  • I got a request to paint a field of poppies😋but I also painted just poppies with a little different style...a video for this one will be available soon!
    There's more requested videos coming up... all will be uploaded soon to my youtube channel so please keep checking 🌺
    Thank you everyone for being part of my TH-cam Channel. I really enjoy reading your comments ☺️🙃I love our community here! You guys are the reason I keep uploading new videos!

    I've been getting a lot of similar questions so I have created a Q/A. Just keep scrolling down and you may find some answers about watercolor PAPERS, pigments, taping down etc 😃👇🏼
    Part III is below 💕

    Having said that, I created these videos so you can enjoy them, learn and paint along with me :)

    All annotations on colors and brushes are in a video.
    ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
    The white pigment I use is DESIGNER'S Gouache - color PERMANENT WHITE, which is an opaque version of watercolor. I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting.
    Paper: Hot Press, 140lb, 100% cotton - watercolor paper

    PART III
    Most common questions I get and here are some answers:
    ♦︎14.WHY DO I USE IT SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES I DON'T?♥︎
    (art masking fluid for watercolors)
    It depends on what I am painting. If I paint an underwater sea turtle and the water is turquoise I don't want my turtle to get any of that blue in its body so I will protect it with the fluid. If I paint a sea boat and it's a sunset, where the boat would be in similar tones I won't worry too much about the background paint going over the boat.
    It depends on how much you want to protect the white areas. If you need them to stay all the way white, then you will need the art masking fluid for sure. Especially if those spots are very small or complex. But if those areas will be painted over later, then you may not need the fluid.
    ♦︎15.CAN I COPY YOUR PAINTINGS?♥︎
    Yes of course that's what my tutorials are for so you can paint along with me. So again yes as long as you are not trying to make money off of the copies. ©
    ♦︎16.WHERE DOES MY INSPIRATION COME FROM?♥︎
    Everything that's around me, memories from travels, childhood, things I see everyday.
    A good practice is.. wherever you are.. absorb everything with your eyes, look at the sky, look at the ocean, lake, river, trees, your neighbors backyard, a dog, anything that surrounds you and examine its shapes/ colors/ structure.
    When I look at things I always imagine how would I paint it. How would I create that fog below the mountain or clouds sitting on top of the mountain.
    You absorb colors and shapes with your eyes and carry those memories with you when you are ready to start painting. I recommend to always plan ahead. I believe you will be the most efficient in your work when you think before picking up a brush and create your palette. Like if you are painting from a photograph, look at it and think of the colors you see, the colors you see underneath the colors what to use to create those shades of blues pinks greens... and perhaps what colors you need to mix and what would help you to create a texture.. a sponge? a tooth brush? a plastic wrap? a cotton ball?
    Part I and II are in my previous videos :)

    Your painting is so alive and free!! Wonderful! I mainly do acrylic, but you are luring me to watercolor. I also think your TH-cam tutorials are beautifully done so that we see the actual painting, information and instruction without needless jabber.

      Maria Raczynska Привет Мария! Всегда рада поддержать, тем более когда видишь ваши работы, эту красоту, разнообразие сюжетов! Я про вас не забыла, иногда заглядывала на ваш канал, но писать было некогда. У меня долго болел сын и я была занята его здоровьем. Рисовала мало, не было желания и настроения. Но слава Богу все кажется позади и я рада снова вас похвалить и порадоваться вашим успехам и тому, что число ваших поклонников увеличивается! Я за вас очень рада и никогда не сомневалась, что так будет! Ну а я буду потихоньку учиться у вас и наверстывать упущенное время. Так,что желаю нам с вами больших успехов в творчестве! Ирина.

    AWWWWW just what I wanted to see !!! Soo beautiful !!! 🥀🌷💐💖 Maria can you please show the process of how you put paper on the glass, spraying or wetting and all, most people are visual, I think everybody would appreciate to see that...if you can of course...hope I'm not asking/bugging too much...LOL...❣🤗👍🏻

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tatiana 😊I will be happy too! I will show it in one of my videos next week I hope. I have a lot of videos to edit that are sitting on my computer just need to figure out which one was it where I was showing the glass etc. But I don't do anything to it, I lay the paper flat on a glass and start painting, while I am painting the paper gets sucked to the glass from all the water and paint I have been using ;) It's a good idea to wet the paper first underneath tho 🤗🌸💐

      It's ok there is no rush I am working on a graphite picture at the moment which is taking me right out of my comfort zone it's challenging but am using the grid method to draw from a photo. It's slowly coming along and am pleased and amazed that I can do this. There are a lot of hours left for me to do so I am watching your videos as a change. Tak przy okazji, wczoraj wyprobowalam hot-pressed paper. Rzeczywiscie jest duzo inny od cold-pressed, ale mimo wszystko nie wyszlo mi to, co chcialam 😕 Moze dlatego, ze uzylam rozwodniony gouache, a nie watercolour w tubkach... a moze po prostu artysta do kitu 😂😂😂

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nie przejmuj sie🤗🙏🏼za pierwszym razem nie wszystko zawsze wychodzi :)😅 trzeba sie przyzwyczaic do bialego gouache i hot pressed :)👍🏼 bialy gouache powinien byc raczej uzyty jako dodatek, do rozswietlania (dodawania swiatla) albo w galaxy painting jako droga mleczna, musisz troche poprobowac bo napewno trzeba sie nauczyc kontrolowac i wode i farby :) wiec nie poddawaj sie, praktyka czyni mistrza☺️💕

    • @gjartstudios9970
      @gjartstudios9970 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A czy jest jakas roznica pomiedzy kolorowym gouache i watercolour w tubkach? Wczoraj uzylam tych ostatnich. Z wierzchu wygladaja tak samo... 😯Teraz zamowilam watercolour w tubkach i zobaczymy, czy bedzie jakas roznica.

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gosiu, ten white gouache co ja uzywam nazywa sie designer's gouache color: permanent white. Ja wszystkie akwarele mam w tubkach. Gouache tez jest w tubce. Designers gouache i watercolors to akwarele tyle ze designers gouache jest "opaque" a akwarele sa bardziej przezroczyste. Nie probowalam jeszcze innych kolorow Designers gouache ale jestem na drodze do tego zeby wyprobowac pelny zestaw kolorow ☺️🌺

      Maria Raczynska, thanks for fast reply! I paint from a Fabriano watercolour block but it deforms because of the water making valleys into the paper and makes me a problem while doing wahses. And paper curls up when I finish the painting. Does that mean it is low quality ?

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alessio, I have the same Fabriano watercolor block and I've had the same problem with this paper... it's like it can't handle the amount of water and paint... its strange but I know what you mean... so I don't paint on Fabriano anymore, it disappointed me too many times... I honestly don't think it's a good paper. I rather invest more in better high quality papers because you can do so much more. I mostly only paint on Arches papers. Arches never disappointed me. thank you.

    What type of pencil do you use to do your sketh that it does not show on the final painting?

    • @mariamorjane
      @mariamorjane  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lina, just the most simple pencil you can find :) When I do a sketch I don't draw lines hard, very soft, and if you do it first too hard, you may want to go over your sketch with an eraser- just to soften it up. With all the outlines I create with watercolors, you can never really see a pencil sketch. Thank you!

    I plan to paint this next time, but i have a question about mask fluid . if i put on mask fluid how long should i remove it, i read someone said need to remove it within 24 hours, otherwise it will be difficult to remove it. This will be issue because sometimes i need a few days of free time to paint. so i need to make sure i can manage it well, thanks.

    • @mariamorjane

      Hi Sarah :) When I put art masking fluid, I usually use a thicker layer, and that definitely helps to peel it off easier. Often I prep my pencil sketch the night before and apply the art masking fluid so it has that time to dry (because of it's thick layer) so its ready for me to start painting with watercolors in the morning.. I pretty much always finish my painting same day, within 1-2hrs so I've never left art masking fluid for more than 24hrs. You can always test it on a small piece of paper. I never had a problem. The only problem I had was when I didn't let art masking fluid dry all the way.. now that's a disaster lol
