- Storm has given fighting game fans plenty of reasons to be excited about collecting again but some are starting to fatigue from repaints. Can a new ninja be the cure to that situation or will buyers just stick with the original release?

The dopey teeth mask comes from the Ultimate MK 3 character select screen. Scorpion sort of had three different masks in that game: the John Tobias art you showed (which isn't in the actual game), the generic mask with the lines on it (which all the ninjas wear during the actual game), and the character select screen with the weird teeth.
The Tobias art is also a little too dark. In game, it's more of a flat yellow.
MK4 is when we get the actual tobias art style mask for Scorpion with some variation on the costume itself. wouldve definitely been a better inclusion than this awful character select mask.
The unfortunate part is that the teeth mask in the character screens for Scorpion looks much cooler. The figure doesn't capture it even remotely well.

The skull mask was on his portrait on the character select menu in all versions of MK3
The other mask is from his character select portrait in UMK3 showing off some of his demonic side.

I actually swapped the head from scorpion MK2 and put it on this body and it does look cool.. I have a short on my page if you want to check it out with the figure.

It really sucks that storm can’t be consistent within scale with their own line.
It looks like a good action figure, all Storm figures normally do, it's when you get to the smallest details that you start finding a couple of issues and for the amount of money they ask for this figures they should be a bit better, not that they are bad but they should be better. I never played Mortal Combat that much, I was more of a Nintendo and arcade kind of guy so I'm more into Street Fighter but these look like the action figures I would buy if I was a Mortal Combat fan. Thanks for the review Anthony, only now that you're back I noticed that I actually missed you while you were gone.
The glossy yellow kills it for me, and that skeleton mask is from his character selection in UMK3 (I think), they should have added the artwork mask (very close to his MK4 look).
That thing with the scale started when new classic ninjas were released (Ermac, Smoke and Rain), they are actually taller than Scorpion, Sub Zero and Reptile, and the MK figures kept getting taller since then.
if you don't like the shin pads.. what I did with my BBTS skull head Scorpion was I've place him on an oil heater shins facing down for about 1 or 2 minutes, then I've bend the shin pads with pressure of my finger tips around his shins flattening / shaping it to fit around his shins.. then placed it in cold water to freeze the plastic shin pads into it's new shape.

I hate that some really great lines (WWE Elite Collection and Storm Collectables) do this false 1:12 shit. The average figure should be 6 inches, not seven!

Can't wait for mine. Hopefully a MK3 Sub Zero too. Indeed Storm Collectibles seems not very consistent in its scale. This scorpion is taller than the earlier one.
I alwready own my two favorite ninjas: Reptile and Rain, witht the MK 1/2 Klassic designs.
I'm undecided whether to buy their MK3 version or not (if they release them).
I much prefer the MK3 design, but I agree with this review: the body shape is too muscular for the ninjas.
Also the mask looks a bit too big, even though I know it's realistic.
I'm really curious about Reptile's accessories this time.
He had among the best with the Klassic design, so are they going to give him a new lizard head ?
I sure hope they won't reharse the exact same...
I also hope Rain is really purple this time, and not pink...

Love the school bus yellow quote. My favorite ninja design is the Mortal Kombat 2 version and I was super stoked that storm had made all seven original ninjas from the trilogy of games but with the MK2 design. However, this is literally the only ninja with the MK3 / Trilogy suit design that I Like. It just fits perfect with scorpion as far as the design. Other ninjas, not so much in my opinion. I'm sure you already heard this but the skeleton face mask is what Scorpion's select your fighter icon looks like. I actually prefer the skeleton face mask on this version way more than the original. Original does look way too big on him. The first scorpion storm Collectibles figure with the MK1 and MK2 masks, both of those look good on that one but the skeleton one only looks good on this in my opinion.
I'm glad they made this figure. Even though I prefer the MK1/2 figure and I've wanted it for awhile, it's going for $300 now online, not willing to spend that much on a figure that retailed less than $100
Mine came with missing black paint on the shin guard of one leg
For me if I can make the "get over here!!" Scorpion Pose is fine, just for what I see is more like a 8/10 but yeah a 7/10 is fair enough.
They put that yellow skeleton mask because Scorpion wore it in his selection screen when you pick your fighter.

Well, on a plus note with the scale, maybe the McFarlane MK 11 figures will scale closer to these. I believe that is a 7" line of figures.
McFarlane Sub-Zero is the same height as UMK3 Scorpion.

Even though he may be orangey in some of the art, he was lemon yellow in-game, so I think that's more important, but that's just me. He definitely is more buff than his in-game sprite, though; but like you, I prefer this take
He's not lemon yellow in the game. He's just plain yellow.
Scorpion's in game stats are 6'2" 210 pounds, so while the figure doesn't match the in game character, it matches his stats. The actor was pretty thin.
@@AnthonysCustoms Maybe; either way, the yellow they're using for the figure matches the in-game appearance much better than the orangey art you showed in the video

I saw this while browsing the internet and am glad you reviewed it. The MK3 Scorpion is my favorite look and I'm really disappointed with how this turned out. It's so inaccurate and they really oversized him too.

Storm collectibles figures...the most overrated figures in the market!!I am not gonna pay 90$ for that full of flaws figure even if I love the character.the next one in the overrated list...is super7 figures but that is another story!nice review by the way!
