“Kind ears captive to the beers you’ve purchased”
What a brilliant lyric
The artistry of the "yeah" down the phone is top notch.
I love everything about this song. That chord progression, that silly bassline at the verse. But god, words cannot express how much i love the lyrics. If this song were a woman i would absolutly be afraid to talk to her.
I own a hard wood flooring company and I have just realised that Parquet Courts are my new favourite band. The irony of it is that often times I hate parquet flooring but ultimately I love them as I do this amazing band.
I owned a hardwood flooring company for 25 years . Retired now . And yes love this band . Hated parquet because it was such a pain in the ass to install
are you hiring ?
I own a consumer packaged goods company and I have just realized that Parkay Quarts is my new favorite band. The irony of it is often times I hate oil-based butter substitutes but I ultimately love them as I do this amazing band.
great band! always
"nothing lasts but everything lingers"
S'true.
A. Savage lyrics always seem to hit soft targets i didn't know i had
“Feels so effortless to be a stranger but feeling foreign is such a lonely habit” describes exactly how I felt for the first 3 years after my family moved to a new state. God I wish this song was out when we moved here
Parquet Courts are very underrated
luckily
@Annoying Jerk Ah fuck off. Music elitists are scum.
very very underrated
hey, more for us right? 😎
I think they’re pretty rated too. At least where I live here in Australia
Cheers
Nice song Thomas Müller
+1 Deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft reference
Hahahahaha
Ur thinking of Munich got blurry this is a cover
But can he do it on a cold night at Schalke 04?
What a great song. His mouth looks exactly how he sings!
what an oddly true thing to say
I wish I were in Berlin now.
One of the greatest basslines I have ever heard
Love the spaghetti western breaks.:)
It's not Spaghetti Western. It's just plain Western.
@@nicolasviaje7159 no, it's spaghetti western, grew up on those thanks to my pops
This is their best song yet damn
this is one of the best songs i've heard in a long time
Great memories there. Berlin in my heart forever. ❤
love the motown style bass playing going on in this track
I think i'll start cutting my hair with a bowl again.
Met Andrew Savage after a gig last October. Asked him whether he'd seen more black guys at his shows, must have been the single most stupid thing I have ever asked someone and I can't apologize for it.
what did he answer
where did you seem him maybe I can tell him you're sorry tomorrow when I see them in Toronto
badlilgothbih aka vampyeflowz lvgosi I’m fuckinCrying hjskskskskskslsk
Doesn't seem wholly unlegitimate - I guess it's as much in how one asks.
I went to hs with him :) this song is awesome
60 dislikes? Damn. What do people want from this band? This is a great song.
Haha. Every good song on TH-cam has at least one comment bemoaning the dislikes. Whaddaya say? I think that there are some miserable people who surf TH-cam endlessly just to downvote everything they see.
@@cartermilan people said that about Dylan too
@@cartermilan what a peaceful ending
Tom Brady fans
What a great song
I went to the Nelsonville Festival near Athens Ohio to see Connor Oberst with my sister. After the show, I stumbled(literally) back to my hotel room and I met these guys. Great dudes and the best band I heard at the festival. Thanks for the cool experience guys!
such a fucking rad song
These guys are freakin AWESOME....They sound like Elvis Costello and Squeeze got together and had a baby...
Damn... that bass ⚡️😍⚡️
YESSS
Love Parquet Courts and love this tune
LIked this from the first second
The new album is going to be tremendous! Great tune fellas.
and it was. my god it was a tremendous album
@@burrito270 what do you think of their latest album? I like most of it
@@landcruiserfan4206 i loooove wide awake. I was obsessed with it over this past summer when I discovered it
@@burrito270 Same here!!! so many gems on it. Im keen as a bean for their next album

Amazing lyrics!
AOTY
Instantly fell in love with this one
Clash, The Specials, Violent Femmes.....Parquet Courts are a throwback band in the best way......
i love this song
Yes! So happy I got the preorder, April come sooner!
fantastic
this song is so groovy ahh CAN'T WAIT to see y'all at Bonnaroo!
These guys just keep on impressing me. Really hope, and inclined to believe, that more great music is to co.e from them.
My homie reminded me the other day that I wouldn’t shut up about this song the year before I moved to Berlin. Here now, and it’s quite something to play this tune on late nights on the trams, up and down the straßes 🥲
My favorite song of 2016
My hometown! Great song, great city.
the entire album its crazy, and well done.
this is some real drinkin music /
That's just wow
Welcome back, gents. Looking forward to the full album.
pre ordered
Great band
😍😍😍😍 My favorite song of 2016
Excelent!!!
yeah!
Approximating perfection
You killed it on this one!
Dancing Bass! 💃🏻
Good tune
I love Andrew's face
You can really tell Savage has an affinity for David Berman. Both the song and video are very Silver Jews-y
Spoon. Woah I have never thought of that band when I heard Parquet Courts till this song.
i live in Berlin since 12 years. cool song. goof band.
into it. into savage for so many reasons.
NICE!
suena en radio doble nueve Lima, Peru
It sounds so different to the early tunes, but still great! it's fantastic to not -doitallthesame- . Congrats! Will you fellas come someday to Buenos Aires Argentina?
I discovered this band on Courtney Barnett radio this band is amazing then I found primus also amazing Jesus Christ I’m finding the most amazing performers ever
This video is actually pretty damn good
I love savage
Хорошая песня!
[Verse 1]
Döner wrapper done right, an extinguished
Crotch of a rollie inside yellow fingers
Nothing lasts but nearly everything lingers in life
Cellphone service is not that expensive
But that takes commitment and you just don't have it
It feels so effortless to be a stranger
But feeling foreign is such a lonely habit
[Bridge 1]
You can't crop yourself out of a picture
You're out of focus but still framed inside
[Chorus 1]
Well Berlin got blurry
And my heart started hurting for you
[Verse 2]
Loud mouth living got you some attention
And second chances given without doubt
'Guess you've got a history but it's not worth a mention tonight
Kind ears captive to the beers you've purchased
Sipping through scenes of plastered confession
Telling pretty stories, is it your sole purpose?
Telling everybody that you learned your lesson
[Bridge 2]
But no one's falling for that nice guy bullshit
They waited years, you can wait one night
[Chorus 2]
Well Berlin got blurry
When my eyes started telling it to
[Verse 3]
Funny how it charms you, that Teutonic frankness
Listen and it arms you with a new type of patience
Maybe it alarms you because it tastes so familiar and wild
French fries, hot dog, ketchup, main ingredients
Swears in flawless English it's the best in town
Funny how a sameness can not be distinguished
Strangeness is relieving when you point it out
[Bridge 3]
But email, poems, slogans an example
Of three things I can't unify
[Chorus 3]
Well Berlin got blurry
As my thoughts all hurried to you
This one sounds a lot like the Clash (particularly the vocals.)
Yes, The Clash is who they sound like.I could not quite figure it out..Awesome🎶💗
On Freebird ii I think that the singer sounds like early Elvis Costello.
Please, come back to Chile ❤
Great song fellas! Has that timeless feel to it. Not quite sure why but the energy and vibe of this song reminds me a ton of Minor Threat's "Good Guys (dont wear white)". I believe that is nothing but a good thing. Cannot wait to hear the new album. Parquet Court's songwriting gets better and better!
danke schon
La escucho desde chile 🇨🇱 la mejor canción ❤️
2021
Very Elvis Costello.
+usandthem72 Also reminds me early Squeeze
+usandthem72 good insight
Hearing it on mix, thought it was the Jam until the cell phone reference.
Actually, i hear more Graham Parker
Yah, I agree there is a lot of Costello influence without being a rip-off. I really like the stuff I've heard from these guys.
These guys have just cracked the U.K
100% I love em
coool mate :D heh
esta muy bonito el video jodr
Cool
It's already hard to envision a better rock album this year. At least, the two official releases have set a lofty bar. I haven't heard such upbeat music from A. Savage since Fergus & Geronimo and Teenage Cool Kids' first two records (which I urge anyone who hasn't to check out), even though the subject matter might not be so joyous, tongue in cheek implications aside!
+Zakaria Meddings Savages album was strong, Tacocat has an album out that's great too.
+Zakaria Meddings Denton after sunset if one of my favourite albums of all time. teenage cool kids were immense.
The opening riff (and the same riff scattered throughout) reminds me of Kids in the Hall
Yorkstraße!
its catchy
It s a kind of magic....
The gyro thing made me laugh for some reason, like he thought it would make him happier than it did
Got here because of the Nelsonville Music Festival, got there because of Ween. Anyways, I am really looking forward to seeing this band. I think they are really good!
Somebody likes The Clash of a whole lot. And they're absolutely right to.
funny how it charms you that teutonic frankness is some lyrical wit I've never seen
raw clash
really fucking good
so much like the Clash it's criminal. Damn good song.
These guys like to just shit out albums constantly, in a good way.
+Al Shneebly ehhehe
+Al Windsor yup. the stine roses they are not
+Al Windsor *crap themselves out
That chicken shop near kreuzberg park is so so good
The pizza across Hasenheide park is much better...😋damn, it is the best !!!😁
What is Elvis Costello and the Clash and Squeeze made a record??? It would be awesome!!
+pauliefromphilly im really hearing the squeeze in this man
Quite a strange song yet it has a certain charm!
Reminds me some Paul Weller's songs from "The jam" era.
My favorite Parquet Courts song. Sad because the rest of the band isn’t in this video.
Suena en Radio Doble 9!
Here in 2022. Heard them on Catfish the Tv show. Any new music?
