The video has been dropped! I apologize I had a couple issues with it. I posted and then took back down but everything is good now! Thank you for the interest and support!
Out of thousands and thousands of videos, this is the only one that has shown exactly what to do with the rest of the box (some show before and after without explaining how to change wires). Only question what did you do with the old positive wire? Thank you so much.
i'm wondering that myself. i can understand replacing the battery ground wire, but what to do with the positive that also splits off, with the smaller one going into the side of the fuse box?
@ So from watching other videos. That box houses the inline fuse that goes to the alternator and positive cable. You can run a bigger gauge wire straight to the alternator where the smaller wire goes. Or you can remove the bolt inside the red box and add the cable from the positive on the battery to the rest of the box and place the fuseline wire back. The old positive wire is still there and should remain there. How I finally did it. Still not sure if I should replace the inline fuse wire (the smaller one that is a factory wite) with a bigger gauge wire. Still learning. Hope it's helpful.
@@billybrown640 I broke the wire down that originally goes from the fuse box to the power and it literally is just 2 small wires connected to a bigger one (8 or 6 gauge), it’s no fuse at all.. so you might as well upgrade it tbh.
Clean install! Question, isn’t upgrading the alternator wire not needed since you ran an upgraded wire from the positive battery post directly to the alternator? Couldn’t you have simply removed the factory alternator wire from the red box connection?
Whats the output of your alternator? I just finished installing a 320 amp in. I ended up purchasing my big 3 wire kit separately using 1/0 kit. It made a huge difference in my cars lights dimming and overall feel in power of my car. I own an 06 Acura TL and didn't realize the difference 3 wires would make on how it feels power wise. Maybe its just me but it also feels like my car cranks up faster.
Very nice and clean setup! I was wondering what year your truck is? And did you have to modified the alternator bracket in any way to make it fit or just stock bracket, stock serpentine belt? Longer belt needed? I have a 2003 Chevy avalanche 1500 5.3vortec and was looking to upgrade my stock 105amp alternator to something similar to yours. Thanks and again awesome setup!
Thank you I appreciate the compliment! I have an 03 GMC sierra 1500 4x4 it is a 5.3 as well. With the alternator I bought, I was able to use the same belt no modification for bracket everything was basically plug and play. Now saying that if you do upgrade your alternator just depending on which brand you get I know that there are some that will need the belt to be a different size. I made sure to look at reviews and descriptions before buying this alternator. I have everything I used in the description! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask and I’ll help the best I can!
so essentially all it is to it is running a wire from the positive to the back of the alternator, running a negative to the alt bolt and then another ground to the chassis
You definitely can I’m also going to end removing and running a line straight to alternator! It makes it look cleaner and frees up some space! In my case installing a catch can!😁 I’ll keep screws tho for my ground wires.
I might of miss interpreted lol if you are talking about running a positive cable from battery to the positive on the back of the alternator yes! If you mean running a positive cable to one of the guide pins holding alternator that’s a big no! I’m sorry I should of clarified before! 🙏🏼
Ya the the gauge for it went out lol I already replaced the oil pressure switch and screen under it 😂 the speedometer is also going out 😅 I got a guy whose gonna build a custom cluster for me with the Trans temp just haven’t pulled the trigger yet! Nice eye lol
I get it I had a 2003 suburban and a 2005 Tahoe the instrument clusters are always a problem I got a custom made one on isp and it was definitely worth the money at least it’s not the o ring for the oil pick up tube lmao those suck.
Ya they definitely do and that’s funny cause that’s one of my future projects lol new oil pan gasket, oil pickup tube, and oil pump. Just got done with the steering box and power steering pump! Good shit tho man and thanks for the feedback 🙏🏼
So with running that power wire from the alternator directly to the battery is it safe to run it unfused? I’m sure the wire would burn up before causing any real damage to anything
I didn’t want to deal with having to change out fuses. As long as you upgrade the wiring to something bigger like the 0 gauge you shouldn’t have any problems. I have done it to a couple other trucks the same way with no issues at all! Now on my other video with the second battery install if you wanted to run a fuse to give you peace of mind that’s one way but it’s also not necessary. The only time I would put a fuse is when I’m running any kind of cable from the battery to any other source in the truck like amp and subs or exterior lighting.
Honestly I love it and haven’t had any problems at all. If I had it to do over I’d buy it again! The biggest perk is not having to change the length of the belt and the voltage meter is constant.

Did you change the wire going to the starter? If not, you're going to have to keep the red battery box .all i could change at the .... face palm moment is the cabel from the alternator to the red box face palm
Tell me why I just got done making some wires for in there and noticed that myself 🤦♀️ the wire going down to starter lol 😂 ya ima wait for that until I buy my catch can
Do you mean like the stock wires that are going to the battery? I crimped all my new wires and just added them in. I believe the only wires that I can recall removing is the small wire that runs to the positive box and if you want you can just eliminate that box all together I will do a short video explaining the set up and the changes I’ve made to it 🙏🏼
Absolutely none, it’s what I plan on doing to the truck that sparked the flames 🔥 I mean there was some good amount on diming going on when u let ur foot off gas vs when ur going and the voltage gauge would go a little lower than I liked, but nothing that’s not normal for these trucks. I have another video I’m going to drop in a couple days with the completion of this set up. I ran into some hiccups that’s slowed the process/ my pickiness but all good now! 👌🏼
