    The reason that most people say "Oh, my HID/LED bulbs are way brighter!" is because the reflectors often throw the beam right out in front of the car, instead of further down the road where it needs to be. So you think it's brighter and you're seeing better, but the reality is that only the immediate area is brighter, and in fact, because your immediate area is brighter, your dark vision is also lower, so you're seeing considerably less than normal.

      Guarantee my Lexus CT200h halogen low beams would out distance any of these. No, I don't know how. They seem 25-50% better than my Lincoln MKZ with fancy D3S adaptive LED headlights in distance but not as good on the sides obviously.

      @2W3X4YZ5 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Saabkyle04 Thanks. I love it. Im tired of these manufacturers’ reluctance to switch to full LED. Its almost like rear fog lights. They let us have them for a while, then disable or delete them. Id go ahead and try them in the interior. The lens on the overhead on the Jimmy may have yellowed with age enough to give it a warmer glow. Heres a link for warm white LED bulbs from where I buy most of mine from.

    High quality led lights will last. Most people just buy cheap ones and say “leds are junk” buy quality bulbs

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very true

    • @stinkycheese804
      @stinkycheese804 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Define last. Mostly I just see people claiming when they first installed them that they "should" last, the same way people have said CFL bulbs "should" last but didn't, and that LED household bulbs "should" last but didn't either.
      The truth is that you have no idea if they will last until you've had them long term and the design has stayed the same so you have the opportunity to buy the same thing again. If you want to trust the warranty period, that's great if it's a reputable company that's still around, and if you can wait to drive your vehicle at night until they make good on the warranty.
      Then again you could always switch back to your old bulbs and housings but that is a hassle.

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stinky Cheese if he was smart enough to realize that, he’d be smart enough to know LEDs are a terrible choice for headlights.

    • @ghoulbuster1
      @ghoulbuster1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of the most noticeable upgrades I have done on my trucks is putting in the brightest LED reverse lights I can find. Its amazing how much better you can see when backing out of driveways and parking spots at night with a bright pure white light.
    Also, the worst upgrade I did was put LED lights in the interior. I would open my truck door in the morning to go to work before the sun was up, and it was like someone turned on the sun inside my truck and was way too bright. Went back to regular for the dome light and left the map lights LED.

    Personally I sanded my headlights and re-coated them with clear coat paint and purchased an LED conversion kit for my lights on my Trailblazer for only $18. They work great and installing them was very simple. So I would say LED upgrades for headlights are a worthy upgrade. It is easier to see signs on the sides of roadways and you can see 5X farther than with normal headlights so it’s pretty awesome! Great video man

    good video on '' how to '' , but i like the original best. reasons are :
    1.) glass out performs plastic
    2.) you do not have to worry about the glass getting dingy after 1 year of road use
    3.) with glass all you have to do to keep it clean is water and a towel
    4.) with the sealed beam the atmosphere gets excited and has more of a glow to it and makes things look real
    5.) you can see farther and better with glass sealed beam head lights.
    lol, you had to use ultra brights to over mask the sealed beam . . . sealed beam is better
    as for the rest of the bulbs , it is a shame that the replacements had to be ultra brights to out do the glass bulbs... to me the look of the before and after on the park lights , the before is brighter.
    i could not tell if the parklight leds were on or not. . . even with the shop lights on...at least with the glass bulbs i could tell that they were on .
    not showing any dislike on your channel, i just think that glass bulbs are a better choice.

    LED's are a stupid invention. Ok, you may be able to see more road, but you are blinding all other road users so that they can't see the road. I'm sure most roads are well lit enough not to have LED lights in them. I'm from the UK and am fed up of morons driving about with LED lights on during the day, and at night, dazzling and blinding other road users. They should be banned.

    • @ConnecticutDashcam
      @ConnecticutDashcam 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jonny Davies what you’re referring to are the plug and play led headlight bulbs that people put in stock housings. 90% of the ones on the market are cheaply designed and create terrible glare. Most people choose these because they are cheap and that’s why you get blinded. If you use a purposely designed bulb that’s of a higher quality this won’t occur

      I've seen this with even brand new cars, most new cars seem to have the lights adjusted so they shine way down on the road rather than ahead to alleviate the blinding issue which negates 99% of the point of having headlights.
      While LEDs work great for saving power, in cars they really do need to have a Lumen limit ESPECIALLY on fucking copcars.

    It's funny, the 3rd brake light on my car switched to LED for the last 2 years it was made, so while the regular bulbs are halogen and take a few milliseconds to turn on the the factory 3rd brake light turns on instantly.
    I also happen to like the LED brake lights that strobe a white light once when the brake light comes on, I feel like this is a pretty neat upgrade especially if you have an older vehicle where you're afraid the brake lights aren't up to par.

I'd have used LED headlights, but quality ones weren't available then. And used a Whelen TIR3 emergency warning light module as a the third eye brake light. Very bright. I recall using an adapter module so it wouldn't flash if the turn signal was on.

    Kyle do you notice a difference in FM/AM radio reception since changing to LED headlights? I just put new LED bulbs in my 2018 Colorado Z71 and the output is a lot better than the halogens, but they're causing quite a bit of radio interference. Apparently this is common with LED headlight upgrades. I ordered some ferrite clips to install on the wiring hopefully that helps. Anyways, I'm curious if you've run in to this problem, if so you might want to look into the ferrite clips. Love the video, and the rest of the Jimmy series!

    Load resistor is hard to wire, get really hot and not very efficiency, which is opposite of why going for LED.

    I put some HID's in my car last year and I was not aware of this until it happened to me but HID'S they have there own ballists with them and some lil sub harnesses depending on what vehicle you have. That part I knew , what I didn't know was a lot of cars do not have enough juice in the factory headlight harness to run the HID's. They take no power when they are on but it's a substantial draw at first to turn them on. They sell relay harnesses with the kits but depending on the car it can get up there in cost for the HIDs so LED may be better for some because of that reason there. My car a 2006 Buick Lucerne needed the harness but I wired up my own on a relay and used the factory lamp plugs as the switched 12 volt so they work as if they were factory just much much brighter!! Just thought I'd share, sorry for it being so long :/
