    At like three in the morning two nights ago I went on this adventure out into my neighborhood. I sat in the middle of a random person’s lawn and closed my eyes for a moment, getting into a present state. It was this magical and strange time of night where the crickets hadn’t finished their chirping, but the birds had already started singing. The wind moving around me and the lack of sound coming from the highway that was within visual distance was enough to remind me of that ache. I remember weeping because I could finally remember what it felt like. That ache of flowing, gentile but persistent movement on both the inside and the outside along with the feeling that the two were finally able to synchronize. It was so so beautiful.

      Who is talking about meditation ? Fasting of the heart is not meditation, all right ? Daoism is not about sitting around all day doing nothing and let others run your life. Daoism is about focus and persistence, and living out our heart's desires to the fullest, positively, aggressively, relentlessly, and optimistically. Whatever we do, it is Dao. Dao is the origin of everything including all our desires. So one with Dao live according to what one desired. It's that simple.

    • @jwu1950

      Our senses are not gateways. They are one way passages, only in, no out. Our mind reacts to outside info and respond with emotions followed by motions. We may respond with an angry emotion and start to punch someone. To stop all our senses is to be dead, which we all must go eventually, just a matter of time. Daoism is about living a joyful life. We can do this by applying filters to the constant bombardments of outside info. Dao allows us to be focused and persistent, like water. We live out all our hearts desires to the fullest, positively, actively, constructively, and optimistically, never go with the flow and never let go.

      I work in a warehouse and it's a perfect place with all the noise, tension, and mayhem to learn how to stay calm and disciplined in the worst of situations. After controlling my mind in such a brutal environment controlling it in other places is a piece of cake. I view life as training over self. Over mind, body and soul. Just finding myself in adrenaline filled situations where I want to die is an opportunity to analyze self, take a step back, and understand self of why I feel that way. The idea of letting go helps a lot when you're tested. I learned that intervening in many ways is actually my ego trying to impose itself onto others and eventually almost always comes back to bite you. I'm both a lab rat and a scientist. There's no right or wrong way to live. There's only action and reaction. Cause and effect. That's the way of the dao.

      I used to have this problem in my first job in the fast food industry. Believe it or not, i learned to meditate awake, or day dreaming i suppose. The main point is to be out of the world into your fantasy. I shut off my co workers and i was all about my costumers so i knew exactly what orders came in and what got out. Never wanted to be a supervisor because then it will break the trance. But i used the symbol of a robot to be a robot at work , be physically there but spiritually i was in the garden of eden. I noticed people kept complaining no matter how much they changed their job, yes you can work somewhere more easy. But thats what life is , its never easy , outside of the job its never easy. We must learn to always be happy in our my minds even though the world is cruel and destructive.

    This video ties in nicely with a book I've just finished called "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle...I highly recommend it, and I highly recommend his teachings in general. He speaks of the ego (the mind) being responsible for our suffering, and how observing our thoughts without judgment, allows us to live in the present, where the ego can not not exist. The present is the only reality, since memories, and anticipation are mere traces of our perceptions. When we give our attention to the present moment, by dissolving the illusions our ego manifests, we automatically fully sense the Tao.

      Whose place ? Not yours for sure because you are not doing anything. You just follow the flow of others and let go of your own flow. That is the exact opposite of Daoism. Daoism is about being focused and persistent, like water, making your flow the inevitable flow that others would inevitably follow.

      @@VBM1 Don't know which books you were referring to. If it is the Bible, the OT, Jesus and Lao Tzu both contradict such superstitions. Lao Tzu is 500 years older than Jesus. Jesus most likely learned from the teachings of Lao Tzu. That is why Jesus never described God, the Will of God, or the Way of God. What God, Words of God, or Will (aka Way, aka Dao) of God cannot be described by humans or they would not be the eternal God, Words of God, or Dao (of God).
      If you meant Darwinian Evolution, that one is just a fairytale. If you meant science, it needs to be falsifiable and therefore not eternal. What contradiction ?

      What are you talking about ? Daoism is not Buddhism. There is no mumble jumble spirituality in Daoism. There is only reality and Dao. Daoist does not sit around and do nothing like Buddhists. Daoism is the way to live a vibrant, aggressive, active, and positive life, and to enjoy all our desires to the fullest. Dao is inevitably not letting go and not go with the flow of others, but being focused, persistent, and creating one own flow. Let be for Dao is inevitable.

This serenity is a blessing however we have made our own mind our biggest enemy in a way, it's programmed and conditioned as such for years of experiences.

    To add to this, in a lot of ancient Hindu scriptures, the "mann" or heart (used for the mind just the way it is used in the video) is the most difficult to gain control over, but gaining control of your "mann" or mind is the key to finding eternal peace.

    “How can we find inner peace, when we are constantly plagued by thoughts?” . This has been my problem for the longest time. When you sit with straight spine (and other daoist principles for meditation - will find somewhere in qigong) you focus on your breathing. Forget anything else, this is your exercise, so focus on it. When you notice your mind slips back to thinking, don't worry, just focus back on the breath. It's good to do some qigong before meditation, that already calms down your mind. Also use your imagination and words, thoughts before meditation, like - all thoughts fly away like white swans, my mind becomes clear as water in the mountain lake, my body becomes still and heavy as a mountain. You must have a real passion and curiosity about what you are able to do, just experiment without attaching to the outcome you wish to accomplish. Just experience what you are doing, be in the moment (now).

    • @jenetgreenfield3667
      @jenetgreenfield3667 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Body's position is very important. It helps tremendously, only sitting on the chair with straight back, straight eyebrows, facial muscles relaxed, but still having inner smile, feeling "the string" that actually tells your body you are aligned with the earth em field, your jaw slightly turned back, tongue touching the hard pallet/upper teath... Check your muscles throughout your body that they are relaxed. This position alone changes how you feel when you sit still for some time. You may check Mantak Chia. And everything you do, you just learn, never become angry or frustrated, you are just learning and getting better with every time.

With as far as it did get me in some fields of life did i really grow as a person? did I really get me to where i want to be mentally as a person? For that i feel im still stuck where I was almost 10 yrs ago. But maybe... just maybe knowing i can recognize that; I am taking the right steps in the direction of self growth and healing.
