- Hurricanes are just made up of clouds and wind moving in a certain pattern…so could we use a nuclear weapon to disrupt that wind enough to stop them?

Some one should make a Sci-fi Story were A Earth Dimension actually Nukes Hurricanes. Maybe like Hitlers Germany if they won. Or Like the Russia Nation in history that doesn't care about Lives very much. So when they have World Power. They decided to Nuke all Hurricanes. this may be an interesting story Plot or story element/lore.

We all know that it's a terrible idea. We want to know exactly *why* and this video gave a good amount of context for how much more powerful hurricanes are compared to nuclear bombs.
Well, yes, you can look at this and think "I have a bad feeling about this" but exactly WHY is it a terrible idea? That's the point here. I mean, it makes sense to look for things that could disrupt that kind of storm, and nukes are the biggest disruption we have. The problem is just that it's not a big enough disruption, and far too radioactive to be safe.

I didn't know this- I mean I also never once thought of trying to blow up a storm- but thinking about how devastating a nuclear explosion is, I never would have thought a hurricane was so much more powerful. Nature is amazing.
And the president of the United States has suggested just this very idiotic idea!

Minhchau Nguyen that was actually once attempted, and obviously intended to be counter engineered into a tsunami creator for the military, but the problem is that it is incredibly difficult to create an explosive that can equally create a wall of tsunami in the same direction, as opposed to a normal omnidirectional explosive, and even then, the amount of energy that can be imparted by most known explosive substances cannot release enough total energy into the surrounding water to have a lasting effect on anything larger than a paddle pool.
The fish would still die from the shockwave though; since water is mostly non-compressible, at least on small timescales.

This may sound crazy but in 1970 we had hurricane Celia. I was living in Corpus Christi at the time.
The wind blows about 40 miles per hour there most of the time and if the wind get up to 70~90 miles per hour that wouldn't be much different.
I remember the company let us go home at 12:00 noon. I drove down Ocean Drive to my cousin's house to ride out the storm. I remember seeing some white caps on the water but nothing looked any different than any other day. The weather department said it would hit about 4:00PM.
I also heard on the AM radio that the weather department was going to drop silver iodide crystals in the storm in hopes to make it rain out or kill the hurricane.
Between 12:00 to 4:30 all hell broke out. The wind gust got up to 160 MPH. It blew the water tower down in Portland, TX and blew the weather equipment at one of the refinery. Their last reading was 165 mph.
Not another word was said about the weather bureau trying to kill that storm. About 10 years later when I moved to Houston I talked to another ham radio operator that lived in Corpus at that time and heard the same story. Since then I have heard another person verifying the same thing.
Too bad most Trump supporters didn't even graduate highschool so this video would not make sense to them anyway
