47 years ago...I built a small log cabin and did my version of this in the mountains of Montana. I couldn't recommend it for everyone, but the experience was one of the best gifts I've ever given myself. Looking forward to the movie.

It is said that in order to get closer to God or Spirit, whatever you choose to call it that you have to go back to nature. I'm curious as to how your experience changed you spiritually, if it changed you spiritually.

@@Tdr-jv2nc I get you! Thank God your waking up!!!!! That kind of life is not meant for humans who care. It is only for those who thrive on greed, maliciousness, and micromanaging. Its been 7 years since I've had a fulltime job in medical corporate. I didn't know then that I'd be happier in the future, by leaving all this behind. When you change your lifestyle approach, there's humoungous adjustments; I don't have the same friends, cut ties with certain family members, and let go of alot of things. Most important, put your desire to change, into action, regardless of protests from others. Fear is the biggest obstacle placed before us. I learned, sometimes hard, that fear is not a person, thing, or system. Simply an obstacle inside me that i can overcome, or work with, or tackle to the ground. It all depends on the situation. I'm finally learning what real contentment is. My person is more solid, tested with some proud scars to bear. I am happy!!! I pray to my God Jehovah that you can find the courage to change! There is life outside the career world! Take thought and God bless!!!

This movie impacted me in a way that I didn't expect. After it was over I cried a deep down cry of grief... I didn't know what was wrong with me why I didn't want to be around people and I just wanted to be left alone I figured it was just because I may be a little depressed. But now I know that it is me grieving... I have had a whole lot of loss in my life since I was born into this world. People always admired my strength and courage but it is a mask that I have put on . I sometimes would wake up in the middle of the night And sit and rock myself and cry. But now I know that I need to grbeef to be sad about bad things happening in your life. When I was young Some people used to say that I Where rose Colored glasses and that My head was up in the clouds... Well now I am 63 years old and I'm just now dealing with grief. I also have always dreamed of living off the grid alone in the mountains and to study wolves but I wasn't a gas explosion in 1985 and was paralyzed. So that dream is shattered. Another reason I loved this movie cause I loved off the grid living idea.

Living in the wild isn't the idyllic dream that city people think it is. It's survival, you have to plan and know nature, you're constantly fighting to get enough food, enough wood for winter, then something happens and you can lose it all. You're much more likely to end up like Chris McCandless of Into the wild.

Every step is a calculated step. You go in with a foundation of knowledge before making a decision to live like this. There be no one to pick you up and dust you off. This is Hollywood. Pure and simple. Living a life like this has no days off or I’ll do it tomorrow. Every day counts to help you survive,to eat, to have warmth and to start again the next day. I can only imagine folks pressing the rescue button on their GSP when it gets really challenging.

Watched this film last night, in all honesty, really pulled my strings, just you could really feel the hurt of the lady after her loss, and then the guy at the end, that was just heart breaking. The thing is, there really are people like this, suffering in our World, with similar circumstance, so you start to think, well, what would I do in that situation. Very lonely, difficult situation for those in real life that suffer a similar circumstance.
I am not into weepy movies, and this film was just randomly on last night. But somehow, I could really relate to the loss, even though I have not had such losses like the lady in the film had, just could feel it, how it might actually feel like.
Really good film, that just made me think.

If you like this movie, I highly recommend the book Voice of the Heart by Chip Dodd. I did a group study of the book right before watching the movie and it struck me how well they go together. The point of the book is that feelings like saddness, lonliness, anger and guilt are all gifts, but there is a good side and an impaired side to each feeling. In general, if a feeling is leading you to isolate yourself from other people, then it's probably an impaired, unhealthy side of that feeling. There's nothing wrong with feeling hurt, sad or angry. In fact, we should embrace those feelings in ways that support healthy relationships, which means being open about what feelings we have. This movie is a beautiful example of someone's journey from the impaired side of those feelings to the gift those feelings bring.

    Robin Wright is excellent.
This is her movie and her performance shines.
It took me back to the movie Wild with Reese Witherspoon.
Gorgeous nature vistas and is a decent journey of re-discovering one's self meaning and purpose.
Nobody has to be completely alone, it might take 1 other person to have us wake up and be alive again for those we lost. I actually did enjoy this a lot better than Nomadland, emotionally sweeping score, and I got a bit teary eyed at the end.

'how did you find me?' 'you were in my path' ...I love that line...also Robin Wright has come SUCH a long way as an actress and now she's a director too, the trailer is magnificent, I REALLY hope the film is too..I need a good film and by good I mean honest and beautiful and this looks like it'll be both, the story looks great...

I generally avoid this film genre, but I have a feeling that Ms. Wright has a winner here. I like her acting very much, and will watch this film when it becomes available through one of the streaming services I subscribe to. That is the best compliment that I can offer, and I wish Ms. Wright every success in her future projects.

When you live in a place that can have large snow build up, you do have a door that swings inward, otherwise you get trapped. Most homes in cold weather places have a double door entryway. Though, this is the "Rockies" and I am from Alaska, so maybe things are different there.

I watched this film this week and what a wonderful film it is. I took care of my mother for 20 years and since she passed away I have prayed many times to join her. I often wonder why life is so hard and why many people are so nasty? The only thing that has kept me going in my many moments of despair is my dog Oscar.
