Have the 475 in my 19 glide with stock headpipe v&h torquer 450’s and v&h breather. Did the cam hear kit from s&s and it put down 110hp 127 torque dyno tuned. No bogging very crisp and extremely healthy. Nasty cam and I love it.

Needs to be dyno tuned correctly and you will not have that 475 “bogging” feeling. Believe it the dyno operator makes all the difference.i have same bike same cam same issues when dyno tuned at Harley. Then to a private shop and the magic happened. NO more issues.

great video.. one note. the two cams are totally different in category and purpose. The 465 reaper is a torque cam, the S&S475 is more of a hp cam that comes on stronger in the mid to higher rpm range. An apples to apples comparison would be the S&S 465 torque cam..

I been riding too many years. Im 64 now. I do not understand the bogging you speak of. I know what bogging is, but we avoid bogging by being in a gear where your rpms are not bogged down. I have a 2019 Cvo Limited 117 with Bassani headers, 4inch Rineharts, an S&S 475 cam and a fuel moto tuner. 35k on her now.. All I can say is she has plenty of power in any gear. 6th gear you really need to be at 80 mph or above to use 6th gear. Acts like an overdrive trans gear.
5th and below has all the power. Great video and thanks for taking your time to make it and explain everything. Nice job.

I believe the point he is trying to make is that the 475 cam comes on around 2700 to 3000 rpms vs the 465 comes on at 2000 rpms. so it is more of a torque cam.

@@jimbo4260 No problem, I also been riding for a longtime now at the age of 65 soon. Boy how time flys. I bought a 2022 SGS with a 114 and went through 2 cams so far. First a SE .447 and now the S&S 465 more of a torque cam. I do like it at low RPMs you can't beat it. The S&S 475 really shines with a 124 Big bore kit. It idles off like at 130 or 140 foot lbs of torque. I am not sure if I want to spend the money again on another cam but I am looking at the Star Racing 30-30 cam with a 64 mm throttle body and manifold. It's all about the money and my bike rides okay for a solo rider. check out the videos on the MHP 485 cam it is the Star 30 30 cam. amazing numbers.

@James-x1z Hi James....yea bike parts are like tattoos...once ya start it's hard to stop. However money is not what it was back in the day so I've chilled out. The 475 in my 117 I'll say, is plenty of power for me at all speeds. I'm mainly a highway cruising guy. 75-80 mph. I can't say I have any complaints with getting out of the way, at any rpm. My 2 cents (based on actual experience)...Not familiar with Feuling's 465 cam, but I am familiar with the S&S 465 cam and the S&S 475 cam. Also, The Wood 22XE appears to be a great cam, definitely worth considering for Touring, 2-up, etc. (just saying).
IMO and based on the valve timing events of these two S&S cams: the S&S 465 cam works very well in stock compression 107 (10.0:1)/114 (10.5:1)/117 (10.2:1) M8's. It has a nice chop at idle and more importantly [where Torque is desired in the low-to-mid range, and hits early] works extremely well in a Touring Chassis Harley, riding 2-up, and riding in the curves up in the hills, etc. On a 2021 RGS 114, I can feel the torque coming on early (below 2000 rpm), very strong mid-range (2750-4000+), and plenty of power from 4500-5000+. The S&S 475 cam (IMO needs more compression, 10.75:1 to 11.0:1), as when installed in a stock compression engine, gives up some low end torque but "seems" to have more midrange torque (3000-4500) and nice power on the top end, provided the Tune is spot-on. I always run a long (full) 2-1 exhaust (and 18mm wideband O2 sensors), ventilate the crankcase (Trask M8 checkvent), and tune with Dynojet Power Vision (PV3b for 2021-2023 Harleys).

Thanks for the footage marvel The exhaust velocity (often misworded as back pressure) definitely slows down with the oversized mufflers affecting low end torque. The quality of the tune could also be an issue. As far as the sheet starting at 2000 RPM, that is just a common RPM range that tuners usually start the graph because people do not (or at least should not) realistically cruise under that range. Personally, I try to keep cruising RPM around 3000, but that's a separate discussion.
I've heard lots of people say the 475 just isn't a good low end cam. This is incorrect. In many of the instances it is due to what I just mentioned: poor exhaust combination and/or poor tune. I'm confident you can get that torque back, or even improved with the right exhaust combo and/or tuning resolution.

I put a 475 in a breakout after listening to the lope of it in your video on the lowrider
But coming from a screaming eagle torque cam it did bog alot off the light and low revs
On an open road it was great and ofcourse pulled harder but in traffic tbh the s/e cam was better and snappier
Probably wouldve kept it if i knew that before and saved money😅

475 is a horse power cam. 465 is the torque cam. 475 is a beast in the higher rpm range.

great video, what would be a good cam for my 22 Fat Bob 114? It’s my commuter bike, ride solo in Los Angeles traffic usually never go past 90 MPR and total weight with gear is about 200 lbs.

I just did the S&S 465 in mine, same bike, its all the power in the usable RPM range, down low where you need it & still plenty on top, sound at idle and on the gas is just as good as the 475, I don't understand why anyone still buys the 475, although I've seen a few who switched from the 475 to the 465 and were happy they did...Anyway, lots of good cams out there, but you can't go wrong with 465 IMO

Of the S&S bolt-on cams, the 465 would be the torque cam, 475 moves that rev range to a point of actually losing toque in the low range, compared to the stock. Once it comes out of 2.5-3, it’s straight up.

You are right and he's wrong. 465 is the torque cam.

I just came back from trip to NH and you’re right nothing but traffic, toll roads, and semi’s. A few nice roads in PA around Tioga made the trip memorable.

That 'bogging' you're talking about isn't it bogging, it's the chop of the cam. If you're not used to bigger cams and don't want that lope (that I personally love), you should have gone with the 465 which is the 'smoother' feeling cam down low and for more torque down low.

Perhaps the S&S 475 was bogging down for you because it was not properly tuned.

    • @MadMexism
      @MadMexism 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nah, the S&S 475 just makes no low end power. Had a friend with a 114 FXDR, and that guy had to always half clutch it to raise the rpm’s up to get the bike going. His top end was straight scary though. That cam is for bigger displacement than a 114. It’s doable, but not street friendly.

It all depends on back pressure of the pipe and tune I thought
