Skyrim: Top 5 Obnoxious and Irritating NPC’s You Shouldn’t Spare in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

- Skyrim is a game with a rich and diverse cast of characters. From heroic companions who will assist you on your journey, to tyrannical dragons bent on world domination, The Elder Scrolls 5 seems to offer every type of NPC one could imagine. However, with such a diverse range of personalities, there’s bound to be few fellows in Skyrim that will get on our nerves in some rather interesting ways. So today we’ll be taking a look at my top five obnoxious NPCs in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Specifically guards from the reach. I kinda enjoy the other ones but the Forsworn conspiracy quest makes me kill all of the Markarth guard whenever I go.
@@grapejuice5294 - if you want to avoid that, just don't kill any - let the Forsworn go to town on 'em, all while you just stay out of the whole battle. That, or, if you kill Madanach (while still imprisoned), and loot his body, you'll find a key to escape the mine. Once you enter Markarth through the exit of the ruin, Thonar Silver-blood will appear right in front of you, and will appraise you for taking care of Madanach, pay to eliminate your wanted status throughout the Reach, and gift you with an enchanted silver ring. I prefer the second option, for role-playing purposes.
Guard: "Don't suppose you can enchant my sword? Dull old blade can barely cut butter."
Me: Then go get it sharpened you freak, it's still gonna be dull even if I enchant it!!

I can solidly say that in about 75% of all Skyrim saves Nazeem can no longer visit the cloud district

Paarthunax should be killed anyway. He is a threat to humanity especially when the Dragonborn died. You see, Greybeards are the modern Dragon Priests. And Paarthunax might be faking siding with the Dragonborn especially that he knows Alduin will comeback no matter what. So to keep his dominance as a dragon, he is siding with the Dragonborn at the moment and when the Dragonborn finally dies, at old age or in battle, Greybeards as the modern Dragon Priest and Paarthunax can continue their dragon things, which is to rule all over the tamriel and slave humans.
It's better safe than never, killing Paarthunax is the best choice to do because you don't know their plans and even if you do, it's not 100% sure. It's freedom, or be a slave to a dragon just like the ancient Elder Scrolls times.

There is a mod that lets you destroy the thiefs guild and expel or execute Maven. Literally called "Destroy the Thieves Guild!" .

I had to look up who Nazeem even is because I apparently don't run into him that much, but, yeah, Heimskr I wanted to skewer through his frontal lobes about 20 minutes after I installed the game for the first time.
@@vitormaodevaca8469 sad thing is you have to keep away from the whiterun siege quest if you want to restore the thieves guild to their former glory as you always need to break into Heimskrs house during that questline and Heimskrs house always gets destroyed in the Siege quest..

I attacked Delphine enough that it made her hostile for the rest of the main questline. So I just kept calming her until I defeated Alduin and then I publicly executed her with the High King mod and now her headless corpse just lays next to my execution block.

I've never played the Dark Brotherhood storyline because they pissed me off with the Assassins that they send at the start of the game. But I do kind of want to after reading that.

Astrid was pretty annoying in my opinion.
Yeah, funny thing, every time I meet Astrid she ends of dead somehow. People who stick knives in peoples backs never were on my Christmas Card list.
I dunno, she seems very less annoying then say Festus or Arnbjorn.
I always let her live, she never annoys me. Nazeem now, definitely always.. And Rolff in Windhelm, and Lemkin, and that Solitude guy who never stops going "Don't talk to me!" like I am less them him, you know the fully armored Dragonborn with an enchanted armor set, compared to an measly Nord in an steel armor.

I killed her in the shake. Not a fan of being abducted. I did load again when I realized I wanted to do the dark brother quests but it was fun to kill her a true challenge

The cat proudly exclaims that he is a defiler of daughters when you ask him who he is. The nagging mother and the frightful mercenary aren't that bad.
The mother is awful, Vasha the cat is obviously worse (being a seasoned bastard) but I always kill them both even if Astrid herself lies dead. The merc seems genuinely remorseful and I can't help but pity him, especially when he starts getting his courage back upon being released and still thanks you for your efforts. But the mom sussing me out even after I cut her binds? Yeah nope - she gets the "Bane caving batman's skull with his fist" treatment

Cicero is understandable to an extent since he's mad. He's off his mind, literally. You can't really blame him. Wish that there was a way to make him sane again.
My only complaint is his voice. It doesn't fit him and, to me at least, his *voice* is what's annoying. Even Braith is better in that department.

Just a tidbit, if you never caught it. In the shack with Astrid, Vasha, the Khajit admits to being a thief as well as a murderer, and potentially even a rapist
That last one honestly surprised me. I always kill the Khajit because he's the only one that seems genuinely irredeemable in my eyes. Maybe thats just my hyper-empathy though?

Maybe not so much obnoxious as _loathsome,_ but Maven grinds my gears far more than Nazeem or anyone on this list. It's especially galling because she's essential, and is tied to so many questlines that it's not even feasible for most mods to touch her.
She kinda reminds me of Reaver from Fable 2, in that both are NPCs seemingly designed specifically to piss people off, but rendered untouchable from in-universe karma or any player that would love the opportunity to put them down.

Rolff is my least favorite. He goes out of his way to make trouble for the dark elves, and I was really annoyed that he was made essential.
But you can get Rolff thrown in jail by framing him for theft as part of the Thieves Guild jobs. Much better than he deserves; which is to join his brother Galmar and Ulfric Stormcloak in the Void or Sovengarde.
I just "setessential 0"-ed him and partied with the ebony blade.
Took his Essential status off, stalked him all the way to the Grey Quarter, and quietly slit his throat with a dull knife.
Just taking out the trash.

That armor merchant in riften is my most hated person since I interact the most with her

Farengar Secret-Fire is incredibly annoying. He constantly acts high and mighty/ talks down to you just because he's court wizard.

I hate the fact that when I am the archmage he still tells me to go to the College of Winterhold if I have the aptitude, and I just want to slap the living crap out of him, and then summon two Dremora Lords to chop him into little pieces.
I have theory that Farengar is actually undercover Blade. He gives Dragonstone to Delphine and Ebon Blade (last wielded by Hero of Kvatch) is in Dragonsreach, possibly brought there by Farengar when he fled Cyrodiil with rest of the remaining Blades.

The second npc saved my playthrough one time. I kept my vampirism level down because I could feed off of him without repercussions till I got a black soul gem filled.

Totally unrelated, but I really like Veezara from the Dark Brotherhood as a character. Such a friendly assassin (as long as you’re a member of the DB)
In the abandoned shack, I find the Khajiit much more irritating. Though the most irritating person in the entire shack is the one I killed. The one who KIDNAPPED ME IN MY SLEEP and dared order me to kill someone for no reason on her behalf.

Honestly, the most irritating NPC for me has got to be Eorlund Greymane, Since his one response is to asking him, "What have you got for sale", is always, "GOD'S BE PRAISED!"

There's a mod called something like "hammer time" that let's you loot giant clubs and disenchant the "super fly" effect. I use it on nazeem every time he mouths off.

I've never understood the hate for just nazeem. Almost every character you run by a lot repeats the same annoying line. I've had way too many chats with an old woman and I'm ready to burn down Belethor's store just so Sigurd will stfu.
NPCs talk way too much without being prompted, it breaks immersion. Bethesda better not repeat this mistake.

I always hated the Dawnguard’s Orc that walks around cities and recruits the protagonist. If only you’ve seen how frustrated I got seeing that ugly fuck walking towards me to give me that quest early on into the game... I did a decent bit of running to get away from him when I had to be in a city where he was currently at. I even went as far as kill him with the console so he couldn’t talk to me for a while and I can peacefully stroll next to him in his “undead but kinda dead” state as he was laying down on the ground and slowly turning toward me on his knees :D I remember I got the High King mod this one time and told him that he won’t be essential from now on before replying to him as he started talking to me about looking for people to kill vampires with, and I’ve never heard from him again :) ... until a guard in Windhelm mentioned the “vampire hunters” -.-

The female smith in Whiterun. Most players probably get their first house there and uses it for their base. A smith is conveniently next door so you can sell loot and craft weapons and armor.
So you will hear her dialogue too many times and it will drive you crazy.

I killed Mikael once in a play through, Ysolda wouldn’t talk to me after. Apparently she has the hots for him.
Cicero. I make him unessential and he never survives that first meeting. As far as Nazeem goes, I make him essential, make him highly aggro and change his faction so he spends the whole game bleeding out and crawling around Whiterun as the citizens and guards pound him senseless.
Brynjolf really bothers me. I hate the assumptions he makes about your character and just the way he talks. I hate that Delphine sends you to him but to get the information from him, there's no "I don't want to be a part of your stupid gang, just tell me about Esbern," dialogue option and you have to go along with his ridiculous plot. And I hate that there's no way to undermine or disband the thieves' guild at all, like there is with the Dark Brotherhood. I hate the first trip to Riften on every playthrough just because of Brynjolf.
There should've been the option to abandon and destroy/disband EVERY joinable faction in the game. For the Dark brotherhood, that's already an option. For the Civil War, you still have the ability to abandon whichever side you chose first and side with the others. The Companions, Thieves Guild and College of Winterhold? Nada. I can't believe no one has made any mod for that yet.
I mean, its technically impossible to disband the Companion themselves, but at least replace the current members (not that I have any issues, Aela, Vilkas & Farkas are my favorites). You could side with the Silver Hand and blow the Companions' cover. You could breach the College, force them to close. You could rub it all in Maven's face and nuke the Thieves. Why there isn't an option for any of this? Ugh.
I do remember a mod that stops the whole Thieves Guild thing from being necessary. I used it myself, I have little tolerance for them.

i was doing the companions questline. one of the odd jobs i was given was to rescue someone from a cave near Riften. decided not to continue with it and try out some of the other quests i had saved up. i do hope Nazeem doesn't mind

Dood, Khajiit is, like, ten times worse. That guy is just a cowardly mercenary. And it's not like we, the player, don't attack sleeping characters.
I find that woman to be the most annoying. She is rude for no reason. I usually kill her, unless I want the mercenary's armor.

In the dark brotherhood I found the cat more annoying than the other two, then he also goes far enough to threaten the player.
Jaree-Ra should have been on the list. Every damn time I entered Solitude I'd hear his sandpaper voice. He can't be killed until his quest is completed, but there is no option to get the guards to imprison him (good one there, Bethesda).
I have resorted to use console commands to delete him from existance in every playthrough.
