    Caesar salad was invented by the chef-owner of an Italian restaurant called Cardini’s. Yes, it is located in Tijuana. It was popular during Prohibition. The owner was an Italian immigrant to Mexico, Caesar Cardini.

    As an Italian - born and raised - I appreciate how this video was made, explaining the reasoning behind the "rules" so to make more sense of them. Interesting and creative, in that sense.

      Exactly why I bothered even watching this. The only disgrace I actually have here is that you got to budget and prepare for up to nine courses of meals. I don't see why no mentions of half/micro courses. They do exists and I believe it's something that could be explored. For those of us who can't pay or even EAT the whole up to nine courses. Even at a conservatively $25 a plate. We are talking well over TWO HUNDERDS dollars before drinks and tips?!

    I think the "bread rules" mentioned here is interesting but there are regional considerations. Where I traveled, I often had fresh bread served with olive oil, cracked pepper, and slices of cheese. Yum!

    I'm of Sicilian heritage, and a pretty decent cook... I can't answer your pinned question on account I gave up going to Italian Restaurants (at least here in the US) because, well, I do it better myself... Way better!

  • @josephwest124

    I'm guessing the main reason for the many "courses" in a traditional Italian diner and dining experience would be that the servings are far smaller than what we'd expect in a US restaurant (Italian or otherwise) where we're so used to "supersizing" virtually everything.

    • @petersmith2040
      @petersmith2040 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree. Also, another reason for the many “courses” in a traditional Italian restaurant is that a proper meal can last up to 2 hours, or sometimes 2 hours and 30 minutes. Dining at a traditional Italian restaurant is all about bonding and building of relationship with your dining companions instead of eating as quickly as possible and leaving the place because you have other more important things to do.

    • @rickytorres9089
      @rickytorres9089 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@petersmith2040 I get that but there are valid grounds for being at opposition of such. At current entree prices even very conservatively we are still talking OVER two hundreds dollars. That's before even drinks and tips and obviously that would tack on much more money to that.

    From England to France to Spain to Italy, coffee is the final dish of a meal. And you drink only one cup. And that is true in Latin American culture as well. In a Mexican restaurant recently I ordered three refills and got charged for four cups of coffee.
    The video didn't mention the use of anisette or zambucco to help with digestion. I'm not clear if or when that would occur when dining at a restaurant. At home we would have liquors after a big meal after having left the table and moved to comfy chairs and couches. You can't beat liquors for relieving that bloated feeling after a heavy Italian meal.

    • @rickytorres9089
      @rickytorres9089 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is why you always ask. Here in the US, anything that comes out the foundation is either VERY minimal charges or free. But still, you should ask if the menus doesn't state.

    I’m so sick of people telling people what and how they should eat. I could give a rats ass how somebody from Italy chooses to eat their food when they’re visiting the US. You want to dip pancake in ketchup? Go for it. Want to drink coffee for dinner? Who cares. Want to put butter in your celery, enjoy. Do whatever the hell you want, as long as you’re otherwise sanitary and polite.
