What I learnt is that Meithei's are Ethnic Group of Manipur and due to Illegal Migrants from Myanmar coming to India in Large Numbers caused disturbance in the Region.
Its Meitei.
The Meiteis are the ones who are illegal immigrants who came into Manipur in the thousands after the Myanmar Junta takeover of power in Myanmar since 1st February 2021, but the Meiteis blamed the Kukis as illegal immigrants which is wrong. Also, the Meiteis are the real narco-terrorists, as they are the druglords and kingpins of the drug cartels operating in three countries called the Golden Triangle - Myanmar, Thailand, Loas, Cambodia included. The Meiteis are the land grabbers as they realized the legislature is theirs but tribals seemed to occupy more land - those lands that are non arable, while they exhausted the fertile plain valley areas for buildings and other recreational activities! Yet, despite enjoying all kinds of government jobs and benefits through SC & OBC categories, the Meiteis still wanted to become Scheduled Tribes for grabbing Tribal lands in the foothills of Manipur and pushed the Kuki tribals to the unhabitable mountain areas.
Yup and since these illegal migrants enjoy the status of ST. The meitei are at the risk of becoming minority and landless in their own home state.

Truth be told. ST is not the root cause of the ethnic clash. The chin kukis felt let down by Biren govt when their dreams of poppy cultivation and narcotic trades were destroyed. But they couldn't protest on this matter as these are illegal trades and no one will support them in this cause. So they have been waiting for an opportunity and... kaboom the meiteis demand for ST then serves as their Golden opportunity.

The Manipur High Court has admitted a review petition seeking to modify its March 27 order that directed the state government to recommend inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list.
Based on the petition, the court on Monday issued notices to the Centre and the state government, seeking their response.
The review petition by the Meitei Tribes Union (MTU) was admitted for hearing by a bench of Acting Chief Justice MV Muralidharan, who had also authored the March 27 order.
In the order, Justice Muralidharan had directed the Manipur government to reply to the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry on a file related to the request for inclusion of the Meiteis on the ST list.
The high court noted that the Meiteis had submitted several requests for ST status to the Centre from 2013 onwards - a request that was forwarded to the state government for a formal recommendation.
But the state government never acted on it, the high court said before directing it to respond to the Union government.
In addition to this direction, the HC had also said, “The first respondent shall consider the case of the petitioners for inclusion of the Meetei/Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe list, expeditiously, preferably within a period four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order…”
