It's crazy how much space was left unused all over Cyberpunk. My hope is they expand on some of these abandoned ideas in Phantom Liberty, possibly. Or maybe some future updates.
it's only crazy because designing an actual city-sized virtual landscape is crazy. it's just a video game bruh, people have to make this shit remember - its a job
It’s normal for an open world to have ‘unused’ space. Especially one as intricately crafted and dense as Night City. People seemed to have completely unrealistic expectations from it. They completely bungled the launch of course which allowed valid and invalid criticism to be thrown their way, this being the latter.
I'd say that the garage area of the H02 might have been planned to be something like a Japanese capsule hotel. In the ttrpg we have two basic housing options from back before the Red. 'Coffins' as they were known, were the classic capsule hotel in its most basic form. A 6foot long foam mattress (stained) inside a preform plastic box. Came with built in media (a ‰ chance rolled to see if it was broken or not) such as mini TV and radio. Power outlet and phone connecting point for net use. Associated areas for communal washing, eating and laundry. Storage lockers could be rented too (another dice roll to see if the locks were broken lol) These were the bottom a basic cyberpunk could start out in at the beginning of their gameplay, if they were not living in a squat (generally only Nomads started in squats I think tho, or couch surfing with a fellow Nomad that had room) 'The Cubes' these were basic rooms. One basic 6foot bed with storage underneath, and a cubicle with toilet+shower+sink. A little more costly per month to rent than a 'coffin', but it had the bonus that you had a working, lockable door and private washroom facilities. Same entertainment options (lower chance of being broken) and communal eating areas. Your average choom moved up to these if they got a couple of paying gigs, and survived. If you didn't waste your eddies on expensive pre-pack food or net-line rental, upgrades or iron, you could maybe move on up in a few months lol. The placement of the doors in the garage made me instantly remember those places lol. If they copy the current map over to the next game (isn't it easier to do that with Unreal5?) then I'd expect this spot to be maybe where multiplayer was planned/might still end up in the sequel. Imagine spawning in here in cyberpunk 2 lol, if they had a separate multiplayer gameplay section.
I think they really need to make more zones instanced. (loading screens be damned) They mentioned something about having more detailed areas causes a performance hit.
As I put to your H10 video. CDPR could/ should release a cp77 'phantom liberty' sized expansion just set within the megabuildings. No big 'save the world' storyarc, just a bunch of smaller side stories. As each megablock is all one big building, each megablock interior could be loaded separately to the rest of the game. Yet you can use the megablock spaces to fill out more world-building; more apartments & apartment personalisations, more V lifepath details, more time with Jackie before he goes, more time with companions & friends, more unique NPCs &/or companions, more pets, more shops & fashions, more gang & police stories, just more immersion... Simply put more LIFE for V to inhabit.
4:08 I would love to see a mod that opens that area. Could open up after a few main quests to make it seem like the elevator was actually fixed. And maybe a cool fan made sidequest could fit down there as well. When I first played the game I thought you could actually go down there. Quickly discovered that theres a death barrier so even if you dont die to fall damage you will die anyway.
It’s a mod that lets you access the entirety of mega10. The elevator is on but i think the mod conflicts unlock night city in some way because i can’t use it to activate the elevator. The panel is on but the options are not there
I'm guessing that the Megabuilding asset itself was made with the intention that they could be fleshed out and expanded as needed, with the aspiration of making them fully explorable.
Your videos are very informative to me. Thanks for these. What you think have zero information are actually part of a quest. Not all areas but a lot of them.
Megabuilding H06 has a almost complete copy of the H10's interior. Marketplace, the 2nd Amendment store, the gym. V's room is not there though, predictably.
It's not unused if they're still producing content for the game. It's common to stage things in the game, so you don't have to do massive changes later.
Goddamn it would be so freaking nice to have like an online map that anyone could manage and expand these parts. Or like the casino or any other abandoned parts that are many now that i realized watching your vids. Also would be cool to have some new missions just to lighty explore the new parts like in skyrim modding... ah, so much potential still...
I wonder how many stuff that seems unfinished were actually cut since early in the building stage. Since we learned some of the troubling development stages of this game. Along with how the demo was a surprised order from the management. I mean, even now, we still haven't got the car customization.
hello dear sir donnith I am incredibly high on any of your videos, and I really hope that with the release of the expansion there will be more such vids, love ya 😍😍 by the way, when you finally activate your windows?
Much appreciated sir, yes I can’t wait for the expansion to see what goodies I can dig out. Windows will get activated when police AI get added to the game
Think its a reference to 2000AD. Back in the 1980's, when the game came out (1988) there was a comic called 2000AD that had 'Judge Dredd' in it. They had huge, town sized tower blocks in it called 'MegaBlocks' or 'MegaBuildings' You might have seen one in the film 'Dredd' called 'Peachtrees' Game probably couldn't handle a real town sized population version, so we got these smaller ones.
@@Jon-ub3km far as I know, the H01 and H02 were built just after 2023, to house the workers that rebuilt the city center. Around that time, many thousands were homeless, and so something had to be done. While the workers cleared the Hotzone in the center (after the full Borg workers and responders had done their work) others worked about housing the homeless. That's one reason you see so many cargo containers everywhere. They were repurposed for housing, and many were never removed (lol, like the trash I guess) Believe it or not, the Aldecaldo's used to have a good rep with the City. Santiago and his clan helped out a lot, shifting containers and bringing in goods (smuggling lol) they even did cattle drives to move meat to the city (this was before synthmeat became the norm., Folks used to grow stuff on rooftops up to around 45ish, but once the synthfood started to get more profitable, the Corpo's started concerted efforts to blame 'organic' stuff and say it's not safe. You can still hear the adverts/announcements in game lol) After the first Blocks became a success, they built more. They were cheap and affordable housing, before Rancho Corronado was built to house suburbs. Which of course, became slums once the middle class folks moved back to areas of Heywood like Charter Hill with their Corp owned appartments and housing offers lol.

i can see pacifica being expanded upon in phantom liberty but definitely not for the megatowers unfortunately
Trash heap, north oak casino, Metal Heaven, Doc Paradox hidden bunker, militech building. If they unlock more verticality then we're game
Or sequels.

6:53 it does go somewhere it leads to one of the iconic clothing items and also a dead body
Song list? Love the Barberbeats and Vaporwave.
1:15 love how the corner shop is called pierogi which is polish for dumplings

Would be cool if a modder could make a 4th floor hallway or something that has an apartment you can rent.
There is, check out the mod called Megabuildings Expanded, and the author has other works too, that expand other game world areas.

These videos, and the music you add, makes for such a perfect late night dab session. TY much and big smoke your way.
Nice man glad you’re enjoying :)

welp I guess it's now officially unused then
Yeah. Game development is a fluid process.
*Gamers with shocked Pikachu face.
in the sequel they need to add every single one removed feature from the original trailers, I can't stand how much is missing

I'm assuming that the markets kill you even if you try to access them with noclip? Just curious how much of them is actually finished.
yeah, it is possible to get down and walk for a bit but any sort of elevation kills you instantly
check the ncart station outside of Vs apartment and how parts of it are accessible but parts are locked
I’ve checked that out before, give it a watch here it’s interesting th-cam.com/video/bDkGvguVMAo/w-d-xo.html
