Overall pretty darn good! Only thing I would do differently is find and mark the center of the roof on the front side, and the back side, then the windshield and the rear deck of the trunk. Align the center marks on the roof with the center marks on the windshield and trunk deck. Tack the centers, then go through with welding the sides. That way the alignment would have been perfect and probably save you a little time a few steps ahead.
At first, I wasn’t sure about the roof idea, but holy Smalley does that make this build jump !! Bad Chad has something a lot of people do not have and that is a vision and then he’s able to take that vision and create it. I think that’s what makes him extra special versus other fabricators. Just my opinion. ✌🏼😎🫡🥇🥇
Don't mess with the front end , the 444 and the 544 had this 40's look but were quite speedy, my 544 actually won a race against an MGB. Does it still have the window shade in front of the radiator that you raise on coldly to get the heating started until it's up to temp, then you release the pull chain on the dash. keeping you comfy. A pretty funky process that quickly disisinagrated. Most ares soon are takes out. Wonderful idea that seemed to fall apart.
You have a very good opinion the roof is a waste of time and to me it looks like 💩 let's just move on to a new project a good thing I can fast forward through the video so I move on to a nether channels video
When I used to build and restore cars I would do a think session sometimes and just sit looking at the car from different angles sometimes for hours just detailing and visualizing it. Usually had a beer or 2 as well :)
If he had lowered the back of the car to get his 'stance' in the 1st place, he would NOT have cut down the rear of the roof by too much. The original sail panels that he cut off made a MUCH better transition onto the rear quarter-panels, and there was a more appealing slope to the roof, compared to the current 'dive'. He should weld the sail panels back on and recover the rear window that is now an eyesore. Bad proportions will trouble the eyes of viewers forever.
Love the way the roof is looking!! Might it be an option to get rid of the forward post of the door?? Would make the opening look sensational and you don't really need it there when the roof is off either...food for thought. Cheers, Tony
Chad, Jolene, & Fina, how is everyone doing? I like the roof as long as it stays removable Chad the car looks good both with and without the roof on it. If it was mine I would not want it held down in more than 4 places if possible because the more of a project it is to take it off the less likely I would be of switching it back and forth! Jolene nice work both helping Chad and with the video as always!
Im liking the roof now. Looks pretty cool. I wouldn't go with that small back window tho. Looks way to small and silly. Maybe bring it up the roof more. But the volvo is looking cool as hell. With or without the roof. Awesome video Jolene
Car looks cool just my opinion but roof looks a bit low at the back or it's the angle it meets the trunk the line doesn't seem right but you do such an amazing job on these it will probably look great when it's done you remind me of a sculpture making a piece of art 👍
I really like the roof. 😎👍 Great job I don't know how you want to make the rear window but I wouldn't put glass in it, I would just make some openings like louvers. Something similar to the shutters on the windows at home... In this way you also maybe favor the exit of the air that comes in laterally
Love the line of the roof, reminds me of the Audi TT, but totally works. I'm hoping you keep a sliver of a rear window, even if, ultimately, you may not be able to see out of it. Fire build so far! 🔥 🙌🔥
At 52:18 the hose laying on the hood looked like it would be a great design to put in the hood. Cut in like side scoops. check it out and tell me what you think
I'll tell you what I think when you finished the roof Chad. Because I know what you are like for changing your mind. If you know what I mean. Any thing is possible with you. you have a adventurous mind. so It could lead to many alterations. I will comment on the rear window view it is to short in depth. needs to be a little larger maybe just a tad narrower.🙂👍
Mr. Chad, If you were to weld 2 long bolts on the front of the roof were the posts and car meets. On the car a 2" - 3" long pipe on both sides for the bolts to go through. 2 locking washers and 2 wing nuts possibly may hold it together. The back of car roof could have 2 long bolts welded to it that slide into 2 holes into the car and you put 2 locking washers and 2 wing nuts from in the trunk. Holes in back will need to be slotted because once you put the front on ,getting the bolts to go in holes in the back would be difficult if not slotted at a angle. Doyle
Looks great!! I think you should put 3 pins across the front of the top, that slide into holes across top of window frame and then put a peg in each rear corner on back of top, that drop down into peg hole receptors on the top of the rear fenders, on each side rear pillar. Weight should keep it held down then. Would be 2 for 1, great looking convertible and or hardtop!!!!
The Volvo looks cool with and without the roof chad and Jolene you will have the best of both worlds with this one keep up the great work the both of you
Chad , I had a brain fart about top % Rear window .. Do the Lex sand bubble trick so it will mimic the conjure of your roof . Of course you will need a rear pillar and a lower base / But the surround you will make will add to the look and give you a much larger rear window . Also if you were to 2 tone the car and have the top black , the tent on the glass will look invisible . My preference of colors for the car would be Black at the top and 1968 Chevy Champaign Green with a Turquoise pin stripping . Let us not forget white walls and Floating baby moons .
It's looking good the roof on it looks bad bad to the chassis Chad and Jolene you guys have an awesome day I'll see you guys tomorrow same chad time same Chad channel
The small curving front piece of the window frame should probably be removed. And fix up the shape of the A pillar. I know the piece has a nice shape, but with no other window frame, it's just an out of place piece.
Ian has more credibility as a person…in his little finger…than you have just proven you have in total. Why would he be laughing? Why would he care? Unlike sooo many haters (you included) he’s doing his own thing.
Thanks Bad Chad for always entertaining and educating us,wether we agree or not the show is always entertaining.
cool red is cool and so are you
I can’t believe how close Chad is on his ”eyeball” measuring. That’s talent.
The eyeball will tell you if it looks good or not

Looking Good!, That fit was incredible!
Arrmm maybe because that's where it came from !!! LOL 😂

Nice work. Can’t wait to see the finished project!
😂 lol 🤣
Looks great , let the man have fun. He's doing what he enjoys,
Money is why he does it,, why do you think all of a sudden, there's spare cash to buy all these new. Toys,
Looking awesome guys. 👍
Bad chad and queen Jolene on camera good team work together.👍🏾
It looks so much better with the to on ! Good job Chad !
Thanks for sharing; not sure if I like or dislike the looks yet, but an interesting build so far! Beatiful and talented helper as as always. tc guys!

The front roof line is looking surprisingly good.
Love the artistry! Really cool design. Very talented. Thank you.
Fantastic engineering on this one, Chad!
i've ben saying all along to scrap this removable roof idea and move on. just my opinion.
A great opinion 👍
You have a very good opinion the roof is a waste of time and to me it looks like 💩 let's just move on to a new project a good thing I can fast forward through the video so I move on to a nether channels video
Dump the roof. It does nothing for this build !
Great video. Thank you very well done
Looks Awesome , Can’t wait to see it Done ✅
Awesome, Thanks
When I used to build and restore cars I would do a think session sometimes and just sit looking at the car from different angles sometimes for hours just detailing and visualizing it. Usually had a beer or 2 as well :)
Enjoyed watching you fit the front edge of the roof.. metal sculpture at its best 🙌
Hi chad & johlen always keeping it real 💯
Lawn art game stepping up
Go for it Chad removable so it keeps the nice line it has👍
Weird 🚗 and I like 👍
Top
Cool stuff
Protractor and follow the windshield line would of worked. Looks awesome!
Chad you do great work that car is gonna be bad ass when it's finished good things take time you and Jolene make a great team doing great work
The top is looking good Chad and Jolene 👍👍
That looks awesome, Chad
I think rounded T-Top would look awesome on that. Awesome job Bro It looks beautiful.
Go for it Team Hiltz 👁🐅👌
Super job chad
I still think the back of the roof needs to come up about 3 inches
I agree😂 6:37
Me too.
I think it needs to come up about Three feet and sideways about one hundred feet .

I think the fender skirts need re-shaping to mirror the shape of the fenders
@@paulalebon2718 or, reshape the front fenders
Looks awesome to me
Nice 👍
Looking good so far keep going.

You didn't Doug made it that way ..
Right Rita
Im liking the roof now. Looks pretty cool. I wouldn't go with that small back window tho. Looks way to small and silly. Maybe bring it up the roof more. But the volvo is looking cool as hell. With or without the roof. Awesome video Jolene
He mentioned a while back…filling the gap at the back of the roof where it meets the car…and cutting a rear windscreen in further up.
In good days 👍
Nice flow
Hi Chad and Jolene, I really like the look of the car . I think you created something beautiful out of that rusty Volvo. Nice job 👏.
Car looks cool just my opinion but roof looks a bit low at the back or it's the angle it meets the trunk the line doesn't seem right but you do such an amazing job on these it will probably look great when it's done you remind me of a sculpture making a piece of art 👍

Yes, I see what you mean, kinda cool.
😢😊
Looking good
I like the Detachable Roof.

Do away with the roof ,keep as a convertible 👍
Do you know what the word, convertible means?
Removing the roof would not make it a convertible. It would be a roadster.
@ 👍
What value is added to the video with the pushups?
ZERO!
Why is it bothering you so much that he does push ups. You don't have to watch that part.
@@Aaronlewis8846 For the same reason that my comment bothers YOU so much.
Chad + Jolene, So Far so Good! The front of the roof looks fine if the back comes together as well it will be perfect! Cheers!
On a roll today!

Good evening everyone
We’ll have to wait and see what happens, roof on roof of..only time will tell..😊
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You should put Volkswagen style split windows at the back or a more radical Corvette split style windows at the back
Ore old Volvo PV split Windows from older PV
Love this car the top is perfect

What are you thinking? Cut the top of the doors, up the A pillar? That's what I'm thinking too. 👍
Like your show Chad and Jolene
If you squint your eyes, then close them completely....it looks Great!
Even better with eyes wide open, Michael. Give that a try !!
We don't need to know your thoughts on your wife this is a car video
I like the roof line, but I care for the removable part. It will look really good to make it a fixed roof.
I LOVE IT ANOTHER GOOD ONE IT WILL BE
Fits well I like
SWEET CHOP!
cool
I thought you said you were going to do the stepside on the driver side I see it ain't done yet. LOL must be nice to work one hour a day.
They work more than just one hour a day. We only get to see that one hour. They still work when the cameras go down.
The roof is looking good! The fender skirts look like a cow pie that stuck to the fender ! Take the time make some to fit the opening please !
The best volvo ewer. So sweet. so slick
I really like the line of the roof , it really goes with the car now
He should make it a hardtop and forget a "convertible".
Hell yeah , much better roof .
Looking good 👍
I think... you guys are awesome.
IAN ROUSSEL ,If you are watching this please stop laughing .
Ian has more credibility as a person…in his little finger…than you have just proven you have in total. Why would he be laughing? Why would he care? Unlike sooo many haters (you included) he’s doing his own thing.
A center mark on hood and windshield and the roof top line those marks up go from there forwards or backwards.
With all the rain we have been getting I think a roof is most important, a.must have
I like the old car 🚗 that going to be a nice ride. God Bless 🙏 you and Jolene and her family to. From Jim and is family to
👌
Top on small window then a nice bright paint job glue white black rims
