My highlight this year was truly this trip to Japan. It's been years since Pat and I travelled with just the two of us. Even though we spend so much time together everyday, being able to explore a totally new environment with one another was indescribably special ☺️

Nicki, Australia. The highlight of the year was I finished my PhD in STEM. I am originally from Burma but lived in South Korea and South Africa before settling down in Australia about 5 years ago. And despite various life challenges such as losing my Mother at 19 when I was already living abroad, I managed to get myself a PhD this year. My late mother was on her track to completing her PhD but she quit as she gave birth to my older sister so this year, I managed to fulfil her dream and mine

I'm Alice from France, and my highlight from this year is obviously my grandma's 100th birthday. She lives on the Réunion's island (12 hours flight from Paris), and her birthday was the perfect occasion to have a big family reunion and holiday, it was beautiful and emotional. I feel lucky for these memories. Have a nice day Hilary !

Nádia, Finland. This year I’m finally making peace with living abroad, having to deal with actual winter season and darkness during many months, and dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. I moved here from Brazil right before the pandemic, and alone. Being away from family, friends in such a dreadful and stressful moment was an incredible challenge. I’ve been learning a lot, found a family here - a dog, a partner, friends - and I’ve been healing from inside out. It was my second trip to Japan and it made me so so happy to show my boyfriend some of the places I loved the first time around and to discover new ones together - also all the delicious food was just the best and seeing the full cherry blossom season was pure magic!

Aye, when you said you collect snoopy figures from Happy Meal, that instantly reminded me of all the snoopy figures I used to have back when I was little! When I was 1 or 2 years old, my grandmama from Hong Kong always came to the mainland to visit me with goodies, and that included happy meal figures! I kept them until I immigrated to Canada and those figures were given to other relative's kids as toys. Back in the day, Happy meal figures were big and very high quality. I still remember they were at least an adult palm size big compares to the teeny tiny ones I see nowadays in NA.

I’m Marie, from Germany! My highlight this year has been finding my love for hiking! I grew up in the alps and as a child I never liked going outside much, never mind hiking up a mountain… But now that I’ve moved away from home, I’ve been missing nature so much that I challenged myself to go hiking at least once each week. And I’ve been loving it! Nothing beats the view you have after hiking up a hill/ mountain! Getting back in touch with nature has been my highlight this year and I definitely wanna continue it going into the new year 😊⛰️
Tamara, Germany. My Highlight was our moving from a appartment we lived in for 6 years to a cute rental house with a small garden, trees and friendly neighbors. Here it´s quiet and relaxed and lots of nature surrounded us. We see and hear the birds and this morning we had the first snow (now it´s melted but I hope it will be back soon :)

Big outing with the youth group I used to be in as a teenager. I (along with 3 other people that used to spend all our time there) now organized a week-long trip with a bunch of amazing activities and even invited a band and a dj for a concert for the final evening. We planned for almost a year and everything went smoothly, we had such a great time and our hard work paid off so well.
Diana, Ireland. My highlight is a DIY project inspired by your channel! I put up some faux panelling in my parents sitting room recently. It's not perfect but happy with the results for my first time using a mitre saw! The room is still a work in progress but I can't help but feel proud every time I sit down to unwind after a long day! I am happy I can help give my mom a space she can be proud of!

I’m Victoria from Montreal. The highlight of my year was when my mum came to visit me for the first time since I moved to Canada 1 and a half years ago! I took some time off work and spent so much quality time with her around the city and in Quebec. As I’ve grown older my relationship with my mum has only grown stronger and I want to cherish time with her even more now than ever especially because we had a tough relationship while I was growing up! I’ve always said I don’t want to have kids, but when I’m with my mum I start to feel like I’d love to have what we have with my own children some day 😂

I'm Tea from Croatia. Even though my year has been pretty monotonous, I would say that the highlight of it was travelling during summer with my friends and boyfriend. Almost every week for a month we would go on a one day trip to the coast of Croatia and just hang out and enjoy the sea and the sun. I would love to repeat those types of trips next year too!!

Not only I got to be with him, but I was able to travel back home after 4 years, see my family, say goodbye to my dad before he died and see my mother who has cancer. My name is Michalina and I’m from Poland, and my highlight this year is visiting Finland, meeting my favourite Jari-Matti Latvala in his home-museum, plus sightseeing Tampere. During my stay I mostly slept in the forests in my trusty tent 😅 because I went to see Rally Finland. I don’t travel very much so every chance I get I try to squeeze as much to do as possible! Watching other people travel is also fun to me - it’s almost as I travel with them.
Bonus highlight is I bought the Cities Skylines 2 game and what city map does it have? TAMPERE. If this isn’t magic, then I don’t know what is!

My highlight this year is all the unexpected traveling: I quit my job in January in hopes to pursue a more fulfilling career and, despite not knowing what the future may hold, I decided to go traveling. I did the Interrail (Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium, England & Scotland) with my little brother, who tried flying for the 1st time, and I'm currently in Nepal. I've been enjoying your channel from every single country I've visited. Thank you so much for your dedication!

Astrid, Spain. I love the idea of making ppl share their highlights of the year. If I have to pick one, it would being able to re-choreagraph a contemporary piece with a friend after a previoud experience that had gone very wrong & being able to perform at a festival, on an open space. It made me feel courageous & fulfilled (a second, sillier highlight is finding my dream wedding dress hehe).
Kimmy, Germany. My highlight this year was finding the strength to deal with mental health issues head on, though that's been more of a continuous process rather than a single event. Still, progress. Baby steps! Two steps forward, one step back and on I go.

Juliette, from French Polynesia but living in the Netherlands. For years I had this strange feeling that my 27th year something amazing would happen. It’s all nice but then it comes with expectations..! Best thing happening to me this year (maybe a bit boring?) is to have finally figured out what I really wanted as a job, going to my manager about it and making it happen…! I am incredibly lucky. There are still so many things I would like to do for this year, but I am also learning to let go, take time for myself and go at a slower pace.
