Another thing is herpes(cold sores, tounge spots and chicken pox) there are people that carry the herpes virus withoit knowing, kiss the baby anywhere (head, hands, feet) or just touch the baby after touching their faces. Herpes (though fine to us ) can be fatal in infants

its not only time for the mother and the baby to bond, its also health related as fresh newborn babies are especially susceptible to sickness and disease that normal kids and adults wouldnt even be bothered by. so it kinda is a “buffer” period for babies to build their immune system!
