tough, but you can lose it without any serious repercussions. In fact, the first match is stacked against you. So I guess you could count it cause you have to play one match, but win or lose the story will continue. As to getting certain things like Wakka's ultimate weapon, all the ultimate weapons were generally hard to get and not required to complete the game. Again, thanks and really enjoying your videos, just a small nitpick on one item.

Titsball! Honestly, I actually enjoyed MOST of the minigames on this list. And most of those I can't say that about are from games I've never played. Guess I'm just a minigame-loving kinda' guy! Frankly, I'll take ANYTHING on the list over the kind of chance-based casino-games you keep running into in RPG's and whatnot. Blackjack, poker, roulette, friggin' slot-machines... and there's almost always SOMETHING, be it something useful or just an achievement or whatever, that you can only get by playing them and doing really well. Skills? I've got skills. But LUCK? Sod off.
@@basicdefaultchannelname Yes, but programming a fair and realistic rendition of either of those games is haaaaaaaard, so mostly you just get video poker and digital blackjack. No spotting tells, no card-counting, just try your luck!
@@BlakeTheDrake Thats true, I didnt think about that because when I play cards IRL I stick to a numbers and odds only style of playing. That said reading tells is a completely valid strategy and that nuance is gone with computer made plays.
Titsball all the way! (Weirdest sentence for a while. ^^) Genuinely loved blitzball, going around Spira and finding the best players for my team to recruit on the side of the main adventure was great fun. Ended up creating the most unbeatable team, loved it. ^^
BlitzBalls - I agree once you get going and sit down to learn it, it's actually kinda fun. It's an absolute kick in the blitz balls to learn the first time you play it. My first playthrough I skipped out on that as best I could. 2nd playthrough I tried learning it and kinda got it then got annoyed by the starting team.
Try this one on for size: 10 funniest characters/dialogue lines or scenes in video games that made us genuinely laugh. I can think of so many. Like remember the time your character gets kidnapped by the Sons of Samedi in saints row and he gets a huge contact buzz in the limo and sees their faces start to change and he starts cracking jokes about “how F’d up their face is”. We all need some humor right now so that’s my suggestion 😂
I think we should get a list for games with a great collection of bosses. Not just one good boss. But the game has an array of great bosses that you cant wait to get your hands on a boss rush.
Blitzballs: as a kid I loved it, but now playing it on the HD remaster it's such a drag. You really only have to play it once to get through the main story which isn't bad and I don't mind, but when you want to get Wakka's ultimate weapon it's just hours and hours of a boring grind
Blitzs. I already wasn't enjoying the game, but was playing because I had played and loved Final Fantasy 1 through 9, yes I imported. But holy balls. Blitzball fucked the game and I turned it off and took the damn game back to the store and got my monies back. I don't even feel nad after going back and watching a playthrough. Squrniz really fucked up Squaresofts franchise. Only recently do they even look playable.

When I was a kid, the flight school in GTA San Andreas drove me absolutely MAD. That was my #1 mini game that I wish I could've skipped to continue the story :D
I actually hated thw Yoga mini game way more. That was the worst part of one of my favorite games of all times. I actually decided to no do a replay because I didnt want to do that one. Only good part of that minigame is that you get to kick the instructor's ass thats making you do it
I definitely agree with the KH Gummi Ship entry. I finally started playing KH for the first time in 2018, and then I got to the first Gummi Ship segment. I stopped playing the game and haven't been back since. I might revisit it if I catch up on my backlog of games and this quarantine is still in effect.
Whats up J, I'm a huge fan of the What Culture Channel and I'd like to see a list of underrated couch Co-Op games. I was a huge fan of Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel and I don't think it got enough credit for being an awesome buddy game.
We all know what the real worst mandatory mini-game is. Danganronpa 2’s “Improved” Hangman’s Gambit. One half is guessing the missing letters of a simple phrase (hence, Hangman’s Gambit). The other half is praying to whichever god will listen that the letters don’t immediately crash into each other and kill you.
Danganronpa was always a lottery in terms of it's minigames. I personally couldn't abide by how utterly boring Psyche Taxi was in v3, but then you'd get a Debate Scrum or Argument Armament and everyone was wonderful once more.
The sound is fine for me. If there are any parts it goes wonky, I’ll mention it here, but that setup seems good. Same with Ash. She was worried when she finally came out of the closet. You guys are doing great, especially considering the circumstances. I’m just happy you guys figured out a way to keep making vids. I still think you should do a video chat quiz session. There was one quiz done like The Weakest Link. Play around with the setup, and if it’s not too difficult and a pain to set up, maybe have a quiz a week? I have an idea that might work. You each have an all time fav game or movie, right? What about making questions for each person based on their personal favourite. Really obscure, unknown by most, only hardcore fans would know. See who knows their game the best. If there’s a tie, have a group of questions about games/movies they should all know. That idea might not work at all. I’m kinda going crazy myself...

As for a puzzle in a game that cant be skipped, Jak 2 Renegade had the gun trials, some proved more difficult than others.
Titzball!!!! I played blitz for hours when I was a suicidal teen and it genuinely helped me cope. Something structured to get through the day. Replayed recently on the remastered edition and loved it just as much.
I personally loved the Gummi-ship mini game, though I will admit that I preferred to use the warp gummi part to instant travel back and forth to worlds that I'd already been to, but as a side quest, in all of the main KH installments, I like to go back and rerun courses to get more and better gummi blocks that allow me to make better gummi ships. I thought it was a very fun minigame. Maybe not necessary from a gameplay perspective, but narratively speaking it made sense how the characters traveled between the separated worlds, at least in the context of the story (though I guess they could have thought of a different way to present this). But again, personally I liked it. And TITSBALL: I also loved Blitzball as well. I actually straight up ruled at this minigame. It wasn't hard to play, it wasn't hard to level your game characters if you could figure out which areas to play at that would allow the easiest gameplay and/but the best/easiest difficult in relation to the the most/best/max experience you would get otherwise relatively, minimizing overall annoying and exhausting "grinding" to a minimum, in which case you could quickly and easily max out your players, especially even with each new additional new one you recruited/gained as you went all (because all you had to do was add them to your team of otherwise high stat players, use them in a few plays to increase their stats, in which they also would gain some experience just for playing in a match, even if they didn't do anything at all, and despite any misplays the low stat player may make, the higher stat players could still dominate and win the game. This would also allow a player to level up one, or two, or even three low stat players to go up against a high stat teen, and still win, based on using the higher stat team members to do so, allowing players to quickly level up their low stat players), and ultimately in the end allowing a player to completely and utterly dominate and decimate any and every team you played in a Blitzball match. (Obviously this only worked in FFX, not FFX-2, because in the latter sequel, manual control was entirely removed, replaced by an only "coaching" and play-calling/rts type controls, which really made the Blitzball mini game in that sequel SUCK).
God of War (cant remember which one): the guitar hero level. What was the point to that? Star Wars: TFU- Yep! The force pull down star destroyer. After 20-30 minutes, it's enough to make anyone quit. Great list as always.

Yeah... i still remember how annoying pulling down that Star Destroyer was in Force Unleashed. The minigame/QTE-part of it was fine, but the repeating onslaught of TIEs that constantly forced you to stop the minigame was beyond frustrating.

I am one of the few people that genuinely enjoy the hacking mini game in Bioshock. I view it as a nice break that requires a different kind of problem solving than the main game.

I also liked the hacking mini game. It did get repetitive but it was still good imo.
Yeah, I always liked it. I admit it was disruptive to combat, but that was why I liked it. I would be stressing out in the middle of a fight and see a turret or something to hack. It was a great way to calm down doing a little puzzle.
@@claytonmason174 Yeah, that was the diference between the hacking in bioshock 1 and 2, in 1 you needed the right tonics to hack the hardest and smallest grids like safes, in bioshock 2 if you had a decent reaction time you needed almost no gene tonics and could instead use tonics geared toward combat.

Veryyyy controvertial opinion but...
Ciri in Witcher 3. You can only play as her very infrequently, so you go back to feeling like a n00b not having the muscle-memory moves you have with Geralt. Keep trying to Aard people and feeling like an idiot.
Plus I cant help but try to loot things or use witcher senses to no avail.
I like the variety, and it definitily is fun, but you only get to play as her rarely, so it makes me feel weird, i dont know... haha..

I like the challenge of beating blitzball with the original team. When you get the best players it becomes to easy but when your only good character is Tidus it makes it more engaging.

Hey Jules, just with the MGS one - I recall that you can't use a turbo controller for the Ocelot scene. Pretty sure that the game detects if you're trying to turbo and kills you immediately. So there goes that workaround. :-P
You are correct Sir! I tried it with Autofire and thought the controller was broken or something, turned out it wouldn't register as if you had let go of the button but rather a continuous button hold. Apparently the programing didn't believe in SuperHuman Fingering.
It depended on the controller. Ocelot tells you he can tell if you're using turbo, but some of the not-so-popular 3rd party controller's turbo speeds didn't trigger the detection.
Blitzball was amazing! Loved it. When X-2 came out and blitzball was in that, I was so excited however X-2 turned into a bloody mess of a game and so was the blitzball
Blitzball sucked in X-2 it put you more in a management role and no direct input on the game. In X it was more based on being the player far more interactive.

I'm really enjoying many of the videos I've found from you guys.
I don't think blitzball meets your requirements though. The first blitz you have to do is tough, but you can lose it without any serious repercussions. In fact, the first match is stacked against you. So I guess you could count it cause you have to play one match, but win or lose the story will continue.
As to getting certain things like Wakka's ultimate weapon, all the ultimate weapons were generally hard to get and not required to complete the game.

Titsball! Honestly, I actually enjoyed MOST of the minigames on this list. And most of those I can't say that about are from games I've never played. Guess I'm just a minigame-loving kinda' guy! Frankly, I'll take ANYTHING on the list over the kind of chance-based casino-games you keep running into in RPG's and whatnot. Blackjack, poker, roulette, friggin' slot-machines... and there's almost always SOMETHING, be it something useful or just an achievement or whatever, that you can only get by playing them and doing really well. Skills? I've got skills. But LUCK? Sod off.
Your point in spot on, but poker and blackjack have enough skill involved to be pretty winnable as long as the game mechanics are fair.
@@basicdefaultchannelname Yes, but programming a fair and realistic rendition of either of those games is haaaaaaaard, so mostly you just get video poker and digital blackjack. No spotting tells, no card-counting, just try your luck!
@@BlakeTheDrake Thats true, I didnt think about that because when I play cards IRL I stick to a numbers and odds only style of playing. That said reading tells is a completely valid strategy and that nuance is gone with computer made plays.

Genuinely loved blitzball, going around Spira and finding the best players for my team to recruit on the side of the main adventure was great fun. Ended up creating the most unbeatable team, loved it. ^^
BlitzBalls - I agree once you get going and sit down to learn it, it's actually kinda fun. It's an absolute kick in the blitz balls to learn the first time you play it. My first playthrough I skipped out on that as best I could. 2nd playthrough I tried learning it and kinda got it then got annoyed by the starting team.

Try this one on for size: 10 funniest characters/dialogue lines or scenes in video games that made us genuinely laugh. I can think of so many. Like remember the time your character gets kidnapped by the Sons of Samedi in saints row and he gets a huge contact buzz in the limo and sees their faces start to change and he starts cracking jokes about “how F’d up their face is”. We all need some humor right now so that’s my suggestion 😂
I think we should get a list for games with a great collection of bosses. Not just one good boss. But the game has an array of great bosses that you cant wait to get your hands on a boss rush.
Blitzballs: as a kid I loved it, but now playing it on the HD remaster it's such a drag. You really only have to play it once to get through the main story which isn't bad and I don't mind, but when you want to get Wakka's ultimate weapon it's just hours and hours of a boring grind
Blitzs. I already wasn't enjoying the game, but was playing because I had played and loved Final Fantasy 1 through 9, yes I imported. But holy balls. Blitzball fucked the game and I turned it off and took the damn game back to the store and got my monies back. I don't even feel nad after going back and watching a playthrough. Squrniz really fucked up Squaresofts franchise. Only recently do they even look playable.

@@soulkarver956 Let's be real, Gwent was the main story. Eredin was after Ciri so he could use her to get access to the best Gwent cards. Everything Geralt did was based on it, such as getting involved in the Baron's story so he could play him in cards.
The only time it really forced you to play it was when that guy takes over your body in Heart of stone.

When I was a kid, the flight school in GTA San Andreas drove me absolutely MAD. That was my #1 mini game that I wish I could've skipped to continue the story :D
I actually hated thw Yoga mini game way more. That was the worst part of one of my favorite games of all times. I actually decided to no do a replay because I didnt want to do that one. Only good part of that minigame is that you get to kick the instructor's ass thats making you do it

I definitely agree with the KH Gummi Ship entry. I finally started playing KH for the first time in 2018, and then I got to the first Gummi Ship segment. I stopped playing the game and haven't been back since. I might revisit it if I catch up on my backlog of games and this quarantine is still in effect.

We all know what the real worst mandatory mini-game is.
Danganronpa 2’s “Improved” Hangman’s Gambit. One half is guessing the missing letters of a simple phrase (hence, Hangman’s Gambit). The other half is praying to whichever god will listen that the letters don’t immediately crash into each other and kill you.
Danganronpa was always a lottery in terms of it's minigames. I personally couldn't abide by how utterly boring Psyche Taxi was in v3, but then you'd get a Debate Scrum or Argument Armament and everyone was wonderful once more.

The sound is fine for me. If there are any parts it goes wonky, I’ll mention it here, but that setup seems good. Same with Ash. She was worried when she finally came out of the closet. You guys are doing great, especially considering the circumstances. I’m just happy you guys figured out a way to keep making vids. I still think you should do a video chat quiz session. There was one quiz done like The Weakest Link. Play around with the setup, and if it’s not too difficult and a pain to set up, maybe have a quiz a week?
I have an idea that might work. You each have an all time fav game or movie, right? What about making questions for each person based on their personal favourite. Really obscure, unknown by most, only hardcore fans would know. See who knows their game the best. If there’s a tie, have a group of questions about games/movies they should all know.
That idea might not work at all. I’m kinda going crazy myself...

Titzball!!!! I played blitz for hours when I was a suicidal teen and it genuinely helped me cope. Something structured to get through the day. Replayed recently on the remastered edition and loved it just as much.

I personally loved the Gummi-ship mini game, though I will admit that I preferred to use the warp gummi part to instant travel back and forth to worlds that I'd already been to, but as a side quest, in all of the main KH installments, I like to go back and rerun courses to get more and better gummi blocks that allow me to make better gummi ships. I thought it was a very fun minigame. Maybe not necessary from a gameplay perspective, but narratively speaking it made sense how the characters traveled between the separated worlds, at least in the context of the story (though I guess they could have thought of a different way to present this). But again, personally I liked it.
And TITSBALL: I also loved Blitzball as well. I actually straight up ruled at this minigame. It wasn't hard to play, it wasn't hard to level your game characters if you could figure out which areas to play at that would allow the easiest gameplay and/but the best/easiest difficult in relation to the the most/best/max experience you would get otherwise relatively, minimizing overall annoying and exhausting "grinding" to a minimum, in which case you could quickly and easily max out your players, especially even with each new additional new one you recruited/gained as you went all (because all you had to do was add them to your team of otherwise high stat players, use them in a few plays to increase their stats, in which they also would gain some experience just for playing in a match, even if they didn't do anything at all, and despite any misplays the low stat player may make, the higher stat players could still dominate and win the game. This would also allow a player to level up one, or two, or even three low stat players to go up against a high stat teen, and still win, based on using the higher stat team members to do so, allowing players to quickly level up their low stat players), and ultimately in the end allowing a player to completely and utterly dominate and decimate any and every team you played in a Blitzball match.
(Obviously this only worked in FFX, not FFX-2, because in the latter sequel, manual control was entirely removed, replaced by an only "coaching" and play-calling/rts type controls, which really made the Blitzball mini game in that sequel SUCK).
God of War (cant remember which one): the guitar hero level. What was the point to that? Star Wars: TFU- Yep! The force pull down star destroyer. After 20-30 minutes, it's enough to make anyone quit. Great list as always.

Yeah... i still remember how annoying pulling down that Star Destroyer was in Force Unleashed. The minigame/QTE-part of it was fine, but the repeating onslaught of TIEs that constantly forced you to stop the minigame was beyond frustrating.
