I started listening to the pirate radio stations Jazz Funk Merchants which became JFM then London Weekend Radio, which became LWR; all long before Kiss 100… Loved the Streetsounds Electro albums too and still have all of them!
Solar Radio too bredrin. Used to hate when they got raided, went off the air and suddenly came back half an hour later, but you forgot your radio was still tuned in. 😂. Nearly went deaf from shock!
First time I've heard lesson 1 today. I've danced to lesson 2 in clubs a few time's. Lesson 3 taped off John Peel , played to death and forgotten. I was word perfect from the off, tho. Thanks so much for sharing this!
We used to go craaazy breakdancing to the breakbeat located in 11:50. That break drove us Puerto Ricans mad on the dancefloor back in those days ha ha ha!!!!
@@popcyclesThey first came out as promo / advanced copies to Djs on Disconet rec, two first rec in 1984 then 3rd in 1985, then were printed on "tommy boy rec" after the Disconet rec releases on the same years.

Yeah, I feel that only those of us into Electro in the mid 80s would have a clue this is a thing. Thanks for uploading them back to back - that's how I used to listen to them back then! Still superb,
This was the start for me, blew my mind when I first listened to these many years ago, soon after coldcut, bomb the bass etc were having big hits in the uk charts, then acid house came along and it went crayzee 😂
I remember buying the "legitimate" Tommy Boy 12" and being crestfallen when it wasn't this (at the time) "illegal" version. Still amazing, and to the best of my knowledge it was all done via tape splicing, without digital samplers. (If I'm wrong please correct me...thanks!)
I’m trying to work out which cut ‘n’ paste track sampled the music theory book tape ‘read rhythm right’ by Claire Lester. I think it was one of the Lessons tracks, but it might be ColdCut.
pop locking, animation (ticking), breaking . 1984 ..bak then it was Westcoast electro funk and ice t/ grandmaster flash/ and run dmc. 1981-1983.. great stuff.
I'd pay good money to hear any of todays so called DJ's cut shit up like this . What has happened to music its crashed downhill big time . Calvin Harris or David Guetta would shit thier pants if asked to attempt something of this calibre
This is the 1st time I've heard this version of Play That Beat in almost 40 years. I used to rock this in my Datsun 200SX.
98.7 kiss fm Xmas night

0:56 What's track after "It's The Joint"?
It sounds like one of those Italo Rhythm track albums. They all seemed to use the same drum machine.

Woah, and then Whiz Kid took this and sampled "Now we come to the payoff" in "Cut it up Whiz" ft. YSL
I like this but I’m not sure how Bernie Hancock rock it was added in this as one song?
