I said this during the time and people ignored me. The key was bosh. He was able to shoot from deep and long mid range on offense, but play big enough on defense that you wouldn’t bat an eye at him playing the 5.
He got cooked alot on defense by other centers though 🤷🏿♂️
Yea let’s not revise history. Miami defense was great cus of the perimeter defense and versatility. Bosh was getting cooked by Hibbert in the paint

@@SafarizonedI think it’s because the power forwards role is generally diminished when Lebron is on the floor, especially when he was more of an inside out player like he was before. Also in regards to Kevin and Bosh they went from #1 to #3 option on those Lebron Teams. Made them look crazy
@@cane2486 The defense was built to accommodate that weakness, because honestly only Hibbert was a true threat there and the era of the dominant big was over. Bosh just had to manage against the smaller positions (so many clutch blocks against smaller dudes) and Lebron was athletic enough to help down low against bigger offensive threats.
LeBron definitely should have been the first guy since Jerry West to win FMVP off the losing team in 2015. He averaged 35.8/13.3/8.8. He single-handedly won 2 games against a 67-win team (which at the time was tied for the 6th best record in NBA history). Lebron's best teammates were Matthew Dellavedova, who averaged 4.8ppg that year, Timofey Mozgov, who averaged 9.7ppg and J.R. Smith, who was good for a whopping 12.1 that year.
That series LeBron was by FAR the best player, but the next 5 (Steph, Klay, Dray, Iggy, and Harrison Barnes) were all on the Warriors.
He rejected the award. He knew that it wouldn't get the same respect as Jerry West, because he's LeBron.

Not even close, brother. Don Nelson started it with the Warriors in the early '90s. It was called Nellie Ball then. That's why Webber requested a trade within two seasons. He hated playing center. Nelson did it again with the Warriors in 2007 - even ran Harrington at center at times.

"active" is an understatement. He is playing at an All-NBA/MVP level by normal standards. All that while he is the only player not only from his 2003 class, but the 2004 class as well. Only person from the 2005 class is CP3 who is a role player now, and only people from the 2006 class are PJ and Lowry, who are less than role-players now.
He has a drive to stay in shape and work on his game that Jordan and Shaq etc just didnt have. They both got fat and out of shape by the end (Shaq started that much earlier than the end though with all the mcdonalds XD). Probably similar to Kobe in dedication to the craft, just with a different focus.

Honestly, can you even be surprised by this? History shows that the best methods to win get adopted, this guy has made more playoff runs than anybody, of course other teams saw what he did and adopted it to their style. I always said Draymond Green is a Lebron-lite, lol, he doesn’t have the same amount of gravity and offensive force but the positioning is all there. Warriors are just a team focused on the shooting prowess of curry and thompson so you don’t see it right away but it’s all there.

I got to appreciate when my miami gets some kind of recognition, cuz it’s such rare to see moments like this.
That team had Shane Battier, LeBron James, and Dwyane wade at its defensive peak, probably the three best perimeter defenders at the time ('Rio and CB were no slouch either when it comes to perimeter defense). I've never seen a team just turn it on and clamp down on teams defensively when they needed to.
the 96 bulls were the same way and could also do the same with Harper, Jordan and Pippen on the perimeter Rodman and longley would give you fits too
Bron, yes. He was a menace. Should’ve won DPOY over Gasol in 12. Wade’s best year was 11. Was never the same after that. He was nice in 12 and was good in 13. Never stood a chance in 14. Battier was quite old when he came to the Heat but still a plus defender.

So he wasn’t even the best defensive big but won and then he had two teammates that made all defensive team. The overrated team (someone just broke it down accurately how Wade & Bron didn’t play GREAT D during their tenure outside of one year, & Battier didn’t lock down any greats) you just named, DID see such a team- the Spurs. Against the Heat. You only watched… NONE of their matchups? Also, we’ve seen the Bulls do it. Many times. We know of at least SIX times 🏆 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆We also saw the Spurs many years, more often than not. dwight just wasn’t coordinated enough to have a reliable post game. he tried years to develop it just wasn’t fluid enough in games to be effective consistently. what fans gotta realize is no superstar is flawless. dwight was dominant at everything else he tried other than post moves. kobe another example great defender but was terrible off ball and coming off screens reasons why rip hamilton and ray allen gave him fits in those 04’ & 08’ finals

I've been saying this since 2014. LBJ shifting to the 4 in 2012 changed everything to small ball. If you check basketball-reference, LBJ played the 4 from 80-84% in those years, and didn't go back to the 3 until playing with Tristan and Frye in Cleveland.

2012 was their best year from regular season to playoffs. They were great for most of that run. 2013 regular season was their best regular season ever but wade fell off a cliff in the playoffs.

I've been saying this for years, when Bron and Battier (especially) started playing the 4 it changed the spacing on the floor. Bron and Dwayne were bad 3 point shooters at the time, so they were not even shooting threes (like Ben lol) until the third year, and Ray was there.
overall they were bad about league average or a little bit below but bron shot 50,40,75 in ‘12-‘13 which is the same year he should’ve won dpoy over marc gasol

The Heat were basically just as injured that season as the Cavs were by the time the finals rolled around, though. Bosh retired after that year, Wade couldn't stay on the court, and the Heat missed the playoffs.

Don Nelson and mike d'antoni revolutionized small ball by using nowitzki and stoudemire at the 5. Dallas only did it in stretches but phoenix was fully committed. I think nelson even used small ball in the run tmc era.

fascinating bringing up how dwade/lebron would be a catch and go guy on the wing. I can’t ever recall seeing that as the norm before, usually that wing was always spotting up to catch and shoot, not have you on your heels attacking a close out or even set defense so quick/cutting off that. Not everyone can obviously replicate that but it made slashing wings seem pairable

I really dislike how everyone just gives Steph Curry for “revolutionizing” the game when in reality it’s A LOT more teams who did and had a bigger impact than Steph, the Steve Nash and Mike D’Antoni 7 seconds or less offense, the Dwight Howard led Magic with shooters around him, the big 3 Heat, players like Chris Bosh, KG, Dirk, KD all players and teams that had a HUGE impact on the game today even before Curry became a superstar

this actually was not entirely their fault, they were basically black listed from trading or signing a true center. They would try and try and but they could not land a center.
This what I've been saying maaan. Its not the Warriors that started the small ball. It was the Suns with Nash/Amare era. Then Miami Bron era because they would play Bosh at Center, Bron at 4 and the rest are guards / shooters.
Bosh pulling Hibbert to the perimeter in those Pacers series are why we won those years. Without small ball and floor spacing the Lebron era Heat are not the same.
This specific conversation needs to be forced upon the eyes of basically everyone on the couch that talks sh*t on any NBA player and thinks they can do better. Miami always been a flawed team specially in 2011, first time new head coach and first year together. They were only winning cause of talent that year. But Spo was outclassed as a coach in the Finals.
