I remember back in the day getting a list of cheats for Descent 2 and being confused as to why there were multiple codes for the same effect. Turns out about half of them would cripple you by draining all your energy and shields and dropping your health to 1 instead of what they were listed as doing. So that was fun going through and figuring out which ones weren't harmful. Also, I believe Ziggurat did the 'classic DOOM codes ruin your life instead of help you' thing as well, in homage to Heretic.
I remember playing Revenge of the Sith with a friend, he was under the impression that the Supersaber cheat made them slower, so he'd input it every time he played

The infinite lives cheat from the later 'Rogue Squadron' games comes to mind. It works as intended, but since the game keeps track of how many times you die, it doesn't actually make it easier to earn medals.
I'm really glad you guys featured a TimeSplitters game. They deserve a lot more attention. It's such a good, polished series (though the original game is a bit rough imo lol)... 11:24 "Heretic was game also published by ID software" I'm sorry but no. It wasn't. It was published and developed by Raven Software who used the ID engine to develop it. I've never used a lot of cheat codes other than "funds" in the original pc SimCity and SimAnt I've always been terrified the cheat mode would activate and there would be no way to get it back to normal
The coffee video was a masterpiece. It retroactively ruined everything else in life with how masterful the cinematography was performed... Perfection at its finest, truely.
Not gonna lie, I kinda love the idea of GTA where everyone is as hostile to you as you are to everyone else. And it honestly serves you right. Now I said the IDEA. I suspect it's not nearly as fun to actually play
I love the Jellen content. If there's ever a video with Mike, Jane and Ellen, I hope there are some "Magellan" jokes....Mike Jane and Ellen....M-Mijellen....ok it sounded better in my head
In Star Wars flying action game, Rogue Squadron, there is a cheat code called "chicken". This make you play as an AT-ST, a slow grounded vehicle. This makes the game pretty much impossible as you are unable to... well... fly.
Doesn't that code make you you play with the AT-ST in a specifically designed bonus level, though ? I vaguely remember such a cheat accessible level where the goal is to remove a village from Tatooine's map, using an AT-ST.
@@Daefaer Yes, CHICKEN unlocked a small bonus level where the goal was to destroy everything. It was actually really fun. However, there was also a cheat called ACE that made it so enemies are tougher and you get shot down in maybe 2 hits. It only lasts until you turn the game off, at least.
Congratulations to Ellen for the most graphic, yet apt, description of a bad curry. Nearly-forgotten PlayStation 1 title _Star Trek: Invasion_ has a 'one-hit kill' cheat that, predictably, makes it possible to dispatch any foe with a single shot. The downside is that it's now easy to break the game by obliterating story-critical hostiles that normally flee the battlefield alive. Speaking of obliteration, this cheat also has the side-effect of making the player's Valkyrie fighter utterly vulnerable to collision. Any impact with a solid object is instantly fatal - even if the 'invulerability' cheat is also in play.
TimeSplitters 2 and 3 had another body-altering cheat that made things harder - Cardboard Characters. Characters would become preposterously thin, as would their hitboxes. Try scoring 100 headshots now.
I know Grand Theft Auto was already called out, but the Riot Mode in GTA San Andreas broke cut scenes, since pedestrians would still run up and start fights with the other NPCs in the cut scene. This completely broke my game when, after a date, the cut scene got stuck when dropping off the girl since she was supposed to walk in to the house, but instead got out to fight the crowd. The cut scene could only end when she walked in to the door.
There was a cheat code you could enter in Guitar Hero 3 that made the notes go 500% faster than they normally do. They still appeared at the proper time with the song so it didn’t distort it but if you now had to be super accurate when hitting the notes.
@@KirbyCom another is labeled korma. At the very least what we see poured out in the clip isn't Tikka masala. Too thin and Tikka masala doesn't usually have vegetable chunks in it.
@@Reject101Personal Well they also covered the cheat in Heretic which does exactly the same thing; pointlessly kills the player. If that was included, this one is fair to mention also.

SimCopter: "give me money or give me death" You enter an amount of money that you want. But the more you ask for the more likely you get 'Death' a Pop-up appears that says "Death!" and your game closes, not giving you a chance to save.
Yeah the money cheat has always been tied to potential disasters in Maxis games, even SimCity 2000 they had a chance of causing a random natural disaster (the smaller amount was less but also only like 250 bucks, while the 500k one it was almost guaranteed, lost an arcology to Godzilla more than once.
It's nice to see _Heretic_ getting some attention. Interestingly, if you type in IDKFA, the cheat for all weapons, ammo, and keys in Doom, the game will take away all of your weapons and ammo ,another little tease at cheaters.
Most ceats are reversed in Heretic. I didn't know that IDDQD killed you, I'd have thought it would reduce your health to 1 point. But I'm probably confusing it with a different game with cheats following a similar idea. IIRC, some competing games (Theme Park vs. Sim RollerCoaster, Doom vs. Heretic, etc) had that feature, esp. in the 1990s.
@@achtsekundenfurz7876 No, it's just IDDQD and IDKFA. A few other cheats are interesting references to things, like the walk through walls cheat being "kitty" as a reference to Katherine "Kitty" Pryde from X-Men, who can pass through solid objects, or the give all weapons and ammo cheat being "rambo" as a reference to the titular protagonist of the Rambo film series using a wide array of weapons, but IDDQD and IDKFA are the only cheats that are direct inverse references to Doom.
@@achtsekundenfurz7876 Not to my knowledge. Following the logic of inverting _Doom_ cheats, the cheat for that would likely be IDBEHOLDL, as that gives the light smplification goggles in Doom, but as far as I'm aware, that doesn't do anything in _Heretic._
In the Simpsons Hit and Run, there's a cheat that makes your car into a monster, blowing up all other vehicles in a single tap. It makes the missions where you have to whap an enemy car multiple times literally impossible, on account of the chickens or whatever being destroyed in an explosion
It's cheat codes like these that remind of the wise words of classical composers Fall Out Boy who spoke, "I only wanted fun, but now you've got me all fucked up. Oh no."

Surprised given Ellen's love of Lara Croft exploding Lara wasn't on the list... or with the new Saints Row coming out the cheat that made every car try to run you over
I recall that Tomb Raider 1 on PS1 had a level skip cheat that, if attempted in Tomb Raider 2, would simply cause Lara to explode.
Is a cheat code a cheat code if you don't end up cheating?
I guess you end up cheating yourself from having an easy time with the game...
That's a type of cheating.
I guess the real cheats were the cheats we made along the way.
Aha! I knew it, Ellen didn't gave Jane back after she borrowed her for SOTWe!
Jane, if you're in danger comment twice
I remember there was a money cheat in Zoo Tycoon that would backfire by making u rich but made the fences degraded much faster which allowed ur animals run rapid through ur park
Aren’t we forgetting the infamous Banjo Kazooie cheats that can delete your save data?
The Silent Hill one was amazingly hilarious and I'd never be able to deliver it in a straight face. Jane, you are outstanding!
I know! Though she was as disappointed as baffled by it if she was understandably looking forward to something good from the Konami code which you usually get instead of a man old enough to be heather’s dad nearly half naked
God mode kills you in Heretic? Sounds about right.
Nobodylikesme is the kind of cheat you tell your friends about as the "best cheat in the game" and then laugh maniacally.
I'd phrase it as "Most hilarious", not best. :D
"Go to Quarry Junction in Fallout New Vegas for the best loot" *starts giggling*
@@bezerkoid I heard it's an exciting place with plenty of loot. :D
The first boss fight in StarWars Episode III: revenge of the sith is a tough boss fight to begin with, so Duku having a super saber makes it seem like it might not even be possible.
The "everybodyhatesme" cheat is what grove street games used when they ported the GTA games. Every. Single. Time. going back to 2011.
Jane's "Really?" face at the sound effect in Silent Hill 3 is just perfection!
There's also the classic "Exploding Lara" cheat in Tomb Raider II.
I remember it it kinda funny
The infinite lives cheat from the later 'Rogue Squadron' games comes to mind.
It works as intended, but since the game keeps track of how many times you die, it doesn't actually make it easier to earn medals.
I'm really glad you guys featured a TimeSplitters game. They deserve a lot more attention. It's such a good, polished series (though the original game is a bit rough imo lol)... TimeSplitters especially deserves attention since there's not just an authorized fan game in the works, but also an upcoming official TS game made by some of the original developers.
Man, the truly most terrible cheat code is the one Outside Xtra researchers use to spawn their content. Thanks for reminding me why I don't click these videos XD ...feckin having devs having fun with video cameras and one that is just a basic skin swap...
My favorite part of this video is when we got to see the coffee being made.
what is your CRAZY CHEATCODE
1:your credit card number
2:the CRAZY numbers on the back
this is a joke btw
Timesplitters is still one of the best FPS series I have ever played. Custom versus maps plus the challenge modes made for some amazing replay value plus FPS god skill development. Ricochet gun and the right map build make for some of the most epic of fun and choas that still brings a smile to my face when playing with friends, screen peaking will not save you if you miss...
11:24 "Heretic was game also published by ID software"
I'm sorry but no. It wasn't. It was published and developed by Raven Software who used the ID engine to develop it. They also made another game on the same engine with the same fantasy setting named Hexen and later developed Hexen 2 and Heretic 2 on the Quake Engine.
I've never used a lot of cheat codes other than "funds" in the original pc SimCity and SimAnt
I've always been terrified the cheat mode would activate and there would be no way to get it back to normal
SimAnt was such a fun game. I still remember getting anxious about it raining. Played it on a Mac SE/30.
The coffee video was a masterpiece. It retroactively ruined everything else in life with how masterful the cinematography was performed... Perfection at its finest, truely.
I remember the GTA one as my elder brother and I were trying out all the cheats as kids and we ragequitted because of it xD🤣
Top Gun Maverick was the best AAA title in a very long time.
Ahhh Time Splitters 2, it had some of the most unbelievably weird cheats and they were all amazing.
I just find the image of your character in gta3 getting sent to the hospital, getting released, then getting sent back by paramedics repeating forever
Not gonna lie, I kinda love the idea of GTA where everyone is as hostile to you as you are to everyone else. And it honestly serves you right.
Now I said the IDEA. I suspect it's not nearly as fun to actually play
The one in GTA SA is even worse as the code is broken and it never turns off properly, making certain missions unplayable
It's called GTA Online
It's fun if your not doing missions. I had to start a whole new game because I had the Riot mode and pedestrians have random weapons on.
That Silent Hill 3 cheat code and Jane's reaction to the sound it made when correctly input are priceless.
I love the Jellen content. If there's ever a video with Mike, Jane and Ellen, I hope there are some "Magellan" jokes....Mike Jane and Ellen....M-Mijellen....ok it sounded better in my head
Who’s saying Revenge of the Sith is divisive in 2022? It’s a certified banger.
Am I the only one seeing the Lair cheat as a "hot coffee" cheat reference?
I hadn't thought of that, but yes, now that you mention it that's what I'm thinking it refers to.
@@SolaScientia i mean... you're seeing the coffee get hot. :D
also the code is apparently a different way to write hot coffee
"At least they're not complaining about traffic anymore."
I see this as an absolute win.
Don't be body shaming Douglas. He's loud and proud.
Jane's disappointment at the...ummm...sound made by the Konami code is a whole mood.
Time Splitters 2 had so many things to unlock. Loved that game. Can't wait for them to reboot the game one day.
I could listen to Ellen curse all day. The word bullshit sounded like music coming from her because of that accent lol!
The one shot kill code in star wars battle for naboo. It gives the enemy the power to kill plot important allies in one shot.
There was a cheat code you could enter in Guitar Hero 3 that made the notes go 500% faster than they normally do. They still appeared at the proper time with the song so it didn’t distort it but if you now had to be super accurate when hitting the notes.
The 'Chicken' cheat code from Lair is extra terrible for those people who have previously had and enjoyed real Chicken Tikka Masala
pretty sure that Chicken Korma actually
@@Ringadon To me it just looks terrible, whatever it is being called.
@@Ringadon It's labeled CTM for Chicken Tikka Masala, so I assume that's what it's TRYING to be at least
@@KirbyCom another is labeled korma. At the very least what we see poured out in the clip isn't Tikka masala. Too thin and Tikka masala doesn't usually have vegetable chunks in it.
@@Ringadon looks delicious to me O-o'
Honestly I don't think the first one needed much of an explanation, could have showed that one clip and I would have instantly understood.
What about that "nude Laura Croft" cheat that made Laura backflip and explode?
I see autocorrect has struck again.
Didn't really make things worse though did it? These cheats cover ones that made the game harder or generally worse. Not ones that were pointless.
@@Reject101Personal Well they also covered the cheat in Heretic which does exactly the same thing; pointlessly kills the player. If that was included, this one is fair to mention also.
I feel like my own life includes at least a half dozen ‘Jane Sighs’ (seen for example at 9:41) per day, so eminently relatable. Hang in there, Jane, ‘old girl.
8:03 Ellen made a curse! *clutches pearls*
You haven’t seen her personal channel’s videos like her Bioshock play through or Dead Space 2 or Andy ‘helping’ her through Resident Evil or Layers Of Fear for Fear Academy. If it surprises you she made a mild curse 😂🤣😂🤣
@@oxfanblink4115 Haha, no I've heard her curse before. Usually on these list videos they bleep curses, so one getting through was funny to me.
Have we ever had a video with just Ellen and Jane before? Because this was great, and I want more!
We have but before the show of the weekend before this list last time was when they chilled in Animal Crossing together
@@oxfanblink4115 I saw the show of the weekend, but I was thinking specifically of a "list" video.
more games need unlockable cheat codes (for non-competitive games/modes)
preferably without removing the ability to save or earn trophies/achievements....
I can tell Ellen didn't watch Maverick because if she did, she'd know that movie was phenomenal. Even dragons couldn't have made it better.
Love it! Though this is going to tempt me to buy these games and try them all😅
'Spinning in violent circles like a paranoid owl' are not words I thought I'd hear strung together.
Great video, ladies! As someone who grew up in the big head mode era, I still live in hope for a "7 Best Big Head Modes in Games" and/or "7 Games That Would Be Improved By Big Head Mode" list. Just in case you're looking for ideas.☺
Chin Dralig appeared in the Star Wars the clone wars animated series and made a brief appearance in The Book Of Boba Fett in that one scene where u see through Grogu’s perspective as the clones attack
Jane and Ellen have taken over OX Towers. Everyone bow down to our new overlords! (Or is it “overladies?”)
Can we just appreciate the fact that the Jedi Anakin fights with the green supersaber @14:25 was Cin Drallig? Great trolling. lol
@@SerathDarklands Isn't there another with night vision that turns everything black until it wears off?
Oh no."
9:40 sounds like she's just had a refreshing drink
