This logic does not make any sense anyway with the current safety features. I get that when you turn it off it might be pretty insane... but that is your own choice. The 1290 can surely have more power and torque especially above 200kmh.. (this is my view/wish not a statement that the current engine can do it) Got used to this bike within a month and now its power on high speeds is pretty boring. although sometimes I have the feeling something is wrong with my bike..
I'm not a sportsbike person, but I honestly think KTM should do a fully faired super sport version of this, just so they have some road going tie in with the Grand Prix team.
They did that a decade ago. KTM RC8R. Had one. Loved it. It didn't sell well so they dropped it. The SDR does sell. And the SDR-R sold out in 2 hours. All 500 units sold and gone so this video is irrelevant now.
In order to be the best, they first have to develop a new V4 engine - better than Ducati’s and Aprilia’s. Everything else they are doing is just a styling exercise to impress the crowds with meaningless crap.

I’m a big fan of KTM. I own several of the dirt bikes and a 2018 Super Duke. However this “RR” should have a version of the RC16 to keep up with the other manufacturers.

My 2018 weighs less and makes more power... granted, I spent a TON of money on it, but I'm sure it cost less than this one will. The suspension and electronics will be better on this bad boy, but I'm sure KTM will expect an insane amount of money for one of these.
Damn I just purchased the 2020 ,them rims are just a beauty. The suspension is too track focus, losing that comfort ability. Wonder how much more? $6K more British that's like $10K Canadian. Having them making 500 units, will be a collectable machine.
I'll take the suspension upgrade, and all the electronics bells and whistles that come standard. But other than that, sorry, not worth the extra money. The regular orange super duke also looks better.
My Reservations on this Motorcycle including 2020 1290 R Model are PARTS AVAILABILITY here in THe USA !?? I have a 1290 and after 4 months of ownership, one of the Vendors where I work backed his Van into my Bike. It was all Cosmetic Damage but the Forks were scratched and when the Cycle Shop ordered NewForks they were told that they are Back-ordered !!??? My Bike is 2020 how can that be ?? It's been 6 weeks and I'm sick that I cant ride my Bike because there are No Parts available! I love this Motorcycle and it is truly a work of art, it's spring and I want to ride. I watch all the videos on The KTM super duke 1290 and I don't think I can watch anymore because it makes me feel so bad. I just want my parts. I want to ride. Georgia is Beautiful this time of year! I have a super duke, but until they come out with a v4 or a Husqvarna 1301 i will keep what I have. No real improvements over the gen 1 honestly. At least nothing you couldn’t do yourself.

As a true blue naked bike rider, this is now the bike I want - I was almost set to bite the bullet and settle for an MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR, but now here's a truly great, awesome bike from one of the world's greatest, and reliable manufacturers, and I won't have to put up with dodgy Italian quality and performance(fueling) issues, like I have suffered through on my Ducatis over the years. I emailed the owner of the dealership here in British Columbia, and he tells me that this is NOT a worldwide release, and it will probably not be available in Canada... Anyone out there know more about this? The dealer will be speaking to the Canadian KTM distributor tomorrow, to enquire if he can get one for me.

I love the superduke, and I think if I were to buy a naked right now it would be my first choice. But I don't get the point of this version. It makes no sense. If you are going to go this far for a track only bike, you would not use a naked bike. Also, this version does not look as good as teh standard orange model. The akro can also does not look nearly as good as the standard one. I bet the carbon parts are not responsible for much of the weight reduction. Most weight reduction probably from stripping off parts, and the lithium battery. I wish KTM would have used their time on something else. Hope the superduke GT comes out soon and is really a big improvement.
Why so many tech features inclined for performance on the circuit if this motorcycle is a naked? How will you manage wind on the straights with this machine, isn't this pointless? If you want maximum performance on the circuit, give this bike a complete set of fairings.

As an owner of an R, it looks trick, but not worth the extra dosh. Especially that Akra slip on - I’ve got it and it’s a $1500 waste. Sounds like a bloody sewing machine. Good on KTM though for releasing it. No doubt it will sell out quickly.

What they are trying to do is go head to head with the Tuono V4 Factory... except they are missing the V4 hahaha, which makes all the difference at high RPMs. Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory is a much better machine for less cash. I would buy that any day over the KTM.
