Being out in CO, there's only 2 things I miss about not being back east. Whitetails and surf fishing. Great video!

👍Perch can be finicky on the catch sometimes. My best results have been on a minimal transition tide, and fishing the incoming tide, 3-4 hrs
clear through slack tide. Would recommend using an pyramid weight, they seem to stick on the bottom better.

Look for steep spots on the beach. The steeper it is the deeper the surf will be and the more bait will collect there which means there will be more perch. Cool to see a video on your guys Chanel where your fishing where I spent a lot of time when I was a kid. They makes great tacos too btw

Thanks for the tips! It was my first time to this beach, so between trying to figure the beach out and getting video, I had my hands full. Every trip is a learning experience but I was really happy with the few I got. My first few trips were full of skunk.

Like the man said find a little drop off and if the smelt are moving toss a silver flatfish. They really know how to smack em.

More videos like this for sure.
4 part videos are a little much.

From the Oregon coast, area looks very familiar (but won't say on here, not sure that would be cool 😁) but I would like to try this kind of fishing

Let me know when ya wanna catch a limit. Limits for everyone, every time out. No cameras or spot naming allowed. We took over 500 in 3 weekends

It used to be (years ago) that you didn't need a license to surf fish in Oregon... what's the requirements now?

No need to "stay ahead of the wave". Let the wave help bring the fish to you.

My lack of surf fishing experience is showing. In my mind I was trying to stay ahead of the wave so that I wouldn't get slack in the line and potentially lose the fish. Thanks for the tip!

Need try breakaway sinkers wire prongs make huge difference holding line in place in the surf

I've seen what you are talking about but haven't seen them in stores (the Portland-area shops tend to get picked over on certain items). I do have a few of the claw-style weights that I can try next time.

@@Fresh_Tracks pretty common in new zealand where surf fishing is hugely popular

Watch out for the barbs on the back they can get you.

I can catch almost anything that swims, but those things have kicked my ass. I have a hard time reading the water on a giant sand beach.
