It's due to unemployment and poverty. Actually pretty sad how this Country has become. Im amazed at how much fighting there is amongst the different cultures within the black community 😢
definitely true, people don't see other options. Drugs, alcohol and lack of education also massive contributors. if successive governments don't deal with these issues the problem will never go away.
We have to remember that kzn is 85% a black demographic so that stat will always likely be disproportionately skewed towards majority of perpetrators being black
Interesting. We see the same trend in the US, France, Brazil, Canada, the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, and everywhere else on the planet. It must just be a coincidence. 🤷♂
First time I hear my very own calling it out as it is "black men". Im hoping he digs deeper, the amount of neglect in black townships, no sports fields with grass, no proper libraries, poor public service, no investment of manufacturing jobs, exodus of skilled black dollar millionaires due to backwards government policies...put it all together, you get good picture. Black leadership needs to change, we have allowed our country to rottt.
And if the courts would hear single moms plights instead of turning them away with ambiguous reasons for doing so, our kids would be better off. The lack of action against absconding fathers contributes to lawless youths!
Unlike WC,..89% of kzn population is black, and there are more man than woman in that province....The same majority is unemployed, the ANC local government just pulled the plug on EPWP, that gives jobs to the same majority of black people,...This is the same majority of black men who grew up without their fathers...after 1948 land act , when farming land was taken away , forcing fathers to leave their sons to stay in hostels like little boys....these are all glaring issues playing themselves on every black man in this country....we need government policies to focus creating economic support for black youth in this country... instead of just stating obvious....this government needs to catch a wake-up....
Respect him for being transparent in sharing that data. in ZA race can curtail progress. We can now focus on finding the solution to help all of those young black men and prevent more from going that direction
KZN is a violent province everyday is a challenge here this commissioner is really cleaning the streets and doing good police work which is commendable
All provinces are violent. SA has socio economic problems. Cape town is far worse than KZN, gangs are causing havoc. But you people act as if that part is not SA. Coloured people in cape town would be the problem because they are the majority affected by socio-economic problems that side. So, this statement by commissioner is reckless and ignorant.
It's not always because of poverty and unemployment. I've know many who come from good homes but prefer that life instead of a law abiding life. Also, criminals are celebrated in KZN, not just in the black community. Just look at some criminal's funerals here, you would think that guy died for his country or something.
Mkhwanazi reminds me of my data analysis two days ago. As I was analysing data findings indicate that we have a problem of violent crime, around 600 000 violent crimes annually, and thats what gets reported. If we can solve the issue of violent crimes, especially in the metros, I think SA will be much safer.
Who was in charge as a police commissioner in KZN during looting spree, we have to blame him, he allowed KZN people to learn how to steal, instead they were blaming uCele for nothing
Of course the statistics will give such a picture given the fact that the Black African nationals of the whole African Continent converge to SA to make it their home.
@@steadfastmj78 interesting how you channel the blame away from the Zulus to other nations. Some may be from other countries but the Zulu culture, which makes up the greater social fabric of Natal, remains tolerant of a high crime component
I wish the country, and the world even, had more individuals like KZNs police commissioner. I think there is a malaise within the black community that continues to fester and grow because it is never addressed. Instead the problems within the black community tend to be outsourced to white-on-black racism (this isn't to say racism isn't a prevalent issue, and that a lot of the problems within the black community aren't a direct result of racism), but only the black community can fix its problems right now, no one else will, and you can't fix a problem if you don't first admit you have one. The black community most stop celebrating leaders and entrepreneurs who steal from the poor just because they are rich, because this encourages an attitude where having money is the end goal irrespective of what you do to get it, encouraging and normalizing corruption and crime amongst black people. Black people must also deal with classism, which feeds into this cycle by encouraging the disrespect and dehumanization of people with no money, which will push black people to get money by any means just be respected within the black community.
and they must also stop with making babies, dissapear so the child has no father figure and stop making babies for the grants while mom is living of alcohol and the child gets dropped by grandma
100% Mr commissioner well said"black man problem" may God protect u and yo team in this fight in Jesus name i pray🙏. KZN is blessed to have u as commissioner.
The real problem is joblessness among black men. Since men were created to be breadwinners, they feel obligated to do something about the situation. They are also undermined by their partners because they are unable to provide, hence you find a lot of them resorting to violence in their homes.
There are poorer countries than S,A but their men do not resort to crime & violence. It's time we change our social fabric cause we have no moral values. It's a free for all from young to old from poor to rich.
The government says it has a national skills development programme, but the progamme does not seem to go around & take young men & women for skills developments programmes. One is obliged to suspect that the skills development programmes are only given to the connected. Otherwise we would see trucks coming to look for the potential people right there at the townships, squatter camps and all areas that have high rates of unemployment. In the past there used to be such programmes from the army, for an example, the dept of labour too used to do that. Sadly those programmes seem to have dissapeared forever". Which criteria is the govt using to take people for skills development programmes?? The general is a true reflection of a genuine cop. I remember recently when reprimanded rogue policemen who had assaulted people there in KZN. He endevoured to follow the matter up and deal with his subordinates who seem to originate from other provinces but deployed in the KZN. Bravo to the General.
They stole the Skills Development money, I think over a billion rands is unaccounted for. Investigation is ongoing but we know this will be in perpetuity. No one will be arrested.

These are truly painful stats! If only we were better at protecting these youngsters and preventing criminality. We can't win them all but surely we can definitely do better than this!
Make this guy the police minister 👏👏
Absolutely you are correct
Phezukwabo Mkhwanazi umdali asigcinele wena siyabonga sisakudinga kulomsebenzi wakho omuhle nethimba lakho
We really need this man, safaaa
Heal our land Lord Almighty.
This man knows exactly what he's doing. He can be able to identify where the problem comes from. We need leaders like Mkhwanazi
As KZN we are proud of our police and police commissioner. He hope that other provinces will take a page from our book.
Mr commissioner we salute u for the great work you n ur team are doing...thank you 💕...much appreciated...b safe
KEEP UP THE GOODWORK MKHWANAZI.I KNOW THEY WILL HATE YOU FOR TALKING THE TRUTH.
Fathers men are needed to be conservative again for a better family life society and country. We pray for us men. Gid bless SA.
Amen !!!Absent fathers among the black community is a huge problem and definitely contributing factor here
He didn't say anything about absent father's typical!!
@@itsnevertoolatetodotherigh3271 to be conservative means you will not wonder and be absent.....it is called doing what is right and not what you want or can do.
@@Zeeh_Ntumbeza as with all as in my case and sure it is majority of whites aswell. Men remain men that must remain more conservative dor a better society...freedom is freedom, but it comes with responsibilities and consequences. It effects siciety SA at large for all families throughout the world.
@@weymouthesterhuizen1145 that is not the definition of conservative Dawg, a simple Google search would clear things up
Nothing new here. Everyone knows this but nobody is allowed to say it.
Restore the family unit, you'll see that crime stat will change. If fathers can marry the women they impregnate, then raise their sons to be honourable men, our nation will change. Dads, go home and raise your children. Please😢
Would be interesting to get the split in that number between actual SA individuals and foreigners...
Hes a TOP TOP COP . Salute to you sir .
If we can have him a National Commissioner of Police plus Mr Gaydon Mckenzie as National Minister of Police surely we can have crime free South Africa and live peacefully again in our beautiful country....
No offense, General Sir, remember we are the majority in the country as Black ppl. The very same majority is jobless, and thank u for highlighting that fact. When it comes to my fellow age group, we are the victims of drug abuse, alcohol etc. Sir, please allow me to say RSA failed the youth, in all Provence we are witnessing the same issues. Keep up the good work S'thandazwe # I SALUTE U CMDR.
Agree with you to an extent, however these issues causing crime should not be be violent crime, murder, rape. Thete is no humanity left. 😢
The only reason why the death penalty is not being brought back.
The problem is the taverns ,bottle stores and drug dealers, we living in a drunk and dancing society who doesn't get a chance to think positively and make things happen, who go to such an embarrassing extent to us black people by even carrying beer crades to dance in the robots asking for money in return and others though not financially stable, they make babies for a living contributing to their even further poverty status 😢😢😢
The problem is black men. You will look for anything to avoid listening to what he said in plain terms
Baba Mkhwanazi Ume njalo sengathi izinyanya zingakugcina❤❤Siyakuthanda e KZN
Mkhwanazi, my Police Commissioner, Behind you all the way sir. We need to fix this problem.
This man is deserving of a more senior position... I suggest Minister of Police!?
well they are the majority population- unemployed, uneducated, etc...
You didn't listen. He didn't say blacks, he said black men between ages of 16 and 25.
@@antoniedutoit3847and they are not unemployed, uneducated etc?
@@antoniedutoit3847 Same thing. Majority unemployed are men...
Like seriously. 😂 the answer is so simple. It's the majority. It is directly linked to socio-economic issues. He missed with this one
Drop out of school hei tooo bS
Bad
The single parent issue with more black girls falling pregnant to qualify for childcare benefits is going to be with SA for a long time.
The big white elephant in the room in SA the past 30 years. Thank you Mr Police. High time the fathers start taking care of themselves and their kids and not the taxpayer. Our backs are broken.
And the Stats don't lie. People will go about blaming unemployment and all other things but they forget that we are also struggling but we'll never go around robbing and killing people. The sickening thing is that you rob someone who chose to work things out despite the struggle. They don't stop there but they go on and kill
When we face truth then thats when we can change ---- until then chains in the brain and lives down the drain ---- what a shame!
Thanks ,commissioner, we need honest discussions of what's wrong, that will make solving problems easier!
About time the police start being honest about crime stats. Unfortunately, the lack of economic opportunities is the number 1 cause of criminal activities. These men need jobs desperately!
Oh My namesake! We are proud of you General....you are amongst those that give hope to country ❤.
He appears competent and well spoken. Unfortunate statistic but at least they have the data so that something can be done
@@shahidallyExactly!
I'm going to agree as well. The ANC and their failed policies are directly to blame for this.
I don't believe that. I believe it's a raising problem. I don't think these children are raised adequately in the Christian way
Poverty is sending you to kill those who strive to better themselves and their children 😢😢😢
Media, NGO’s and academics (living behind high walls) are a big problem in this country.
We have to remember that kzn is 85% a black demographic so that stat will always likely be disproportionately skewed towards majority of perpetrators being black
Atleast his telling the truth as it is if someone from other community tells the truth they wil call him or her racist
16-25 year olds, this is very disturbing. It's our future generation.
Legend
Well well well...
Aww damn. Let's pray for our brothers🙏🏽💔🇿🇦
Interesting. We see the same trend in the US, France, Brazil, Canada, the UK, Spain, Germany, Sweden, and everywhere else on the planet. It must just be a coincidence. 🤷♂
The answer is right there: get economic emancipation right and also fix our homes as black people.
Wow .. police commissioner, well said, at last someone to name the problem as it is .. kudos to you😊
Our single parent houses must stop!! MEN NEED TO BE PART OF THEIR KIDS LIVES...NO...THEY MAKE BABIES AND THEN RUN AWAY!!! WENA!!!
Takes two to make a baby.
And if the courts would hear single moms plights instead of turning them away with ambiguous reasons for doing so, our kids would be better off. The lack of action against absconding fathers contributes to lawless youths!
Dont let the men impregnate you BEFORE they marry you!
I'm a fan of this dude. God protect him. This country needs him.
Salute chief. You spoke the truth.
Shocking but sadly not surprising.
16, The Government should be worried
Mkhwanazi a man of action ❤
Got mad respect for this guy, ex- Task Force. He's the national commissioner we need
I like this guy, having just moved to KZN, he gives me hope
Mkhwanazi reminds me of my data analysis two days ago. As I was analysing data findings indicate that we have a problem of violent crime, around 600 000 violent crimes annually, and thats what gets reported. If we can solve the issue of violent crimes, especially in the metros, I think SA will be much safer.
Who was in charge as a police commissioner in KZN during looting spree, we have to blame him, he allowed KZN people to learn how to steal, instead they were blaming uCele for nothing
😂😂😂😂uyagula. How do you allow people to steal?
Really? Would never have guessed
Of course the statistics will give such a picture given the fact that the Black African nationals of the whole African Continent converge to SA to make it their home.
U know u have a point, south africans are not violent criminals, yes we had criminals but the violent ones are from outside.
@@rastaweed1268 bulldust
@@steadfastmj78 interesting how you channel the blame away from the Zulus to other nations. Some may be from other countries but the Zulu culture, which makes up the greater social fabric of Natal, remains tolerant of a high crime component
@@rastaweed1268so taxi killings and construction mafia are done by Nigerians? 😂
@not.likely Not clear how the Zulu culture is "tolerant of crimes", do you want to rephrase your response maybe?
There’s a lot of root causes for that disappointing stat and bad governance over the past 30 years is the main reason we are here🙏🏾
And bad parenting. Sad truth☹️
We even forget who's the national commissioner or other provincial heads of police
How many Nigerians are involved?
Acknowledgment is the first step to resolving the issue
Well said..
I like the way he also pointed out the root of the problem.
Which now becomes the problem of the police department..
This information is not rocket science!! 😑
He does not mince words we r Criminals
How many foreigners are a part of that statistic?
Salute Mkhwanazi
