The Great Ayrton Senna in Donington Park with his inferior McLaren [ 1.5 slower than the Alain Prost Williams by Adrian Newey, in April 11 1993, in GP of Europe, [ His first lap has a commemorative plate there] in lap 25 lap every body. @@joseavsWhere Max didnt have the fastest car, in difficult situation, under pressure by everyone (press, drivers, fans) he showed his class on exactly that moment
What amazed me was that Max was the only title contender who didn't make any mistake despite all the pressure that was building up from, sprint race penalty, race qualifications, and finally, grid penalty. what a beast!
Not just no mistakes. He toyed with everyone, by setting fastest lap after fastest lap... He's just finishing up sidequests while others are only halfway through the main game.
Even above his driving skills is his metal toughness. I have never witness any sportsman withstanding so much pressure and never buckle. You just can not get to him. What a diamond!
one thing i've noticed with max for quite a while is how easily he's able to pass through the pack when starting from lower grid positions, it's just effortless, spa 2022, jeddaj 2023,miami 2023 and this race.
In few turns he was ahead of Perez. There was a moment the commentator thought the Red Bull car was Perez, because how could Max be there already? Only after he looked closer then he corrected it lol
Brutal conditions, everyone was struggling and making mistakes, Alonso, Hami, Charles, Russell, lando many times, Perez spun. @lowerlaptime Honestly it's very annoying that Mercedes chose to ignore him when he specifically said that it was going to be a red flag and that they should stay out multiple times. They lost out on a victory, 100%. Max was ready to settle for p2 when he was behind Ocon, he would've done the same if George was infront and George doesn't f*ck up SC restarts.
I became a super-fan of Max after I saw the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2016. Great video. I thought you also added in your previous video that his short corners allowed him easier cornering and his braking kept his tires warmer (radiating energy) to keep his tires with more grip. This explained why Lando with a better car/larger downforce (but colder tires?) and longer corners (less grip) was not able to replicate this performance. But the big add in this video is that max is just so mentally strong - he does not let pundates "Max is out of control" views live in his head and keeps focussed.
It makes sense. Drivers who put more load on their outside rear tire are surely more likely to spin when they hit a pool of water, or deviate slightly from the tracks left on the racing line. (Or touch the white painted line due to a wider arc when turning in).
Truely an EPIC drive. One not only for the history books, but as a Master Class in driver training. I know he is not well liked, but he is not there to make friends. This drive will have to create the respect he deserves.

He always had to drive on slicks when it rained. This is the way his father 'jos' learned him at a young age to get the right feeling. Somehow he managed to develop the talent to find grip even if there isn't any according to most of the drivers Thats pure talent

Ahaha. We're all finding our way - Cameron didn't invent the english language either :) Ill be on with him soon to disect further :) Appreciate the love :)
@@lowerlaptimeHowever Cameron is reinventing words which most of us have no idea of their meaning. For example, can you explain "techie" as he chooses to use it!
Just discovered you in the video of Cameron…. Love you’re detailed knowledge about racing(I love racing, MotoGP, f1, endurance). Thanks for the teaching.
People mention Brasil 2016, but even before that, he showed he is special in the rain. In only his second qualifying experience in F1, in Malaysia 2015 in his Torro Rosso, during almost monsoon conditions, he qualified 6th!! That was a sign of things to come.
In Max's case he's drawing on his 2016 knowledge... but.. it's about trying sometimes as well. In 2016 under the safety car you see max SEARCHING around to feel different parts of the race track, almost like a dog sniffing for information. That's how Max knows and how he finds out. Check out my pinned comment for more.
Great post race review. I think Max has made it clear he means business for last 3 races. If Max in Vegas just places in front of Norris - he will be 4 time World Champion . Viva Las Vegas next race. I live in California- would go to race but unfortunately the big hotels buy up all tickets and make you buy a package from them: room, seats $5,000 person low end. Or just a ticket $1500 . Since it is night race I will watch on tv as get better all around view of race. I have been to Austin, and Hockenheim 2018. But in US after Covid tickets are crazy expensive. Sad because I would go. Cheaper to fly to Europe and watch race than go in Us.
If you look at the on-board cam of Max during the start, you see that he starts from 2nd gear. Update: just saw more starts from driver cams, seems all the drivers started from 2nd gear.
One of the Dutch analysts former racecar driver Jan Lammers, mentioned this as well, saying that was the best thing to do considering the circumstances.
The fact that Max knows how to handle a racecar in the wet is because his dad (the demon everyone hates) taught him how to handle a racecar in the wet. Sometimes with a carrot and sometimes with a stick. Nothing wrong with that (I'm Dutch, maybe we are tougher than the snowflakes who think Jos was a bad father).
Max is one of the few that can give really valuable information about the car to the engineers. Most drivers just complain about the tires, oversteering, understeering, or brakes. Then they need to rely solely on the engineers to make the changes and adjustments.
No longer the fastest car, but he clearly is the fastest driver out there right now.. What a masterclass, but also Ocon and Gasly out smarted mclaren and ferrari.. They drove a good race and props to ocon to not repeat a certain year in brasil. 👍
Mclaren and Lando was totally oblivious about Max because he was starting at the back. Their strategy was to cover George Russel, after he jumped Lando at the start and led the race. McLaren only realized that they made a mistake when both Redbull of Max and Alpine drivers stayed out. When max led the race, McLarens did not have any answers and Lando started to fold and commited several mistakes because Max pulled a Maxterclass race from start to finished and the rest as they say, is history.😂
Often in corners, there's more grip off the line. Max realised that with the new surface, this wasn't the case in Brazil. Plus he clearly had a car that he could trust.
WOW!! Max Verstappen never stops amazing me!! Some say he was lucky with that red flag, but he made that decision to stay out, while Lando came in for new tyres. But even if he pitted he would've win it. 17 fastest laps, continuesly 1,5 sec faster then anybody else.
To put it in perspective in sport there is talent ,you are good or you are bloody brilliant on a diffrent level that is Max ,the rest is good witch includes Norris😅😅😅😅😅
Were it the words of Lando, that "Should have Max started from pole, he would have doubled all of us". Correct me if I'm wrong. Apart from that, I really like it, that (although obviously British, more likely even English) you don't have this negative attitude at Max as a lot of (British) drivers, papers and even officials. I didn't hear much of criticism by those people, when in 2021, I believe, Hamilton drove Max off at 300+ km/h at Silverstone and not even asking if he was OK. And then the last race of that season: Obviously Lewis Hamilton should have become world champion, but than again, Max made the most of a discutable decision of the, what'd you call it, race principal? The guy who was fired later. Of course, he often searches for the limits, but isn't that what all drivers should do? Remains the question whether all drivers are searching for the same limits. I doubt that. Here in 2024 we saw about the same 'pushing the limits' as he did in 2016 ("...this boy finds grip anywhere..."; according to some commentator; I don't know his name.) Fine job! Greetings from Netherland. (Sic; no 's'.)
Was the bib fixed throughout the race? Were the rear brakes minus the spring and bearing? The FIA scrutineer was celebrating with the Red Bull team in the pits and he wasn't even Michael Masi. Strange.
It was not crashing into anyone whilst advancing through the grid and the rest of the race thus potentially not taking himself out with other drivers . Congrats
Super Max! On a sarcastic note to Norris, let’s list the luck Max had: 1. A Dubiously timed red flag in Q2, and staring 17th on the grid. 2. The number of overtakes Max had v/s Norris because other drivers whom he overtook were just unlucky with rain letting Max overtake. 3. Max was lucky to keep his car perfectly aligned on the track and lucky not to have any spins and swerves on the track where as other contenders were unfortunately unlucky to keep their cars on the track. 4. Max was lucky to have his RB team and the entire universe as a supportive force that aligned with him, especially in forecasting rains and assessing drivability. Again Max was lucky that they didn’t make a mistake to pit early. Other teams were not lucky with no support from nature and universe.
Excellent breakdown of how Max drove a masterclass drive in Brazil. You would think smart people (drivers) would look back at his drive in 2016??? Oh well I guess they are not smart enough, and would not be able to drive as Max did on both occasions. Martin- what are your thoughts on McClaren ( Norris) taking a new ICE before end of season? Would be 10 places for Norris? Also- I think that Marlo - explained a few races ago in Mexico. That Max was 10-12 kmh slower than Norris on straights, and that they were in need of a new ICE. It did and has paid off for Max. So is it in the cards for McClaren for a new ICE? It is game over for Norris anyways with WDC.
I saw Max taking tighter lines and clipping curbs during the race; why would that impact downforce and the different way in which it's generated by the floor though? 🤔
Its basically saying that "I dont value minimum speed and wider lines to keep downforce alive" ie these cars generate a lot of downforce in the upper speeds but not much in the low end. So therefore Max values more shortening the circuit a bit and finding cleaner, less- rubbered in traction zones. Good question see my pinned comment for more.
@lowerlaptime Ohh okay, so Max is actually trading the greater downforce generating wider arcs in the slow corners, for tighter lines where the better traction is on the circuit? And the downsides of that strategy are less significant because in general, these cars generate less downforce at lower speeds..? Edit: just watched your new video, looks like the better exits allow for higher downforce in the following mid/high speed corners as well.
This was Max driving with vengeance. There is no way an objective person can look at his performance and not come to the conclusion that he is a tier above everyone else on the grid. Above Lando, Piastri, LeClerc, Sainz, Russell, Hamilton, and Alonso. He’s cemented his position with the likes of Senna and Michael now.
Mate excellent information! 2 questions for u: who wouldve won the gp without the red and who wouldve won the gp without the last yellow? I reckon Ver and Oco instead of Rus or Nor and Ver.
Thank you! 1 - Probably Max hey. Champions find a way. If it wasn't red it would have been safety car? Max can then leverage more restart skills. And ultimately he's keeping the tyres alive. He's got too many weapons to play with 2 - Not sure what you mean RE last yellow sorry!
Excellent view on matters as they are. Not a single mistake from Max, a heap of mistakes of Lando, a very good race of Ocon. Max, on top of a very high mountain, others (including Lando) halfway the mountain. Where absolute excellence is proven, where ‘close but not close is obvious. However, Max is not there yet. Few more races to go. Lando was very disappointed direct after the race (who wouldn’t) he will be on realistic ground today. It is quite clear, he isn’t ready to defeat Max (yet). Lando might be better than the rest but hasn’t the the touch of the magister. Max and Lando in equal cars, it will be Max over and over again, and that doesn’t take away anything of the very high skills of Lando.
Lol Max approach to corners is well known, it's just not as easy to adjust too and Max will always be more experienced with it. Max was already driving under wet conditions in his go kart when he was 7! doing laps at 50mph on wet tracks. Most countries don't allow their youngest drivers drive under such dangerous conditions.
Before this race it appeared that Red Bull car led by Max Verstappen was not fast enough for the last few races. What went wrong and what were the correction introduced in the Red bull car? Were Verstappen/Red Bull making errors in those races where he lost?
OMG, and the poor Lady Hamilton had to (according to the Commentators) fight with one hand behind his back etc. etc. Seems like he is the only one who had to run the race in a Porsche Cup car.
I just wonder why did no other driver try the lines Max was Driving. If it is only that, why did Sergio Perez not do this. Because he can't or because his car is setup differently ?

For example, can you explain "techie" as he chooses to use it!
Agree Nothing to add
@@TheRealMichaelAndretti Yeah no idea, but I got tired of the clickbait so I had another reason to unsub anyway.
Just discovered you in the video of Cameron….
Love you’re detailed knowledge about racing(I love racing, MotoGP, f1, endurance). Thanks for the teaching.
Awesome, thank you!
People mention Brasil 2016, but even before that, he showed he is special in the rain. In only his second qualifying experience in F1, in Malaysia 2015 in his Torro Rosso, during almost monsoon conditions, he qualified 6th!! That was a sign of things to come.
i understand that the best drivers always know where the grip is but what i want to know is
1. How do they know?
2. When do they find it out?
In Max's case he's drawing on his 2016 knowledge... but.. it's about trying sometimes as well. In 2016 under the safety car you see max SEARCHING around to feel different parts of the race track, almost like a dog sniffing for information. That's how Max knows and how he finds out. Check out my pinned comment for more.
great video!
Sorry to hear!
Thanks for you nice podcast
Thanks for the analysis. Hope you can keep the same honesty in future race analysis videos.
Big video just out
An instructive description of this race with many hardships.
Crazy how all the greats are so lucky.😂😂.
😄😄
Crazy how some people don't understand how to build their luck.
The only thing he needs now is a teammate that he can swap race position with. Oh no, wait.....
Lucky?? Even without the red flag he would've won young lady
Ultra Max 💪🏻
Most amazing is the surprise Max causes. You all should have known by now.
True
"New FIA/Verstappen rule"
-You're not allowed to finish first if you start p10 or higher... #FIA 🤌
😂
Nuff said.
Keep up the good work! 👍
Amazing video
thanks mate. Do you know what happened with the Lando penalty (the wrong start)
They give him a fine of €5000,-
yeah 5k fine. Unbelievable that should have been harder.
@@lowerlaptime WHAT?? lol.... this helps more with the conspiracy theory against MAxi lol
History indeed
👍
History, so are Lando's dreams of becoming WDC.
There's a slim chance for Lando, I reckon, but the momentum started to shift and it favors Max.
great video
Thanks for sharing Tim. The micro learning instead of doom scrolling helps me alot
Why is it that most drivers take the outside of turn1 and Max manages to take the inside?
Because hes overtaking everyone, every lap 😄
Often in corners, there's more grip off the line. Max realised that with the new surface, this wasn't the case in Brazil. Plus he clearly had a car that he could trust.
Great video. F1 is a game of inches, and the inches are between the ears.
WOW!! Max Verstappen never stops amazing me!! Some say he was lucky with that red flag, but he made that decision to stay out, while Lando came in for new tyres. But even if he pitted he would've win it. 17 fastest laps, continuesly 1,5 sec faster then anybody else.
Machine!!!!
Here in 2024 we saw about the same 'pushing the limits' as he did in 2016 ("...this boy finds grip anywhere..."; according to some commentator; I don't know his name.)
Fine job!
Greetings from Netherland. (Sic; no 's'.)
I think from looking at the data the RedBull was also getting crazy downforce under braking. But Max drove a perfect race, nobody can question that!
@@pchris6662 what data bro!
Max, Race God and Raine Dancer. He's not just "fast " but above all incredibly consistent.
I saw a locked wheel on max car in turn one.
This being said, no mistakes. Epic racing.
Machine i didn't see this! Did he go deep?
@@lowerlaptime right after the start first corner
Was the bib fixed throughout the race? Were the rear brakes minus the spring and bearing? The FIA scrutineer was celebrating with the Red Bull team in the pits and he wasn't even Michael Masi. Strange.
It was not crashing into anyone whilst advancing through the grid and the rest of the race thus potentially not taking himself out with other drivers . Congrats
If we (simple souls) can remember him passing Rosberg in 2016 in that corner, why can't the other drivers? 😂
haha oh my god. I know RIGHT??? how much are they paying these blokes. Let me in!
EDIT: maybe social media? fame? so much other distractions
Super Max!
On a sarcastic note to Norris, let’s list the luck Max had:
Lol excellent summary
Now i finally know his secret technique. He brakes later. Why didn't I just think of that. I could have been world champion /s.

You would certainly think so! Im not sure about the drivers engine pool etc sorry. Ill have to brush up on if Lando has to take one
He's got too many weapons to play with
2 - Not sure what you mean RE last yellow sorry!
Real Championship drive!! Master class.
Martin brundle had an incredibly sore va jay jay post race😅
Only the best make no mistakes in the rain
What is up with the sound? Are you using an octaver to make your voice sound lower ?
Yes.
Eagor to learn from the best.
Before this race it appeared that Red Bull car led by Max Verstappen was not fast enough for the last few races. What went wrong and what were the correction introduced in the Red bull car? Were Verstappen/Red Bull making errors in those races where he lost?
This is what sky and other hate media have to talk about, instead of all of the negativity they spread about Max! Its all in the details! ✌️
Red bull was using their brake bias trick
Aka Max Emilian Verstappen
OMG, and the poor Lady Hamilton had to (according to the Commentators) fight with one hand behind his back etc. etc. Seems like he is the only one who had to run the race in a Porsche Cup car.
George is almost doing to Lewis what Max is doing to Checo... It's bizarre. 😳
I just wonder why did no other driver try the lines Max was Driving. If it is only that, why did Sergio Perez not do this. Because he can't or because his car is setup differently ?
@@bonno666 did you see my most recent video on wet lines?
