All us old UK vintage 1977 punks recognise this as a Gang of Four thesis articulated by The Cortinas from Bristol, sent via a time tunnel to modern day New York. Respect.
the most interesting, intelligent, energized, evolving, and influential band in America. I saw them a few weeks ago and I wish they played this song over and over
I saw them the first night of the tour in Boston and I knew they'd be opening with this, so of course that was when a very zealous security guard gave me a 5-minute bag check right as they were starting, but I made it in for the second half of the track!! So fucking good, gotta see em again ASAP
They played at the Royale which is kind of a fucking weird venue - that huge nightclub place in the Theater District - but overall it was solid. These dudes are loud AF - and I love it!
If they're evolving then why does every video related to them on TH-cam have dozens of comments along the lines of "I'm getting Wire/Gang of Four/etc vibes" and people pointing out that this stuff reminds them of older music?
Dear newfound Parquet Courts: thank you from the innermost squirming portions of my anatomy for reminding me that I'm alive. I had forgotten. it was total football. Appreciated.
This is my favorite song rn. I keep playing it on repeat and I shared it with all of my friends. this song is perfect in every way! I can't help but dancing. I'd love to see these guys live .
Just saw this band live last night. Truly special band. They’re doing something new and great for rock music. They know to perform a good show and write amazing music. I can’t wait to see how much this band improves next
Sorry Americans, but this song isn't about American Football, ''Total Football'' is the name of a series of tactics used by the Netherlands national football (soccer) team. This tactics are strongly related to teamwork and cooperation, and that's the meaning of the lyrics.
Maaan It only happens when I know im inloved with the band, I listened one song yesterday and daaamn Ive already heard all of your albums what a band!!! Hope you come someday to Argentina!
I'm mad it took me so long to actually listen to this album. Damn! Absolutely blown away by the lyrics and it seems they have refined their song writing too and upped the sound quality which is never necessary but always welcomed. All around a great song and album. Stay woke and stay humble y'all. Peace n love.

Teresa Lana seriously. That was one of the first things that came to mind when they start sing in unison. for some reason it reminded me a lot of Devo. I’m glad someone else feels the same.
there's nothing more collectivist than actual football (not that north-american thing which you might play with your hands) well done fellas, you proved yourself right
Is this a track from 1979 that has been dug up from the vaults and retrospectively released or is it a track that sounds like it was made in 1979 and released? Confused.
When Parquet Courts said “Fuck Tom Brady” I feel that
Also with Next song its called Freebird II
Sean’s bass line is nuts
Andrew wrote all of them from guitar lines.
@@Dom213 For some reason that makes it even better for me. Who says bass and guitar are mutually exclusive ways to play!?
@@Dom213 did NOT know this wtf
@Vincent H. I couldn't tell you, man, as I'm not much of a musician lol. I just remember reading about it before the album came out.
You can hear it?
This is one of the greatest bands right now
Diego Garcia Lopez Parquet Courts and Tame Impala are the most talented bands alive
Hell yeah the whole album is solid
Oh Hi Mark Puto flipado

Probably one of my favorite examples of extended metaphor. It’s so simple yet gets the point across.
I'm jealous of you for being able put "extended metaphor" into a sentence!
You're my punk now
Said in Papa Lazarous' voice obviously
It is not a song.
This is an essay with killer tunes.
A+ in my gradebook
Violence too

I’m not native English, what this song is about ?
I like this song but "an essay with killer tunes" is not a good thing for a song to be

Nicely said, John Murray.
@pykkervots Others have said Wire as well, particularly the bass parts.
There's a bit of The Fall in there too
Ahem, Minutemen anyone?
Bands like this make me believe there will always be great music in this world.
