Even if Max *did* get lucky, that’s such a hypocritical thing to say. Lando got incredibly lucky with the red flag in qualifying which put max way down in P17. Lando has such an unlikeable personality
Max's lines were incredible into turns 8,10 and 12. His corners so short / turn in so early that the front right tire was well off the rubbered line for the entire braking zone, making the grip more equal left to right. I noticed it when he got behind Charles Leclerc, at least half a cars width tighter into 10. I think this is where the majority of his braking confidence came from and it was amazing to watch. Would love to hear your opinion on this Martin, thanks for your analysis!
Hello! Yes i agree 100% . The tight line allows you to put less load through the fronts also .. so its not sweeping in from so far wide. Gently approaching the corner - beautiful driving

Great analysis Martin. I saw your previous video also and will group my comments here regarding Franco. From his very first day in F1 I feared the effect of his massive media “appeal” would have on his concentration. It got worse when the absolute frenzy followed. At first I thought the Williams team had his back and would steer him away from so much exposure and shield him, but obviously they can’t or choose not to (perhaps the sponsor deals and subsequent demands are too tempting??). Then I saw the event with Bizarap (the night before the Saturday event!!!) and feared the worst. I’m afraid at this point it’s out of control. Too much for a young mind to deal with, he’d have to be a robot not to succumb. I agree 100% with what you say: he needs protection urgently with coaches that bring his focus back to the driving. I will look in my contacts and find some one that might get to someone… etc (7 degrees of separation, right?) to get your videos to him. He needs help urgently. Keep up the great work!! Best regards
About your point at 12:22, I understand what you are saying, but I think it was damage control from McLaren, because at this stage McLaren's main goal is the WCC. However I think that McLaren is not managing the issue of its drivers well, for example in the sprint Max could have taken the SP1, but this time Lando was "lucky", because of the late VSC. About the GP, a legendary performance from Max, a Maxterclass... and I think Franco should stay at Williams for another year to gain maturity.

Lando was the one asking their pitwall for pitstop twice to gain a position on Russell, VSC happened they took the option but only error they did was boxing a lap late and even when he was called in they were not looking at the HAAS ready to run on it own. It's a dual error by McLaren in one incident. It shows they are not reactive fast enough and the proactive approach was already lacking the whole season.
Martin: Max is a master in the wet. - i.e. 2016 wet race here in Brazil. 6:11 Plus Norris should get a penalty for infringement at start double yellow. Max is just overall a better skilled driver. No DRS, just driver against driver. Max would have won anyways - as if he was say P6 he could have lapped drivers. I think Norris out of contention for WDC. Viva Las Vegas Go Max. Put Lawson in car right- Perez needs to go just like Ricardo. Team point can be made by Lawson before end of season, also get experience in the faster Red Bull car for next year.
Nice observation about franco and his team. He asked for wet as everyone did and after he crashed they waited until the rain stop a little haha. By the way, do u think this two crashes affected his image of "amazing rookie?" If u know what i mean. Like, if he had some chances to go to any team, maybe there isnt anymore?
Argentine here, although I have an almost native level of english I appreciate you taking the trouble of explaining everything in spanish. Where did you learn spanish from? Cheers!
@lowerlaptime Self taught? No way, that's great for someone who learned without someone teaching them! I'm from Buenos Aires province, I actually live very near Fangio's museum, and our families are kinda close, just a fun fact ;)
Still think his 2016 drive was better in the circumstances, he was still pretty much a rookie, only being in his 2nd year and not even have driven a full season for the team. Yet, giving the entire field a lesson in wet weather driving.
Max may beg to differ, Martin, for him it was apparently very much about "lap time", he was clocking fastest lap after fastest lap as if his life depended on it. Which ever point he was trying to make he well and truly hammered it home. 😀 (Was it 17 times in total Max improved the fastest lap? I've lost count... but yes, I do get your point, ;)
I follow sailing and that was a classic match racing mistake by McLaren. Always be between your opponent and the finish line. Don't try anything different, just be there.
You have many hypothesis no facts on Colapinto. Your are missing a big part of the equation: Car set up. Also, I can see you have poor knowledge of that for this level of Engineering. Talking fast does not validate what you say.
Martin: your thoughts on this? Colapinto to VCarb and move Lawson up to RB with Max. Colapinto doesn’t have a drive for about 2 yrs ( as Sainz) goes to Williams for 2025. Perez is horrible no points - Lawson will surely get points for RB last 3 races.
This weekend again showed colapinto isn't ready, crashing twice, while yuki and lawson got screwed when on the correct wet tyres, when safety car was sent out instead of the field also needing the correct tyres for the conditions
Colapinto crashed too much in the last races…. He is not ready for a full seat. Let him be reserve driver for Williams a year…and then learn learn learn
Watched/listened to the full COL onboard. Why did Williams push him so hard in his 1st wet race? When it really started raining hard (L30) they needed to listen to Franco. He had already gone off @T2 3 times (due to understeer in T1) and once @T4. Then L30 Jego cuts him off and says "Trust us. We know what we are doing". A few laps later big crash. The team was great for stopping Franco from moving at the false start, but they really sucked for making sure that he was driving within his own limits, especially when it started raining really hard. Franco's big lesson. He's the pilot. Don't let them push you to take their car past your limits. Imagine its his first wet race and its against HAM, PER and SAI.🙄 I think Franco did an amazing job despite being told to overdrive the car. Does anyone have an idea what Williams actual pit stop strategy was? It didn't seem like Williams had one.
I think, since COTA, franco lost trust in the strategy dept because they wanted to start on mediums and franco said no i want hards. I thought gaetan was saying things that were directionally correct, like, stay alive, trust us, dont make mistakes - he was 100% right. But franco lost trust already like i said. So the strategy engineering there are the root cause in my opinion
@@lowerlaptimeColapinto needs to trust the strategy team…not get in discussions with them. He is a rookie! He needs to zip it and simply do what the teams says. The team knows the characteristics of the car better than he!!
I know it 🤦 but let me ask you this sir or madam - was it for a title? Was it for p1, even? Were there mistakes in that 2016 drive you mentioned? You may want to answer these and come back to me with answers
@@lowerlaptime The 2016 drive was a masterclass as well. And he was only 19 back then, teaching the others how to drive. Insane! Therefor: i disagree with you. You adding questions doesnt change that, mate. Agree to disagree, no need for butthurt situations.
The one thing about McLaren that I can’t stand is that the whole HQ property and building. It’s just mind numbingly sterile, boring, and oppressive. You can sense the searing pain from the complete removal of everything interesting and beautiful. I can relate to anyone who wanted to fertilize the property.
What are Lando Norris' strengths? Still need to find that out. Lando has the best car atm. That's a strength? All the other driver s would probably get the same performance out of his car. Max is in the upper echelon of F1 history. Raw skill that operates in "the matrix". Generational talent. In comparison: Lionel Messi sees stuff that other footballers don't see and can perform on it. There are a lot of great footballers that are very skilled but they will not go down in history as Messi will. Same goes for Max.
i guess they were asking lando to help because oscar helped him yesterday imagine giving up your deserved win in the sprint so ultimate bottle job lando could be 1 place above you in 6th after starting in first and somehow shipping like 16 points on a guy who started in 17th with a worse car its nearly as crazy as thinking lando is a no1 driver.
Lando: coming in for new tyres was good choice, max was just lucky.. Brittish media was already on the plane before race was over. Luck had nothing to do with it today. Where almost everybody had issues with driving, max was so fast.. We have seen 1 guy in a league of his own..
@@lowerlaptime oscar showed him the previous day how to defend from pole, by cutting across early, but once again norris didn't really move over and left the door open.
Sadly Franco had his worst weekend, i notice that he had no experience at all in wets for the qualy, first time on rain on an F1, sadly ending in the wall as he probably did not dosificate quite well the throtle in turn 3. After that incident, you should stay focus and bring the car home in the race, as there were 2 big money loses for williams atm (Albon's crash). Seeing the onboard camera he was entering too fast in turn 1, bloking the tires for a couple of laps when Lewis was behind him, and then in other turns going wide lost some terrain againts faster cars that were behind but that they were also very inestable (like Lewis sainz and Ollie) so it was a matter to just keep alive the car and maybe some point will come. Willams messed up with the pit stop i think just the lap before the safety car on Hulkenberg, release him with intermediates cold tyres and that was not the moment to push full throtle i thing. His crash in the middle of the straight was really painfull and a big error from his side. Now everyone supports Franco big time, but thats no argument to defend him in this as i think it was 100% drivers fault on both drivers williams to not deliver in this race.
@@2marner Nah, Max is a beast, his way of racing today was top. Probably best driver after Senna along with schumager. Lewis for me is a step behind even having all his championships. Regarding Colapinto, i think he should improve a lot on rain, i will always say that who is good in rain no matter what is a good driver, even if you dont win in dry
Told all these know-it-all mumbling fans yesterday that today will have absolutely nothing to do with the classifying or sprinter or whatsoever! Today was all about the driver's abilities!

Put Lawson in car right- Perez needs to go just like Ricardo. Team point can be made by Lawson before end of season, also get experience in the faster Red Bull car for next year.
His wet race in Brazil 2016 already was a masterclass.
Even Niki Lauda then took his cap off for father Jos Verstappen.
Tru
Nice observation about franco and his team. He asked for wet as everyone did and after he crashed they waited until the rain stop a little haha. By the way, do u think this two crashes affected his image of "amazing rookie?" If u know what i mean. Like, if he had some chances to go to any team, maybe there isnt anymore?
I like this channel
What did you like! Thanks!! 🤛
What a race! I feel very sorry for Franco, the pressure on him was brutal and the team didn't help enough.
A shame hey! I wish i could sharpen him 😪
He made himself believe the extreme hype. That’s up to Colapinto himself….
Argentine here, although I have an almost native level of english I appreciate you taking the trouble of explaining everything in spanish. Where did you learn spanish from? Cheers!
@@ElRamaxx gracias! Where are you from in ARG ! I taught myself as you can see its terrible 😭
@lowerlaptime Self taught? No way, that's great for someone who learned without someone teaching them! I'm from Buenos Aires province, I actually live very near Fangio's museum, and our families are kinda close, just a fun fact ;)
Max 2016 brazil
Good drive but, not from last, not under championship pressure, didn't Win! I mean this is levels
(Was it 17 times in total Max improved the fastest lap? I've lost count... but yes, I do get your point, ;)
Yes this is true haha
Lap time PLUS all the other stuff.
Max made great calls good starts and had lap time in hand too. What a killer
Mars-tin 😅❤
@@berthobo3912 haha go easy on me im trying to provide value! Lando had the quickest car lest we forget! 🤞
"George probably feels like he won the race today, He deserved it more than anyone else"
Lando Norris running low on talent and class.
I follow sailing and that was a classic match racing mistake by McLaren. Always be between your opponent and the finish line. Don't try anything different, just be there.
100 PERCENT!
Thanks.
lando complain about change tyre during red flag rules. meaning mckaren intend to ask FIA to demolish this rules
Just discovering this channel, 9:00 in and I love it so far. Will subscribe
Appreciate the support!

Si eres de Argentina me gustaria eschuar tus pensamientos!!
You have many hypothesis no facts on Colapinto. Your are missing a big part of the equation: Car set up. Also, I can see you have poor knowledge of that for this level of Engineering. Talking fast does not validate what you say.
Id love to hear more about your hypothesis on.. my hypothesis? @@claude7473
Big view count. 👏🙂
I think perez should go but yeah i have i video on my thoughts on Colapinto to RBR check it out
This weekend again showed colapinto isn't ready, crashing twice, while yuki and lawson got screwed when on the correct wet tyres, when safety car was sent out instead of the field also needing the correct tyres for the conditions
Colapinto crashed too much in the last races…. He is not ready for a full seat. Let him be reserve driver for Williams a year…and then learn learn learn
@Redlingstein 👌💯
Max made a statement with this 19sec gap to P2…31sec to Lando …A STATEMENT TO LANDO and McLaren
Was class ay
He didn’t have temp in his tyres thus he was trying to push to get temps in… that’s his own job on track…. He made that mistake
@@lowerlaptimeColapinto needs to trust the strategy team…not get in discussions with them. He is a rookie! He needs to zip it and simply do what the teams says. The team knows the characteristics of the car better than he!!
Came in for some F1 analysis.
Left with a Spanish course.
Ah you got BOTH! 😁
'Best wet weather drive since 2008'? You had other things to do during the Brasil 2016 GP? Look it up, you might like it 😉👍
I know it 🤦 but let me ask you this sir or madam - was it for a title? Was it for p1, even? Were there mistakes in that 2016 drive you mentioned? You may want to answer these and come back to me with answers
@@lowerlaptime The 2016 drive was a masterclass as well. And he was only 19 back then, teaching the others how to drive. Insane! Therefor: i disagree with you. You adding questions doesnt change that, mate. Agree to disagree, no need for butthurt situations.
Mclaren did tell Lando he needed to stay out but apparently he had smoked his tires
Lando constantly asked them to pit him, after awhile they simply gave in to him. Listen to his radio comms. Max wanted to stay out. And so he did.
Impressive.
And a but lucky.
Max?
You have to be another whiney Brit
Like for the Spanish part of the video 👍👍👍
Gracias! Aprendiste bien?
The one thing about McLaren that I can’t stand is that the whole HQ property and building. It’s just mind numbingly sterile, boring, and oppressive. You can sense the searing pain from the complete removal of everything interesting and beautiful. I can relate to anyone who wanted to fertilize the property.
I fear Colapinto is another case of Nyck de Vries, I really hope that's not the case.
Ah he's pretty quick over 1 lap ill give him that but take your point
Disappointing race as a Ferrari fan, but congrats to Max on his 4th title, renault getting a double podium and mclaren choking.
i guess they were asking lando to help because oscar helped him yesterday imagine giving up your deserved win in the sprint so ultimate bottle job lando could be 1 place above you in 6th after starting in first and somehow shipping like 16 points on a guy who started in 17th with a worse car its nearly as crazy as thinking lando is a no1 driver.
Unbelievable message hey
Maclaren bottled it perhaps they should concentrate on what they are doing instead of finding excuses to get red bull penalized
Lando: coming in for new tyres was good choice, max was just lucky.. Brittish media was already on the plane before race was over. Luck had nothing to do with it today. Where almost everybody had issues with driving, max was so fast.. We have seen 1 guy in a league of his own..
@@bjornbdr 100 percent luck is preparation+ opportunity
I just don't get how Norris keeps losing pole position on the first lap.
Terrible starts hey. He was blaming the weather lol
@@lowerlaptime oscar showed him the previous day how to defend from pole, by cutting across early, but once again norris didn't really move over and left the door open.
@henrywilliams4170 100 percent this!!! Landos incredible ay. Just pay attention geez
Looked like Redbull was waiting for the red flag, did Colapinto just earn his seat in Redbull next year?
@@2marner Nah, Max is a beast, his way of racing today was top. Probably best driver after Senna along with schumager. Lewis for me is a step behind even having all his championships. Regarding Colapinto, i think he should improve a lot on rain, i will always say that who is good in rain no matter what is a good driver, even if you dont win in dry
@@2marner looking at how Bad weather was managed in the last years, they speculated on the Red flag because the Rain was way too much.
The boys benefit wins when THE MAN have car issues....
Max is one of the all time greats... Lando is not. Nor will he ever be. Not even in the fastest car can he beat Max...
Rain…..the great equalizer. Separates the men from the boys. Unfortunately Norris and a boy yet. He’s still a toddler.
Haha!
Told all these know-it-all mumbling fans yesterday that today will have absolutely nothing to do with the classifying or sprinter or whatsoever!
Today was all about the driver's abilities!
Was a very challenging race on many fronts!

This was like a Donnington 1993 event. Folks just don’t understand…
Levels!
Max is gonna take next years WDC too, we know Lando doesn’t have it, Oscar isn’t ready and Ferrari is going to do Ferrari things. There will be more wins from different drivers but Max will inch away with the overall.
But there is one thing for sure, Stroll is a Troll, omg if someone not deserved to be in F1 it’s him!
Perez a close second!
